I joined a gang when I was 17. Worst decision I ever made. Started doing stuff that I knew was wrong. Ended up shooting a guy. Went to prison when I was 21 and did 5 years. Got out at 26. During that whole time I was locked up, the only ppl that wrote me in there was the very ppl that I had turned my back on. My real family! Never received one letter from any of my so-called ‘homies’. All I got out of that was the stamp of a felon! I’m 46 years old now. I’ve been out now going on 20 years in May. Hopefully this young man wakes up before it’s too late. The life of gang affiliation is a dead end.

I joined when I was 14. Same situation and I was invited to join without me asking. People got locked up I looked out for their books. I get locked up nobody says a word. Not a penny. It ain't like I'm saying fuck them but I ain't doing a mission unless it's something I want to do in my own. Idc how og the person is that asks. I done stood in the county, prison, probation, parole. Alone. I wouldn't dare dedicate any value towards something that don't benefit me and I can't do it myself. Never got tattoos none of that cuz I ain't want to. No nickname because I went by my real first name. That's just what I did

      Thanks Amy,
Most seem to hate my interrogative questioning style. The truth is that because I’m off camera the viewer’s imagination turns me into whatever they want, which seems to something negative for many viewers. If you’ll notice, everyone I talk with seems very comfortable opening up with me. The truth of my interaction with my subjects isn’t shown in these videos, which is my design. I believe most of my audience has little understanding of what they’re watching here. These seem like calm little chats when in reality they’re often more like talks on a battlefield in a foxhole.

They're always likable. You just gotta sit down and get to the sensible part of them. I went to prison and every single hard core killer gangsta I ever met were the most genuinely nice person who just made a few wrong decisions because they were misled or groomed into a lifestyle that they see no possible way out of. Its sad. It's also why I did my dirt, selling drug or whatever, but I never fully jumped into that life because I always knew I had options in life...plus I was always a square deep down. A lotta those guys I was locked down with are either dead or are just getting out now...meanwhile I already moved on from that life, got married, started a business, bought a house and now my wife and I are raising 4 kids. When your in the gang life it consumes you and even when you try to get out law enforcement and your gang ties(because I'm not gonna put it all on the police. Your own gang homies will remind you that you're still a gangsta...no matter what you say you are or how much you say you've changed)won't let you walk away. Both sides make it EXTREMELY hard for you to get out and better your life.

This guy is impulsive but reflective, he understands exactly what he is in for and the decisions he has made, I feel that he struggles at making decisions in the moment though.
The part that stood out the most was when he said "I cant be talking to my daughter, get caught lackin on the phone and have your head blown off"
it really shows the situation he is in, he cant get out because of the commitments he made, his worth in society is now defined by the responsibilities he took on, and those responsibilities will tie him to this life until he is able to totally deconstruct his ego and get away from this shit.
He isnt ready to leave, he might never be, its not a good life but its a life none the less, he wants this because its all he knows, and the thrill is definitely unmatched.
His reflection is admirable, he knows where hes at.

I'm almost 40 years older than him and a white man. We're worlds apart, but if his life would be different I believe we could of been friends if we could of met under different circumstances. May God bless him, he still has a chance to change his life, seems like he could be a decent guy if given a chance.

This idea that "where you are born defines where you die" is idiotic, immature, irresponsible, and isnt true.
Stop making excuses for these people. He told you throughout this interview that he KNOWS he is doing the wrong thing, yet continues to do so. Where you are born might have to do with the choices you have to make, but it has nothing to do with which choice you make.
