As an Asian American who grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood, I didn’t realize the middle school bullies were just trying to heal me with “light language.”
When they did the racist slanty-eye gesture at me, they must have been trying to unlock my chakras, too.

I spent two years in Latin America and I had people shouting out something like "washoworshowa" to me from time to time.

I speak light language in meditation .. i channel it’s real this ancient language and language from the Cosmo .. sometimes I do it without my knowledge.

I took a beginning acting class in 9th grade and one of our exercises was talking in gibberish. I didn't stay in theatre but I always figured that gibberish was just a part of an actor's training. One thing I remember from that class is that different people would favor different kinds of syllables. There was one guy who seemed to be trying to sound German, like Danny Kaye in _The Court Jester._
I guess it's not too different from scat singing in jazz, or whatever it's called in Scandinavian folk music. There are different levels: some jazz guys just sing wordlessly along to their playing; Milford Graves sounded like he was trying to invoke a mythical village scene.
Elizabeth Fraser, Lisa Gerrard, Jonsi... I guess some heavy metal growlers approach something like gibberish too.
As a creative activity, it's fun - when kept in its place.
