    Lyrics:
    Bill Nye:
We are at a time in history where we can change the world
What do we want to pass on to future generations?
That we just stayed here on Earth, that we didn’t look out
to find out where we come from and are we alone?
    No!
We want to pass on this joy. This excitement.
    Neil deGrasse Tyson:
When a nation dreams big, everything falls into place.
    Nye:
    Beyond the horizon
    Over the next hill
    That’s where we make discoveries
    Tyson:
    That’s the next frontier
    Nye:
It is in us to look farther and deeper
    It’s deep within us
That is why we are all here
Over the next hill, beyond the horizon
    Tyson:
    Dream of tomorrow
    Long for the open seas
    Call for this adventure
    Dream big
    Dream of tomorrow
    Long for the open seas
    Emily Lakdawalla:
There are lots of huge frozen worlds
    Caught beyond Neptune
    Huge frozen worlds
    Seek out these other worlds
    Hundreds of other worlds
    Caught beyond Neptune
    Seek out these other worlds
    Tyson:
Audacious visions have the power to alter mindsets
To change assumptions about what is possible
    [refrain]
    Nye:
If we are to discover life on another world,
It will change the way everyone feels about what it is to be a living thing in the Cosmos.
    Tyson:
Is a virus alive? Is crystal alive?
Does life need this, does life need liquid water?
Is a virus alive? Does life have metabolism?
Does life need, life need, life need, life need this?
Is a virus alive? Is crystal alive?
    They’re asking these questions
    Bill Nye:
Working together I claim we can
    Change the world!
    Carl Sagan:
There’s just a tremendously exciting prospect called solar sailing
And it works exactly as an ordinary sailboat does
It takes you to where you wanna go
It’s a whole new kind of idea
It travels on the wind from the sun
    X2
    Tyson:
These dreams prevail in the citizen’s ambitions.
It is time to set sail for the 21st Century.
    [refrain]
    Tyson:
    Find your place in space
    Space is vast and unexplored
And there’s a lot of work to do.

This song got me through the lowest point in my life. I graduated from uni in 2015 with a degree in applied physics since I've always loved science. The following month and its job hunt was not kind to me and I badly botched the only interview I got. I ended up signing with a temp agency because I needed a job. Several positions later and after the fall from hopefulness and promise it caused, I found myself cleaning and stocking shelves at Walmart. I had a degree and could tell you anything about particle physics and I'm cleaning vomit off the floor and stocking shelves. I was in a VERY bad place mentally as well as struggling to just pay rent. Then this video was published. "Dream of tomorrow. Long for the open seas. Dream big. That is why we are all here. Over the next hill. Beyond the horizon." That kept me going. It reminded me of what I really wanted. Instead of letting it die, drowning in a sea of despair, this song reminded me and inspired me to hold on long enough to find a way.
Thank you for making this song.

@@stevenutter3614 I dont think he really felt that he was better than the others.
It sounded more like he was raised a bit spoiled and doesnt understand hard work. he thinks studying is hard work lol
So he finally has to do it and it is driving him crazy.
Young people are raised to be so weak these days.
I remember a guy who was not raised to special and was a skilled self taught programmer. He graduated from high school and wanted to go straight into programming as a profession so he applied to many jobs. While doing so he did work at Target and other low level jobs. He spent 2 years doing everyman jobs before he finally got the job he wanted, but it all paid off and he was a middle class man by the age of 22 :)
You just have to be responsible, hard working, and keep your goal in focus, knowing that you can never stop improving yourself, and you will succeed at what you do.
Parents just dont teach this stuff anymore. Kids have it too easy since the 80s.

+k3nny111 The Pyramids weren't free either. All great advances and wonders of civilization are very expensive.
There are trillions of dollars sitting around in the pockets of the super-rich. Price is no object, it's just about putting together the will and the reason to do these things and getting the people in power to cash in on it.

