Hey, sis! Today’s question is all about flipping the script on comparison and stepping into FREEDOM! The question is: what is one characteristic or quality of someone close to you that you are grateful you’re able to experience or witness? This might be sometime that before video you felt a little “less than” in comparison - but let’s flip it and use comparison to fuel our joy and inspire us instead of steal from us. *BONUS* message this person and tell them the characteristic you admire about them! 🤍🤍
For me: i truly appreciate the way my cousin authentically radiates joy and positivity. She’s sooo great with people and it’s something in the past I’ve compared myself against but no longer. I’ve asked God to highlight and develop within me MY VERSION of these same characteristics! & I’m going to text her this now ❤

One characteristic or quality I am able to experience from my daughter is her ability to decorate a room and her anointing to find a good deal when shopping the retail stores 😊

Hey, Melody! Hi from Georgia :D. I'm Chloe, and as of now, I'm 16. I'm really struggling in my walk of faith and have been for a while due to bad habits and things I need to break off in my life. Being a light at 16 probably is not the easiest, but keep the faith and keep pursing Jesus…..know you will make mistakes and experience trying times…but God will truly always be with you! (This is coming from someone who became Christian at 18….I’m 28 now) so I know a thing or two lol…. But anywho, keep the faith 💕

The way she shines God’s light through every interaction she has with others leaves them feeling refreshed and inspired, which also inspires me to shine His light in my own life. I find myself comparing my content to other people who are in a similar subject group as me. I am choosing to be grateful that God provided gifts to other people to share the Good News to their realm of people. Luke 10:2 says "the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few." I am grateful for the people who chose to walk into what God called them to. I am also comforted by the fact that "the harvest is plentiful". There is enough work out here for ALL of us to do with the gifts that God gave us to do it. Thank you for this video.

The one thing that my mother hounded me about was: having enthusiasm.
Now, when I asked Google what was the definition of it, as an adult; I was like: uh-huh, coo but then I was like I'm enthused about medicine and helping people. I was enthused about going to high school because I knew what school I wanted to go to, to help me achieve fuel the kind of enthusiasm I had for medicine. Never happened. I was miserable at the school that I was forced to attend. However, the Biology and Chemistry teacher I had were dope!
Years later, I went for an open house at a nursing school and I felt I was so joyful, that I felt like my voice was crying but tears of joy. Now I have to study for the entrance exam because I love how joyful I am when I talk to my patients. My daily prayer is to be more like Jesus Christ: loving, but firm.

Just a word: thank you ! Thank you for this sharing, this very edifying and blessed advice. Recently I had let a lot of comparison invade me, whether it was with my work colleagues, friends or other people on the networks. I understand that I need to work on my uniqueness, put to work what God has put in me, be proud of who I am and know how to appreciate and learn from the qualities of others and not feel inferior to them. We are all useful in this world. Diversity comes from God.

This is something that I’m working on daily and as a black women who’s experienced hardships, trauma, etc, it’s necessary to tap into this. Appreciate others but also know that you are also gifted, beautiful, etc. i saw some comments about people feeling insecure about their looks compared to someone else. Work on your uniqueness and ask God to reveal your true beauty to you. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Q: What is one characteristic of someone close in my life that I am grateful to experience or witness?
A: So there are actually two close sisters in Christ that I believe God put into my life for a special reason! My first sister would be my dear friend Janet, I honestly just admire how much self discipline she has! It is something that I am grateful that God has allowed me to witness, she is able to balance out things like her job, school work, work, time for her passions, but most importantly she puts God first above it all. Every time I see her I wonder how and this video really brought to mind that it is because of Jesus Christ and how he is our first example of what it means to live by the fruits of the Spirit. I am very encouraged every time I see my sister and I love her genuine pursuit for Christ 💕💕
My other sister is Ty and when I tell you she knows how TO WAR !! My goodness!!! I am always encouraged by her determination to fight and never give up, when the enemy tries to mess with her she comes back 10 times stronger. She pushes through and has such a true genuine worship, even when she’s having a tough week or going through. She never lets her circumstances distract her from God’s truth, instead she leans and presses more into God. You can feel the fire she has when she prays and it is such an encouragement as well. And she is like a big sister we all need, she never leaves and War on your behalf, when you don’t have the words to utter she does. And she’s such a true friend, her loyalty runs deep and so does her love 💕
I know they probably won’t ever see this, but I hope they know that I am so grateful each and everyday that God has placed them in my life and I can’t wait for what God has in store for them!! It will be well worth it and just seeing their daily genuine pursuit for Jesus has really pushed me to seek him more with my whole entire heart and I Thank the Lord for their lives 💕💕

My family call me a miracle, I had a brain surgery 3 yrs ago bc I had epilepsy and after that surgery I stopped having seizures. I am now 19. When I was a teen I had to focus on my health compared to people my age that went to parties, making friends etc. I had to get mature fast. It was my own decision to have the surgery. Also I was homeschooled. I was always watched by my family To this day I compare myself to young adults that moved out and went to college and people that are getting engaged. This my start to be independent. This is my start to even learn how to drive . I pray I will stop having depression and doing comparison. I pray I am following God's plans for me.. I have to remind myself God gots me. 🙏🏼❤️

Not Melody coming for my neck. Thanks for this,MELODY.
Only yesterday I broke down thinking about how stuck I feel in life. Its as if things not moving.
And Sis don't get me started on the emotional growing pain... in a season where friends seems to be leaving...etc

I know I’ve been comparing myself a lot of people who are ahead of me in their relationships with God. And it kind of discourages me sometimes. It’s also hard to see so many kids my age or younger doing better than me.

I also compare myself to other people and question god why I’m in the same place etc

Hi Melody! I just found your channel yesterday and I want to thank you for making this video - I needed the encouragement.
The video made me think about my parents and how God's love shows through them. My dad is very patient and invested in others, always wanting to cater to their needs in a practical sense, so he is loved by many people that interact with him. My mum is the 'take charge' lady who is strong willed and has great faith and discipline. She may sound blunt at times, but she is a hard worker who never gives up on people and their wellbeing.
So yes, differences are great and show God's unique design for everyone's life.

I have been comparing myself alot to people’s achievements and I ask myself everyday “when will I get there”? I feel so hurt at times, giving me a low self esteem.

This video is so relevant and your points are exactly what I’ve been feeling and reminding myself about comparison. It’s SO easy to do it in a way that’s not best for us spiritually or mentally. I recently told a friend how admire that she has strong relationships with her young church members and how I want that whenever I go to physical church. You hit a very good point into flipping that into inspiration.

i'm so glad this resonated with you Giania! By you sharing that with your friend it sounds like you're already well on your way to letting comparison ADD to your joy

Hey Melody, thank you for this video. If you’re willing to give me some advice for tip 2. sometimes it’s hard for me to openly share where I feel to help my friends with them without feeling like I’m judging them or even after feeling that I could’ve expressed it better . Let me know if anybody else struggles with this as well & how do you go about it. Thank you in advance 💕
