    Planning to retire in Arizona soon. Dreaming about being a snowbird. I really enjoyed my Christmas Eve this last year (2021) sitting on the patio and just enjoying the falling stars at the home we rented in Mesa, AZ. So, different then Colorado. Live in the Denver area right now. Love the video. Thank you.

      So glad you got to experience our wonderful winter weather. I'm from Colorado Springs so I can relate to the dream of moving here. Let me know when you'd like to talk about options here in AZ! Thanks for watching.

    Loved the drive through Sun City. I visited in February, 2019 and was favorably impressed by what I saw. Hoping to visit again later on this year. Nice to hear your parents' perspective on moving to & living in Sun City, especially as year round residents.

      It’s such a nice community. My parents got such a kick out of doing that video. We will do a few more as soon as I get time. Keep watching!

    Really helpful to hear your parents' story. You wonder how hard it is to move to a new area when you are 60+.

      Thanks! They took a big step leaving everyone and everything they ever knew at their age. Turned out great. They love their Sun City life!

    I used to be stationed at Luke AFB. I remember trying to get through Sun City and when I stopped for gas, I was told, "We don't serve your kind here." I was trying to figure out what kind I was, then it hit me, I was 27 years old. Lol Now (since I'm finally of age), I'm considering retiring to Sun City.

      That's too funny! Actually you can do all kinds of things in Sun City if you're not old enough to live there. Gas, groceries and even a marijauna dispensary. You just can't live there until you're 55. But now that you're in that zone you'd love it here! Great place to retire and if you still have your military benefits, Luke is super close by!

    Thank you for your video, Given the colossal water shortage, I have an issue with people (and communities) that insist on having lawns. Sure a lawn is beautiful, but at what environmental cost? Noticed in a recent visit that some Sun City areas have lawns, others do not. Curious if Sun City HOA is feeling pressure to remove lawns except in public areas? If we buy a house with a lawn, can we replace it with gravel?

      Very very few homes here in this area have real grass. The grass you see in Sun City is a heat tolerant variety and uses much less water than you might think. We don’t do the typical Kentucky blue grass that many areas have. It wouldn’t live here and requires way too much water. The Sun City areas that have grass are the Gemini twin homes. They have an HOA that controls the lawns and watering. If you don’t want grass there are a multitude of great areas to choose to live in. Give me a call and we can chat about some nice options for you. Thanks for watching! 🙂

      Will the HOA "allow" artificial turf? Great look, always looks manicured and well maintained. Low cost, high return

    i don't live in sun city or in a 55-Plus community, but i live in an HOA community in Arizona. one evening about a year ago the sheriff's deputy rings my doorbell, and when i ask him what's going on, he says "we got a call that your garage door was open". when i asked him if that was illegal, he said "no, but there have been a lot of burglaries in this neighborhood recently" (an obvious lie). so even though i don't live in a 55-Plus community, there are a lot of busy bodies in these neighborhoods who will not even give you the courtesy of a phone call or a visit before they call the police on you!!! oh, and by the way i have absolutely no criminal record.

      If I remember correctly it was later afternoon so maybe they’re at home or at one of the eight rec centers having fun. Lots to do in Sun City.

      If you are a single, attractive woman....you will have a difficult time making female friends

  • @billw8042

    You do not need to be 55 to live in Sun City. One person living in a home has to be 55+ with anyone 19+. I am 51 and live in Sun City with my 57 year old sister.

    • @Southwest55Plus
      @Southwest55Plus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're correct. I should have clarified that at least one person must be 55+. The good news is that it is a Mature Adult Community and my parents love it there!

  • @ronitaeler9000
    @ronitaeler9000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My experience has been if you are a single, attractive woman the "wives" don't really accept you nor do they want you around...they want to keep distance between you and the Mister.....it will be very difficult to make friends

      Funny-I’m single and have lots of married friends. Maybe I’m not attractive enough to be a threat? 🤣

      You make me laugh. The camera is affixed to the windshield. All hands free for me so no different that any other day that I drive around town. Keep watching!

    Although well maintained, it looks old and unwelcoming

      Not sure what you mean by “unwelcoming.” My parents have made friends and attend events in the area. They love it.
