      It's silly how picky some ants can be! Just be patient... cruentatus is worth the wait!

    Ik krijg deze kolonie ook van een vriend. Hij wil ze graag eerst een mooie start geven voordat ik ze krijg. Maar met deze video hoop ik dat ze snel groeien.

      Ze lekker de tijd geven, en niet teveel gluren. Dan gaat het vast en zeker goedkomen!

    I've just got a queen with her first workers. The test tube it came it was quite small so I've put the tube open in a box so I can put the food in the box. Will this bother the queen? I'm trying not to look at her but really want to know if her brood and nantics are OK.

    • @CamponicoAnts
      @CamponicoAnts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you make sure the temperatures are stable, and the vibrations are minimal you should be good. Brood development will be slow, since hibernation is around the corner. Try to be patient upcoming months, and you'll have a beautifull colony next year!

      @@CamponicoAnts Great. Unfortunately my bedroom is the warmest room so that's where they are currently. There tucked inside a drawer and it's mostly pretty quiet in hereJust noticed this morning that the workers have moved the brood out of the test tube. Odd but I guess they know best.

    Mite on back of major at 1:40 ? I'm not certain but I'm not sure what else it could be.

      Its a speck of sand glued to her body due to juices or sugar.. watching the clip while editing scared me.. so I checked the entire colony...

    When you said put her away in the dark for several weeks were you still feeding ? and how often ? beautiful footage btw .

    • @CamponicoAnts
      @CamponicoAnts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Queen is claustral, and since she ate her brood she has the proteine she needs.. all I gave her was a little bit of sugar, and repeat the process every 3 weeks. So a little bit of proteine, and a drop of sugar.. larvae needs proteine! Good luck man!

    Just got my queen today. She came with 1 nanitic and 5 eggs. So I guess it will be a very slow process :D

    Yay, i also have a camponotus cruentatus colony. I've had for over 1 year and they have about 60 workers but no Major/ media workers, why is this? I feed them as much protein as they take.

    I feed my crickets meat protein, so they don’t cannibalize each other ☝️ Crickets are omnivores, so they’ll cannibalize each other if not provided meat protein 😤
