    One of the funniest shows ever made. To this day I still laugh so hard at this show and I must have watched it a dzoen times or more.

      Watchable - but I find it peculiar. About half of each episode (maybe less) good to great, the rest peculiar taste in the mouth or tasteless. ;';'

      Over sensitive about comedy . And commenting to delete. Is rather petty. Suppose they rather have people upset and fueled watching war and politics than laughing and sitcoms from years ago . Thats not the type of world i wish to be in. Love faulty towers.

      Lol. Smiles and laughter is ubiversal. Comedy poinnts out issues , brings people together, and thats why its being regulated. I think people miss the point and are offended based on their own prejiduce. There are comedians i like and those i dont, it does not mean i complain or report those i dont like . I try avoid propaganda.

      Totally agree. Fawlty, Sybil, Manuel, Polly, guests like Mrs Richards, the American, the late great Bernard Cribbins spoon salesman were all brilliant but I always adored the Major (Especially as a Cricket fan!) The Major "I knew a woman once. I must have liked her, I took her to see India.......... at the Oval!

    I remember watching it when it originally aired in the 70s. I couldn't believe it when the Faulty Towers sign read "Flowery Twats" at the beginning of one of the episodes. I spat my tea with laughter.

      There’s a scene at the start of an episode where kids are changing the letters on the sign. “Watery Fowls”, “Fatty Owls” etc. Fantastic British comedy. All gone I’m afraid.

    Only just watched the 12 episodes they released of this a week ago. It’s absolutely hilarious, seriously timeless and that’s coming from me, born in 1997. Makes me feel sad that they only released 2 seasons. But it was enough to make a mark in the world!

      Cleese dijo que, aunque hubiera podido hacerlo, consideraba que continuar la serie hubiera hecho que ésta perdiera eficacia cómica. Es verosímil que estuviera en lo cierto, aunque uno lamenta no tener más episodios. Pero la serie era tan extraordinaria que uno sigue riéndose prácticamente igual que cuando vio por primera vez cada uno de esos pocos episodios.

    What many people may NOT know is that John Cleese produced a lot of excellent, professional training videos years ago too, aimed at sales companies. They were absolutely hilarious!
    But very informative and educational at the same time.

    Brilliant! Has TV comedy ever been as good as this before or since? Cleese did for the television series what the Marx Brothers did for film. Superb supporting cast as well.

      Cleese explained that they didn't do comedy but a "farce". Which increses in intensity and absurdity until it reaches its climax and ends. That's how all episodes are structured.
      Which is why it is so "fast" and still enjoyable today.

    Great compilation ... I never realized how well scripted the 'salad cream' scene was .. just another little genius gem, amongst its more celebrated comedic 'jewels' ... We shall not see their likes again ... after all, it's been almost fifty years ...Monumental!

    My dad recorded Fawlty Towers when I was a kid , and I watched that vhs over and over again year after year. When I was slightly older I realised that one episode was missing and I seen 11 episodes dozens of times but there was an episode out there that I had never seen.
    When people always say that they wish there was more episodes of Fawlty Towers , that’s what I had . A brand new episode 🥳🥳

      The BBC banned season 1 episode 6 about 18 months ago because the Major Gowen character dared to utter the N word and the left went barmy.

      In my case my dad recorded them on vcr but missed one - but I didn’t know. Then years later I was watching it on tv and I realised I’d never seen it before !! It was the Waldorf Salad ep 🤣

    John Cleese is " Spitzenklasse"..!! :-) The forgotten approach to comedy. Now its more about the direct attacks from a stand up person. This was far more sophisticated and much more close to life somehow.

    Awe, that 1st line from The Major in 'Waldorf Salad' 😁 (Bless him 😳). That, the Bernard Cribbins one (Hotel Inspectors) + The Kipper & The Corpse are personal faves, but then again they ALL are. So many amazing other great characters + cameos in a mere 12 episodes which NEVER tire & Bless ALL who contributed to this entertaining bliss.😍

      The actress, Joan Sanderson, was magnificent as ever. Wonderful. How lucky was the UK to have had such a huge compliment of talent over the years? Sadly missed today as no-one can compare.

    After dealing with customers in a repair industry it's easy to understand Basil.
    They are annoying mostly. But I did meet a nice young lady and spent some time talking about surfing.

    One of the greatest comedies ever, it could have run for 20 years. Comedy is usually cultural, but this one spans ALL cultures. It is funny and understood in every language.

    I remember my dad showing Fawlty Towers to me and my brother for the first time, we rolled our eyes expecting some lame old TV show. How wrong we were, absolutely loved it and one of my favourites to this day.

    This show is so insane!! I love British TV. I grew up listening to BBC radio all the wonderful stories and plays. I am fond of the British too, esp in their dedication to literacy and their left brain approach of practicality and discipline. : ) Long live the Queen lol for now

    The best thing about Fawlty towers ( and other old shows ) is no matter how bad the lead man/ woman is we still like them and are on their side. Today the characters of lead men/women are not so likeable. That's not to say they aren't great actors, they are, but....they lack a certain warmth and empathy - maybe like a lot of people in the public eye these days.

    There hasn't been anything worth watching since, this was pure gold.
    And to think the guy at the BBC almost killed it by writing it wouldn't be worth trying...didn't think it would be funny....
    I haven't laughed with anything else this hard, over and over...and I've seen them all over and over here...daily I might add...
