Dude you are definitely not alone with the Girsan. I purchased the same exact gun just in all black on Black Friday of 2021. I picked it up the following week after shipping. The very first day I used it was the next day which was a Saturday. I put through 125 rounds and I would say about 90 to 95% I had the half cock issue and it went full auto. I thought it was just because of the break-in period. I've been went back to the range again Monday after work to see if it would do the same thing after cleaning it and after having two certified armors look at it without taking it apart. Did the same exact thing with another 100 rounds, in addition to going full auto again. Also one of the casings ejected and cracked the optic. Which by the way I was having the same exact issues with the optic. Turned off by itself a couple times and the optic plate kept coming loose. I then contacted the EAA explain the issues to them and they told me to ship it and they would fix it. I shipped it down there and they received it around December 8th 2021 and I got it back January 10th 2022. This was after I waited the 2-3 business weeks it would take for the repairs, depending on when a technician could get to it. I just took it to the range again this past Saturday January 15th 2021. I also had a good friend of mine whose a certified gunsmith and armor, who himself saw firsthand after shooting it, exactly what the gun was doing as far as malfunctioning. Yes, it did it again. Same exact problem with it only going half cock in addition went full auto again. This was only the first magazine. The ammo that I used was Winchester 230 grain full metal jacket white box. I also tried some frangible 147 grain. Also try a CMC 10 round magazine, the standard magazine, and also a standard 8 round magazine that my friend had for his magnum research 1911 45 ACP. Same design as the Girsan. (Rail and everything). My buddy Even told me to change my grip. That didn't help. He even tried it with the different way of holding it. Didn't work. On the return slip they stated that the sear, the disconnector, and the hammer were replaced. They also stated three magazines of 230 grain ball was used and it was okay. Obviously not if I'm still having the same exact problem as I did when I first initially sent it. After I sent it to EAA the first time, I ended up purchasing an SDS 4.25 Commander carry. No rail. I have put over 200 rounds through that gun along with using CMC 10rd magazines, the standard magazines, Stealth 230 grain fmj ammo and Hornady red tip soft point 185 grain JHPs. I have not had one single issue with that firearm. I've tried different grip styles with it and it's still functions properly. Now, tomorrow January 17th 2022, I have to call them on my lunch break while at work to inform them that it was not properly fixed or thoroughly tested. Now it's to the point where I either want to refund of What I paid to purchase or replace it with a different model. Don't know how that all would work yet but if they're going to attempt to fix it again I feel everything should be replaced except the frame and the grips. I'm really frustrated because it was my very first firearm purchase and I was extremely excited about it, especially given the features and I know how much it would cost for a different brand that's more well known for all of what I got. It's a personal thing for me right now because it was my very first firearm purchase and I'm feeling disappointed and discouraged. If you can shoot me an update as far as what happens when you send yours in to EAA, I would really appreciate it. I really appreciate your reviews because I don't feel as if I'm the only one with these issues anymore. I did watch the other two and I was hoping that mine didn't have that problem before I got it and sure enough it exhibited all the same exact problems. All in all I can agree with you and say it's definitely not the grip, not the ammo, not the magazines. It's the firearm. I share your same thoughts as far as continuing to shoot something that's going full auto and it's not supposed to. Not a safe firearm to continue to shoot. Also I forgot to mention given mine was all black, it came back with the barrel scuffed and had a big filing mark on it which was very visible from the ejection port.

I pinned this. Thank you for such a complete breakdown of what happened. I really appreciate it. Felt pretty alone after deleting about 30 comments of getting called every name in the book because the gun malfunctions were "my fault". I'm glad we both have documented findings on the malfunctions. I'll be sure to keep you updated.

@@BarnOwlProject Thanks for the response. I'll also keep you updated as far as what happens with the next return for repairs. Hopefully they get it right this next go around. I really don't want to get rid of it or have to scrap it. Like I said it's my first purchase and it's kind of a sentimental thing.

@@BarnOwlProject also what I forgot to mention was after that first day at the range with all the malfunctions, I came home and went down a complete rabbit hole from about 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. trying to figure out what could be the possible issue. Learned a ton of things that I didn't know about 1911s. I've been in love with this type of firearm for over 10 years. Ever since I can remember wanting to get into shooting and even having something for personal protection. The first 1911 I had shot was at the same gun range but it was a Springfield 1911 mil spec. It was super accurate and just felt so natural in my hand That's when I went and made the purchase of the Girsan.

@@PapaBear1911 as you can tell I'm a springfield collector. And their 1911's are really nicely made. I have 5...I think lol. 🤔 the girsans appealed to me at the price point and the looks. Plus I'm a southpaw and they come with Ambi safeties.

@BarnOwl Project Finally got my Girsan back Feb 9th after the second trip for repairs. They rebuilt the entire gun, gave me new g10 grips, replaced the optic that was damaged from a casing injecting, threw in a new tek mat, and some whiskey coasters. It shoots wonderfully and works properly as should now. There is one slight thing that needs to be replaced, but they can send me the part and I'll put it in myself. The notch on the grip safety that engages with the trigger bow is worn so it bypasses and still engages the sear spring and the disconnector and drops the hammer. It's a minor fix compared to sending it off twice and it being gone for 2 months.

Update: they want me to send it back again so they can fix the grip safety. This is now the third time since I bought it and each time I've had it it's had to go back within one to two weeks of having it.😒😒😒😒

so i would think it could be related to spring tension within the sear/trigger group? Or maybe the engagement surface for full cock is just a tad too slick or not proud enough? Is there oil intrusion into the sear/trigger group causing a low friction scenario? I'm really interested to figure this out. So does it have the same trigger bar that goes around the mag like a classic 1911? If so is the grip flexing with mag inserted causing it to interfere with the trigger bar?

I have an early XD45 and I HATE shooting it ONLY because it's way to snappy and the main spring is so fucking hard. First time I shot it one handed it spun me around.
