Taemin is the king of soloists and yet he is being canceled by Kpop Kingmakers. Forget about awards, GUILTY is being vampired to hurt Taemin. Latest Kpop social media hot topic: Kpop controllers appropriating GUILTY, a 2-month-old Taemin song for a 4th gen HYBE golden boy. Even non-fans are shocked, wondered out loud on social media, asking why SM sold out Taemin just when he is finally exploding into global consciousness...
The answer is simple. This isn't just a cold calculated hijacking of Taemin's soul work. This is Kpop power masters' public whipping of a rebel rouser in front of millions of Kpop audience.
Taemin's 2023 title song Guilty MV has a darker layer hidden underneath its viral sexy choreo, and he sneaked that layer through with convoluted editing. He had the audacity to hint at Kpop child abuse institutions! Now top child exploiters are punishing him in hyper specific manners: grabbed his anti-child-abuse song, got young idols to heighten the sexualized parts for viral benefits, made a BIG show of erasing Taemin's name from the HYBE golden boy's cover performance video title and official tweets… The erasure cannot be more cruel. All this to make a LOUD public statement: "shut up Taemin, we own SM, we own you, we own the kids, we own your songs, your soul, and we can erase you faster than CCP erased rebels, watch us vampire your most beloved song and bleed your heart dry, then we own your tears too."
Talk about the devils flexing at a child-slave-turned-advocate.

Had to add this: He is guilty of being in love, and being tempted, by his own dark thoughts and dark feelings. That trap you can be in, the familairity, with your anxiety, with your depression, how you want to just...stay in it.
I think "Guilty" is a continuation of the themes surrounding Taemin's previous releases. Particularly connected to his Never Gonna Dance Again album -- "2 Kids", "Criminal" and "Idea" -- and Advice album themes.
As Taemin has explained, "Guilty" is about a lover who DOESN'T feel guilty about all the bad things they have done in the relationship and they feel no shame or remorse for the pain and suffering they may have caused the other person. Which, if you connect it to the messages from his previous MVs, this easily could be interpreted as a metaphor for everything Taemin has gone through in his career and life. As an idol, he has been manipulated and controlled his whole life. Debuting at 14 years old, Taemin has lived his entire life in the public eye under a microscope, he is expected to be flawless and perfect, and people are constantly telling him what to do and how he should act, etc. However, now that he has turned 30, I think he is embracing a new chapter in his life where he is saying he is no longer going to allow people to manipulate him and he is officially taking back control. In other words, he's not going to feel guilty any more for being himself and doing what makes him happy.
With Taemin -- and all the members of SHINee -- you will never get the same thing twice. Everything he releases will be a new style and sound and, yet, it will still be very "Taemin". Everybody looked like you in the first 5 seconds lol. Taemin has a amazing voice from someone who used to be made fun of bc he couldn't sing well at the beginning. My biggest flex is watching taemin grow up and seeing him live in SHINee,SuperM,and solo at kcon! So proud of my son!!!

He’s actually saying the opposite: the video speaks to trauma, which caused sin and then the consequence of that…
5:33 I was actually thinking about all the keys... part of me thinks it might be playing on the theme of the video where he's dancing along the corridor and looking into rooms that seem to hold different memories. BUT ALSO the song he left us with before his military service was Advice... and that chorus ends with the lyrics "Do you never get the keys to my lock" AND NOW MY MIND IS REELING. Often keys symbolise freedom because they open doors/chests etc. but equally they can represent locking things away or keeping precious things or secrets hidden. That dualism is so interesting. And I just love love that he's wearing them. Something about that choice, screams reclaiming power and having a certain ownership of his memories/experiences as harrowing as some of them are in this video- if we assume that he's depicting some representation of his own reality.

I agree with you in everything. I am still impressed by what I have seen and heard. It was as if there was an effect of swinging and balancing on a certain edge. We were then cradled with a voice, then rolled on virtuoso passages. It sounds so cool in combination with instruments. And his body seemed to depict pain, suffering, mental tossing, and I experienced all these emotions. He made me think and feel and I appreciate it.

