"Ten Cent Beer Night was a promotion held by Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians during a game against the Texas Rangers at Cleveland Stadium on Tuesday, June 4, 1974.
The idea behind the promotion was to attract more fans to the game by offering 12 fluid ounce (355 ml) cups of 3.2% beer for just 10 cents each, a substantial discount on the regular price of 65 cents, with a limit of six beers per purchase but with no limit on the number of purchases made during the game. During the game, fans became heavily intoxicated, culminating in a riot in the ninth inning which caused the game to be forfeited due to the crowd's uncontrollable rowdiness and because the game could not be resumed in a timely manner."

Fun fact that I totally did not just rip off the Cleveland Tourism video comments section for, but even the founder of Cleveland left Cleveland to return to Connecticut where he lived, died, and was buried.
Not to mention folks claiming the founder of Cleveland deliberately added an “a” to his last name so it spelled out “Cleaveland” due to him somehow foreseeing just how crazy the city he founded would become, though take that with a grain of salt since I think the folks who said that were messing with me.
Three more fun facts:
-Before the second inning there were already 3 streakers that ran through the field
-During the "riot" the organist kept on playing "take me out to the ballgame"
-Bases were stolen, literally by fans

Hmm... To lure someone with alcohol for the purpose of getting them fighting mad... If culturally insensitive sports team names have taught me anything, they were specifically selecting for Fighting Irish to come, get drunk, and do what they do. I suspect that most of the "fans" were getting angry just having to sit through a baseball game, without a single bagpipe, just to get the worst beer for the best price.

Clevelanders are a special breed of Ohioan, who are already a special breed of American. The state once just about fought against its northern neighbor, Michigan (which is why the state has a random piece of land it is not connected to).

I'm from cleveland... in the good old days when I was between maybe 7 and 13, there was a bench clearing brawl at damn near every home game I attended. When they started fining teams and suspending players for such conduct, the games became unbearably boring and I stopped going.

Yeah there was a 25c beer night in the late 90’s ended up with 2x4s, bats, 50 people in the street and huge fines more than once. Bar was eventually closed after a drug related fire was started and get out of control in apartments upstairs.

Philadelphia shares this uh..."trait". Philly used to be "The City Of Brotherly Love" but for years now has been known as Killadelphia. The Eagles Football Fans were so "interesting" that a Stadium Court was set up with Judge Sheamus McCaffery presiding. Incidents including throwing snowballs or iceballs at visiting teams or our own team. The most infamous case was a last minute drunken Santa Claus (with a brown beard) being pelted with snow and ice. The Flyers Hockey Team was known as the Broadstreet Bullies. They fought all the time and sometimes even played Hockey. Philadelphians have a certain attitude. Fun Fact, the Cleveland Indians originally were from Reading,Pennsylvania, northwest of Philly. Most of the Indian fans I know are fans because of the start in Reading.
