Taemin debuted in Shinee in 2008, solo in 2014 and superm in 2019 (man debuted in 3 different kpop generations he’s that powerful lol)
Superm has great dancing videos with Taemin, Ten and Kai (Also just watch a superm dance practice cause everyone in the group is pretty crazy) Taemin and Jimin did a special dance showcase together as well as recently Jimin did the dance challenge with Taemin for shinees newest song “hard”!
All of Taemin’s dance practices are amazing - iconic ones are Move, Idea, Criminal, etc but I especially love one of his Japanese ones Famous!
Final comment! You should definitely do Sayonara Hitori (Goodbye is the Korean version) it was one of his first tries at contemporary dance with his friend and amazing Japanese choreographer Koharu (she’s the highlighted girl in the Move music video!) BUT Momo and Jihyo learned the choreography from Taemin and they performed it together at a music show and killed it!

Taemin is the best dancer
Taemin is the only artist in the whole world that made me want to watch someone dance. I don't dance and i was never interested in dancing until i got to know TAEMIN. I have been following him for 5 years now. Never thought i would.
Prior to becoming a trainee at the age of 11, Taemin had no formal dance training. He started out as a self-taught popper and locker who learned to dance by copying dancers on TV, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. He said he thought dancers like Kpop solo artist Bi Rain and Michael Jackson were cool, so he would try and copy their moves. He debuted as the main dancer of SHINee in 2008 at the age of 14 -- so he had about 3 years of training as a dancer once he became a trainee.
So, most of what you see is just natural talent and an unbelievable amount of dedication. Taemin has put in a lot of effort to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard than himself. He has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training.
It's said that if Taemin's dance looks easy then it's actually really difficult and if it looks extremely difficult then it's even harder than you imagine. No one moves the way he does and even his backup dancers struggle to keep up with him. Choreographers say he is constantly asking them to make the choreography more difficult and he is never satisfied until the difficulty level is off the charts.
As Taemin has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance.
The first time he says he really took a break was around 2018 when he took 3 days off, and he said he hated it. That is why you see him constantly working and churning out hit after hit. For example, Taemin spent the first half of 2020 promoting and touring with SuperM while he was also working on his solo comeback with his Never Gonna Dance Again album -- "2 Kids," "Criminal," "Idea" and "Think of You." And then, even before he was done with his solo promotions, he started working on SHINee's "Don't Call Me" comeback, and while promoting with SHINee he also was working on SuperM's new song and MV "We Do." And without taking a break, he began preparing for SHINee's repackaged album comeback "Atlantis" and their Superstar Japanese mini album. And in between all of that, SHINee was preparing for their Beyond Live concert and their Japanese fan meeting/concert, and Taemin was also recording an OST for a drama, preparing for a Beyond Live solo concert, and working on his "Advice" album, etc.
Taemin's push to cram so much into that year and a half was all in preparation for the fact that he was enlisting in the military May 30, 2021 and he would be on hiatus for 18 months -- which ended up being extended until April 2023 -- as he completed his duties to his country.
Taemin is known for being one of the hardest working Idols in the industry. He has literally released at least one song, usually way more than just one song, every year for the past 13 years. (That is, up until his military hiatus, which forced him to take a two-year break.) He's also one of the only idols who have debuted in 3 different Kpop generations -- second generation with SHINee in 2008, third generation as a solo artist in 2014 and now fourth generation as a member of SuperM in 2019.
You should watch some of Taemin's concert documentaries to see just how hard he trains and works. If you search TH-cam you will find 2 or 3 from his solo concerts, as well as documentaries/behind the scenes of SHINee's concerts.
Taemin doesn't have to try to grab your attention, he just exudes command of the stage. That is what makes him one of the top performers and why he is so popular. Yes, he has literally been voted one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop by his peers and industry experts. (Kai from EXO -- who happens to be Taemin's best friend since trainee days, and a fellow member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) That is why he has been nicknamed the Korean Michael Jackson. Literally everyone in the Kpop industry looks up to Taemin and idolizes him. He is the idol that most choreographers dream of getting the chance to work with.
He has always been known for saving his energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for him are literally dance practices, so he is just allowing himself to feel the dance and get in the groove. He is less worried about being spot on exact, and more about showing everyone the feel of the choreography and the story behind the dance.
Believe it or not, what you just witnessed in this dance practice video isn't even Taemin at full power. If you really want to see what makes Taemin such a brilliant performer, check out some of his live performances. Taemin live is on a whole other level. That is where he truly shines. You will be even more impressed once you see him perform these songs and dances live.
Taemin doesn't need to expend every ounce of his energy in the dance practice video, to show us how brilliant of a dancer he is. With even 50% effort, Taemin is more magnificent than a lot of dancers when they dance full out. No one can pull off a Taemin dance exactly the way Taemin does it -- it's never as sharp or precise as he does it -- no matter how talented of a dancer you are.
Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. So happy to see your reaction to this iconic dance practice! There is great kpop dancers, there is elite dancers, incredible technical good dancers in the industry, and then there is Taemin. He is alone to his level and artistry. You mentioned some of the best, but to my humble opinion, none of them could have made this choreography like Taemin executes his choreo.. It has the true speed here in Advice, because it is said to be the fastest choreography SM ever made. Taemin needs the best back up dancers to keep up with him. He is so light and sharp, and owns the choreo like he has done nothing else. Yes, Taemin and Jimmin, like the good buddies they are, did a small choreo show together. But when SM pulled together SuperM, it was a splendid mix with some of the top tiers in the house, like Taemin, Kai and Ten (the others where Taeyong, Mark, Lucas and Baekhyun). Even so, great as they were, it was like Taemin set himself back a bit to give space to the others. He nothing less than a purehearted, genuin fella to his piers.