    • @k3nny111
      @k3nny111 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Sez The pyramids were the result of religious fanatacism, so you just have to convince people that Jesus lives on Mars, or wherever you want to go. Shouldn't be that hard actually.
And those trillions of dollars don't "sit" anywhere. I wonder where this meme comes from. They are invested in companies, to make more pretty little dollars. Even the money you have "sitting" in your bank is actually given out as loans for one or another startup company or some idiot who wants a bigger car. Every cent is in constant flux, short maybe of whatever you have stashed away under your mattress.
Now, I'm not saying that there isn't any money to be gained in space travel. But the first ones who invest will lose big for sure, since there will be a lot of mistakes in the beginning. No private investor, except maybe for a certainy Musky-type of guy, is going to risk that. Leaves governments - but whoops, those act like companies too these days, and the people are too lazy to fix that.
So we are stuck here. Might as well get comfortable - but whoops, we are actually poisoning the air and killing the very planet we are sitting on and of which we are so reluctant to get away from.
Oh well, we are doomed. :-) But take it with a smile. If you look at the ressources we started out with and the direction our species is moving now (off a cliff), you can only laugh, peferably like a maniac, or get really depressed.

    • @thegreatestpepe
      @thegreatestpepe 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

+k3nny111 There's too little knowledge of how and why the Pyramids were built to make that assumption, though it is a safe bet I suppose. Your assumption that the reason was "Religion" is completely irrelevant, however. The fact is, it was done, for whatever reason. The reason could be nothing at all, the point still stands. The resources, the manpower, and the wealth to complete such a task was attainable, and completing monumental tasks like that today are just as possible. Bringing "Religion" into it is just completely off-topic.
Not every cent of a Rockefeller's or a Rothschild's money, or whatever Elite family name you want as an example, goes into companies or business. The rich shelter their money. It goes into massive luxury and excess, kept within the family, and so on.
There is in fact wealth 'sitting'. It's in terms of net worth. The actual physical currency may not exist (we live in an age of digital currency now) but there is quite a lot of money waiting around in accounts and investments that does not need to be there. The fact that such a tiny part of the human population owns more net wealth than the rest of the population combined certainly tells you that. There's plenty of wealth around to pay for the labor and resources that would fund a huge space program project, it just so happens that a few all-powerful organizations own that wealth, and refuse to share it. Or even pay taxes on it for that matter.
I am willing to live without Wall Mart or the Rothschilds or Big Oil, to use all that power and wealth they've all lined their pockets with for the advancement of mankind.

This is amazing, and it made me realize something. Our society isn't just about staying alive anymore. It's about more than eating, sleeping and finding shelter. It's about more than just getting a heap of stuff. We're ready to take the next step.
We're ready to enter life's "creative mode", and start exploring the universe, and playing with the universe, just for the fun of it. Just out of curiosity. We're ready to live how we WANT to from now on, not how we need to. We're ready to not only make life possible or easy, we're ready now to make life cool, exciting, worth it!
That's what science can become for us - sure it still helps us not die through fixing climate change and developing new antibiotics - but it also gives us a way to move ahead, beyond material things, to just enjoy the universe, to explore our new backyard, and find all the cool insects under each cosmic rock!

Even better is when seemingly simple boring things become breathtakingly impressive once you know how they work, stuff like this fuels our imagination, makes us excited.

Life is not about immortality, money, or puny wars, its about being able to experience emotion. The universe has all odd agented us, but we have one edge. I was commerce stream graduated in India. Here u just have to mind with ur subject what u chooses. After graduation, I was pathless, aimless. Chartered accountants, Company secretary and lots more professional courses were available to me for earning money. But I was always talk with myself tht why I'm here?why I'm in this world? is I born only in this world only to ear money? At the last day of my life when I'll be admitted in ICU of any hospital, what will I say to myself? Only try to earn money in whole precious single life? No, it could not be the purpose of my life. We have only 1 life to appreciate the grand design of the universe. This feeling awakened in my mind by Melodysheep's Songs, Carl Sagan. These both Awesome human beings are actually inspired and helped me to find the real purpose of my life.
I'm today 25 yrs old. I have pretty much time to shape my goal. Now, my dream in only to make a Company to take humanity to other planets and Stars. But for that, initially, I have to work on different jobs and entrepreneurship to earn sufficient money to form that COMPANY.

This was beautiful. Everytime I look up in the sky and watch these videos about the phenominal planets stars and galaxies that exsist. And how mind bendingly vast space really is it makes me feel so much love and appreciation for god all mighty. The creator of all things. Alhumdulilah!