I'm so glad you've starting reacting to Taemin. He really is a fantastic soloist. Please try reacting to his group SHINee (Pronounced Shiny). I think you will love their content. They actually released a new album recently. Unfortunately, one of the members, the leader Onew, (who has one of the best voices in K-Pop imo), had to sit this comeback out due to his health, but you can still appreciate his vocals in the music video. They have some AMAZING songs.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Good song. On 1st listen I felt strongly like crying. The tears were held in though the whole song through. But at the end i had to wipe my eyes. I just want to hug Taemin. On my 2nd listen i read the lyrics. And after i wondered was my reaction all in my head. There are layers here upon layers. Loved the fits and makeup. Some of the subject matter was an issue for me. I know Taemin had lots of mental health issues in the military. Based on the teasers I thought he would talk about it. And it looks like he does in his own way. I really want to hear his views on this song and album. I watched Suchwita ep. w. Taemin right after this. Glad he is back giving us headaches, lol. Perfect vocals in my opinion. The feathered headband is a Native American thing for me. I feel it has an important significance. The lyrics had nothing to do with the images in the MV. I think this is way over my head and i will watch some reactions to see what others think of Taemin's msg here. Feels based on imagery. Great choreo. I'm still confused about the exact meaning, but again, there could be different interpretations as with his other songs. But from the visuals i get the feeling it refers to abuse, it can be at so many levels. It can have psychological and physical or both, you can suffer it under your own family, friends, at school, at work, in love relationships... Then who is the perpetrator? many times you can be trapped by those people, even in a group or the society, you don't even realise but by the time you realise you have been actually abused THEY are gone, who can you blame exactly? I have gone through my own dose of abuse, and after years you realise but you end up blaming yourself too, as if you hadn't known better but then you allowed it...😢 Also the images of classroom and rooms with beds, and a kid surrounded by a group...Taemin is watching him from the door as if he was watching himself as a kid... also at the end those kids in school uniforms, all spread around, one grabbing the legs of an adult that grabs his leg, bleeding... South Korea also has buIIying as endemic.. at schools (kids also teachers committing suicide as they can't either find understanding or help by their surroundings, on the contrary they are treated as the outcast and weirdos) also at the workplace, in the Military, in university... Their social rules, their stratification and obsession with seniority, comparing their ages, wealth, possessions, their marks, everything... the social pressure on kids and in general on everyone to be better, the most xx the most xx...). The crazy mix of their traditional values and the contrast to the monstruos capitalism that devours all traditional values... traditional collectivism versus wild individualism...

this is an amazing comeback, so artsy so taemin, shawols had lots of interesting theories, my favorite being that this is an interpretation of the struggles in military enlistment, young men being taken, examined and given a gun, i find it so fascinating.
P.S. Taemin and Hoshi of SVT already did dance challenge to Guilty. Also, Taemin was on Suchwita ep. 20 with Suga. Hope u watch. Oh my god i hope he does a Studio choom! gah.

Taemin was very young when he came to SM and debuted when he was 14. He is from the 2nd gen when the rules were still extremely strict, about how you are to present yourself to the public how you are not to date or party. There could be touch of that in this song too, the years of concealing and controlling yourself to the point that living might make you feel guilty. Not saying its the whole point of the song but at least he is familiar with the emotions itself he is singing about.
Next the Rizzness performance video :)) Then there is choom version of Guilty too which was so good.
Taemin's music is like shock to the system! once you experience Taemin, there is no return back to ordinary. The only thing that comes close to Taemin itself in versatility, talent, and quality of production is Shinee which he is member of for last 15 years, so no there is no way out of Taemin, one way or another you are hooked, he became my g.u.i.l.t.y pleasure 😆

I guess it could be about the mental repercussions of being in the military and living your everyday life as a tool for a fight between governments in which you have no voice, spending all your time and energy learning the most efficient ways to kill people you do not use. nor do I want to hurt (could the phrase "loving you is a crime" be about having empathy and compassion for the "opposite side" in the war) and the loss of childhood and innocence it would cause. We see Taemin looking very anxious while holding the gun at target practice and even taking it out on himself through self-harm (because of guilt??) he (or someone else I can't say) then sets the target on fire at 5 :20, possibly as a rebel?? Throughout the MV there is also a theme of everyone being in uniform or boring clothes, so this is juxtaposed with super expressive outfits like Taemin in a skirt which could be a commentary on how the military steals your self-expression and sense of identity, since you have to wear a uniform, shave your head and follow orders. The first scene is quite indicative of both the loss of childhood (children's photos drawn on the wall) and the loss of self, as Taemin is sitting in a room full of colorful clothes while wearing a very simple outfit. This is just my theory, and I could be totally wrong, I have no intention of speaking for Taemin, especially when an anti-military concept would be very controversial and would result in a lot of hate for him. That hurt expression is unforgettable. It's a strong shock and stimulus. Taemin was the first K-pop artist I was exposed to (and became obsessed with) and he became my first prejudice (now ult) for exactly this reason. Always with you, Taemin. 🫰😍