Taemin is 🔥 And I've been waiting for other people to say the same thing.. That they want to see Taemin, Jimin, Kai, Ten and J-hope dance together. 4:43 It's undisputed that Taemin is a BEAST and so aware of his body, which means he has great control and that often makes choreography look effortless. But just so you know, because I do see comments like this a lot, they aren't just back up dancers. They are professional dancers, sometimes who are even responsible for choreographing parts of these dances (depending on the crew or mix of dancers). But in this context, because they are not supposed to be the main focus, they often tone down facial expressions and overall 'performance' or are given notes to be less or more intense than the idol to create a differentiation and interest.
All of these choreographies are so minutely thought out, and as a dancer myself, changing vibe, strength, style, intensity of movements is something we consider all the time. They aren't struggling to keep up, they just play a different role in these performances and obviously every dancer has a their own personal style too! I would honestly consider Taemin a professional dancer as well though, he really could rely solely on dance as his form of expression if he wanted to, that is how skilled he is. Just a thought, because those dancers killed it!

Yawning is another level, his smoothness, handsome and live performances is goat
So usually singers aren't as good as their back up dancers (as dancers have trained for many years and are experts) when it comes to dancing at that level, but, Taemin is just as good as his dancers and in some ways even better because he has to sing and dance at the same time and still keep up the moves and the pace. He's TOP NOTCH, on a whole different level from other Kpop artists for sure. I agree that Taemin stands out because of his smoothness, intricate choreo and isolation. Taemin adds his own moves/style to tell a story. It's amazing and one reason why I'm such a huge SHINee fan. Proud Shawol! Check out all his dance practices and you'll see more. But his best performances are LIVE stages in his concerts. p.s. Watch his live performance of ADVICE recently in L.A. at KCON 2023, and you might have a different opinion of the video being sped up as he's dancing live on stage with a few of his dancers. :)
There are many really good dancers in Kpop: Kai, Jimin, Hoshi, And JHope. However, When it comes to execution, Taem is very precise and never miss with the small intricate details … that makes him a phenomenal dancer.
And trust me the live performance even better...his recent 'Advice' performance in Kcon LA, Mcountdown in Paris 👌
