Probably not your thing but T.rex Electric warrior album and cover has always been iconic to me. Maybe as it was the first album I bought with my own money in 1971...
Nice list John. My picks would be more for their humor. The Temptations "Wish It Would Rain" ; The Who's "The Who By Numbers" ; MAMA and the PAPA'S "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears"; Pretty Things' "Silk Torpedo"; and Manfred Mann's Earth Band's "The Roaring Silence".
I grew up in Sweden, so I obviously bought the original Swedish pressing of "ABBA The Album". The cover is slightly different from the British issue, since the background of the drawing is completely white, with no blue sky. It isn't a gatefold either, so the lyrics are printed on the inner sleeve and there is no photo on the backside of the cover that also has a completely white background.
A favourite of mine would be the cover for Nightclubbing by Grace Jones. That pose is sheer genius. And I like quite a few of the album tracks as well.
Fun video, that Led Zep (6 covers) was brilliant. I have taken decades to find all 6 covers A thru F. I even have an F with the original paper bag cover. Only one had someone brush water on the inner sleeve to reveal the water colours. I could use a better copy of my B, it’s a bit worn. 😊
Of the eleven, I've got Breakfast in America framed up and on the wall. A favorite is Lennon's Rock and Roll cover with the smaller title above the door.
On the back of "Breakfast in America" album, members of Supertramp are reading their hometown newspapers. This and "Crisis? What Crisis" are absolute classic covers. Thanks, John!
I love album covers and miss those times I felt at one with the artist, they where fun and I loved looking at my vinyl whilst playing the music, the covers you have shown are iconic enjoyed this thanks John .
The Hipgnosis documentary is called Squaring The Circle. Going back to the 70s I loved illustrated covers such as Capt Fantastic or Procol Harum live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra - things you could study and still find something new each time you looked at it. Or photographic ones which made you wonder how they had done it eg. Peter Gabriel 2 or 3 (known as ‘Scratch’ and ‘Melt’). Pre-Photoshop or desktop publishing days, of course.
John, have you ever done a video that evaluates which solo Beatle songs would actually have made the cut on a Beatles album? I suspect that many solo songs would not have been accepted by John, Paul and George.
Here's some of mine once again: Deep Purple In Rock Iron Maiden's Powerslave and Number Of The Beast The Beatles' Rubber Soul and Abbey Road Bowie's Scary Monsters and Super Creeps Pink Floyd's Animals Led Zeppelin I-IV and In Through The Outdoor Genesis' Selling England By The Pound System Of A Down's Toxicity Metallica's Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets Black Sabbath's Debut Album and Mob Rules Cream's Disraeli Gears AC/DC's Highway To Hell Neil Young's After The Gold Rush Wings' Band On The Run Alice In Chains' Dirt ABBA's Arrival Lennon's Plastic Ono Band Joni Mitchell's Hejira Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill Soundgarden's Superunknown And many more
Good review John But, one thing when you hold up a picture of a album sleeve. You've no need to sway it left to right. We can see it clearly if you hold it still. Makes us have dizzy feeling Great review though. Regards

Ringos Good night Vienna was always a favorite of mine .
Who’s Next is a great album cover.
Melanie's "Candles In The Rain" from 1970 is one that deserves attention. Breathtaking photo.

Yes I noticed the differences in later years but the blue one is what I grew up with!
@@johnheaton5667 I'm not really sure which one i prefer. Both look great.

The cover on the back of the book is XTC’s Go 2 album.
Some nice covers that resonates with the music.
Kraftwerk - The Man Machine
J-M Jarre - Oxygene
Tom Waits - Closing Time
Chris Rea - King of the Beach

The cover of Manfred Mann's Earth Band's album "Watch". 🙂👍
Always loved London Calling!

I did not find the Hipgnosis documentary in the Hungarian Netflix catalogue.
No unfortunately I only found it on UK Netflix not sure why it isn’t on Hungarian NF
the Tug of War cover is one of McCartney's best
My personal favourite is Black Sabbath…Never Say Die.
Thanks for the tip on the hipgnosis doc on Netflix. Looking forward to it.

Hi John. Good choices. The one with the writing all over the back is Go2 by XTC.
Great Collection

Genesis' Selling England By The Pound
System Of A Down's Toxicity
Metallica's Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets
Black Sabbath's Debut Album and Mob Rules
Cream's Disraeli Gears
AC/DC's Highway To Hell
Neil Young's After The Gold Rush
Wings' Band On The Run
Alice In Chains' Dirt
ABBA's Arrival
Lennon's Plastic Ono Band
Joni Mitchell's Hejira
Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill
Soundgarden's Superunknown
And many more
Great collection John. Some real gems!
"This guy is literally on fire. He's wearing a wig" 😅😅
Love the video! I just watched your old least favorite album covers, and it was a hilarious video! I hope you do a similar one again!
Mob Rules by Black Sabbath.
Good review John

We can see it clearly if you hold it still.
Makes us have dizzy feeling
Great review though. Regards

I thought the guy at the bar was Jimmy Page
Pink Floyd's burning man looks like Trump
