    I see it has been three years since you made these videos. I am thoroughly enjoying them. I would love to build one but first I think I should learn to fly! Thank you for making these. Very therapeutic just watching these. God bless you and your family. Fly safe!

      Thank you for the kind words. I have 400 hours on it now and it just keeps getting more fun each flight!

    Great work. Very impressive. Can you be specific about what brand of clear coat/additive and mixture you used. How has it held up?

      Hi Walter. I use two k automotive clear coat that I got from a friend who runs a body shop. I don't know the brand name but he told me 2k clear coats were pretty much the same. It has held up very well. In a latter video you will see that I clear coated the pilot side up to the strip with a semi gloss clear coat because of exhaust stains. Both are doing very well so far. Harlan, How tall is your plane at the highest point. Checking to see if one will go in and out of my garage. It’s shorter than standard.
    Thank You!

      Jason, My ceiling is 8' 1''. The plane is under 7' but not much and I'm on 26'' tires. I will measure tomorrow for sure. I don't think my 3 blade prop will fit when its on.

      @@KitfoxPilot Thank You Sir, I ordered 850:6 tires with the hopes of squeezing her in there. Also where did you source the faring you had put on your gear?

      @@TheJasonmurphy2005 Jason, those tires should help. The fairings come with the kit.

    Hello Harlan, building a fox myself, You are doing a great job! Wondering what you used as material for the trailing edges of your shock monster gear? Having trouble sourcing anything that fits overall!

    • @KitfoxPilot
      @KitfoxPilot  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mike, the kit comes with short pieces of the same stock you use to do the lift struts. You split it and use half on the front and half on the back. I didn't use the front half because I didn't like the way it fit the big pipe.

    Is it a good idea to put the bearings in some white spirits first to get all the old transport shipping grease off them first? Or can you just get most off by hand. Basically I'm asking if some remnants of the old shipping grease was mixed with the new stuff you put in would be ok? And great job on how you properly pack grease in by hand

      Ok, cool.. I am not down with all this kinda mechanical stuff. But since building this plane, its taught me stuff like dissimilar metals, cross contamination etc etc. This is why I ask so much now. I used to use common sense most of the time, but now I really think about what I am doing. I know Roger moans a lot about the build, but I bet you its put him in good stead for the future. Teaches you so much stuff. Wish I could have had a project like this at his age. Good lad tho, and I do like his vids

      It was a very learning build for me also. Now I have forgot most of it but it sure is fun to fly! Haha

    Thanks for all the videos Harlan, and yes the clearcoat does indeed look nice. But it wasn't clear to me (no pun intended) whether "7 oz" was the weight of liquid before you sprayed or the weight gain of the plane after it dried. Which was it?

    • @KitfoxPilot
      @KitfoxPilot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glenn, 7 oz of clear and flex combined then 20% thinner. I didn't count the thinner because its gone.
