    Consider water pump with rotor made of a metal - there are many issues with plasticish water pumps especially in mk4. The plastic ones may have tendency to brake the rotors and get loosen pretty quick, instead of the full metal pumps which are recommended and are known of long-lasting.

    Hey christian, you know what would be cool? If you did a weber carb conversion on the mk2 jetta with DCOE 45 CARBS.

    What a coincidence I had the same issue on my water pump yesterday. I thought it was my water pump pulley but once I took the pulley off, turned out to be that same issue as you had new water pump definitely fixed the problem.

    Newer cars are a pain in the ass to work on. But they do run better than the ones years ago. Nice job, thanks RickGTI….. 🌴

    Water pump looks so much easier on there than the newer cars! Glad you got it all sorted out! Just paid about $2k for the dealer to do mine in my mk7, out of warranty, about 120k miles so no class action money for me lol

      @Mk3Smith  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dang sorry to hear that! Yeah on the vr6 thankfully that water-pump is with the accessories and separate from the timing so it’s fairly easy to get to.

    My brothers T3 bus waterboxer made a similar sound as yours did before, he just ignored it we thought it was the alternator. But they were going on a vacation and i drove them in the bus to the airport 140 ish km away, the trip went fine to the airport. Then when i got just outside Copenhagen 30 km maybe it just exploded, there was bearing rollers and aluminium parts all over the engine :P Lucky it didn't happen on the trip to the airport. So a good thing you changed it before it grenaded it self. Interesting that none of them was leaking any water. On the 8v engines the water pump leaks way before the bearing seems to fail

    Buy cheap buy twice, always get OE Genuine VW parts when it comes water pumps, chains, tensioners
    Anything else is a waste of time and money

    literally the day after watching your last video, for the first time I heard a horrendous squealing sound from the passenger side of my golf. I thought to myself there's no freaking way. The next morning I back the car out of the garage and on the ground on the passenger side of the car was a small puddle of pink coolant. 🤦‍♂😭 like bruh

    Lol I’m about to do this job today! Did you have any issues with the exhaust binding raising the engine so high? I was going through the gruvenparts diy and they say you need to take off all mounts and push the engine :( and I’m not trying to do that

    • @Mk3Smith
      @Mk3Smith  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally didn’t have any issues thankfully. I just went up with the engine really slow. It definitely started getting tight with going up that high with the engine but it worked and I had no damages or anything. Just gotta pay attention as you go up.
