    His knees are too banged up to do significant mat wrestling, his shoulder is a mass of scar tissue meaning he's limited in the quantity and type of supplexes/slams he can do, and in general is really reliant on the residual good will of fans who remember what he used to be.

    "you try to fuck with Bronsolini, it's a crucial calling / Guaranteed you're gonna lose just like the Brooklyn brawler(from “Nordic Wind”)
    "Yo, pop, sniff confetti for the toast / Dropkicks like Janetty off the ropes" (from "intercontinental champion")
    "“I’m known for cooking meat, cooking beats, and wildin’ like I’m Booker T,” (from “T.K.O.”)
    he also has a song that primarily samples the Ron Simmonds "DAMN" and his nickname is bam bam primarily because of his resemblence to biggalow. he's also got a hilarious personality and some TV shows, one of which is literally just him smoking weed and watching the show "ancient aliens" - which included an episode with sabu and RVD that was destined to be a wrestling is awesome segment.

    The Owen Hart line from OOC is an early contender for quote of the year. :D
    Jay is off the mark on Eddie Kingston. His look is part of his appeal. This is an absolute banger of a video.
    Regarding the title situation, AEW is pretty fucked at the moment. So it looked like ROH was going to have its own show, meaning less titles. However, the WB/Discovery merger happened and now they're looking to tighten up on costs and don't want to do another wrestling show. But they have no problem doing another show with talent from AEW (aka they want more Discovery-esque reality tv).
    The initial idea of introducing the belts and spinning off to a new show wouldn't have been bad, but now they're royally fucked. IMO, putting ROH on a streaming platform (aka reboot Honor Club) would be the safest bet until they get proper TV. The belt situation is confusing af right now.

    Since WWE Films is always such a funny subject, did you lads know that, back in like 2007-2008ish, Bruce Prichard was working for films, and according to a Freddie Prinze Jr, who was there at the time, carny Bruce would apparently write manuscripts/screenplays under a pseudonym, and sell them to WWE Films, and since Bruce was in charge of choosing/buying them and making them into films, he would choose his own screenplays and make the films he wrote and get paid for both - Freddie said something like 20 mil per movie. Apparently he snitched on Bruce to Vince and Vince was like, FUCK FREDDIE, IT'S ONLY 20 MILLION! Like that was some pittance. Lol. Brucy boy obviously got fired around that time. Absolute carny.

    • @OSW
      @OSW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jesus!! 😂 I had to check this up. The *movies* cost $5M each to make, and Prichard got 4 made, so that's where the $20M came from; not that Prichard was paid $20M. It was still probably 500K total though, on top of his own salary. What a knacker carny, hoodwinking the company. crazy money! 💸

    • @sithari518
      @sithari518 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OSW ohh, then I misunderstood, Freddie was saying it COST the WWE Films dept $20mil to make the movies based on the scripts Prichard penned under a pseudonym. So, in addition to the $20mil to make all of the movies, they also paid Prichard for the scripts, yeah? That's even worse! No wonder why he lies or is vague about getting fired back in 2008. And he still works there!! Biggest carny knacker of all, I swear.

    Great video lads! Looking forward to the PPV and Scrum review! Especially your thoughts on what went down.
    Just on Eddie Kingston, while I agree that he looks very schlubby, kind of out of shape, and like he wouldn't belong in the main event scene, I also think that's part of his appeal. He has a very Dusty or Foley appeal to him. He's not the best looking guy, a bit of a schlubby everyman who's down on his luck, surrounded by people who look like super stars, but that offers a relateability with the fans that, combined with his charisma and mic skills, gets and keeps the fans in his corner. When you have fans shouting "Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!" chants during a match between him and Punk at a PPV, when Punk was still only a few months into his AEW run and over as all hell, you know you have something with Kingston.
    It makes Kingston feel a lot more real and grounded, which I think is a character type sorely missing not just from AEW, but from WWE as well. Not enough real down to Earth characters. With Kingston, it feels like what you see is that you get, and the difference between the real guy and the character isn't much more than a hop skip and a jump. That kind of relateability combined with excellent micwork and in ring work, and he ends up feeling like one of the most genuine acts in the business today. Naturally fans get behind that.
    Now, should he be a main event talent, and even a potential future world champ? If it were up to me, I'd absolutely put the strap on him, or at least put him in the title picture. But he doesn't need to be there. He can still do bits for the company in the midcard to upper midcard. And as long as they don't do anything stupid with him, what he has going for him is sure to keep him a fan favorite.
