Beehive In A Bucket!

  • Beehive In A Bucket!
    This one's pretty self explanatory folks, removed a beehive that successfully overwintered inside of a 5 gallon bucket.
    The owner "Mr. Robinson" moved into this residence about 2 months previously & discovered he had inherited a beehive in a bucket located on the back corner of his shed.
    I had to trim a bunch of weed trees & vines & stuff to get anywhere near the bucket but believe it or not that's pretty much par for the course when you're a bee removal guy.
    At first the colony was somewhat testy & stung myself & Mr. Robinson but after a little smoke & some assurances that I wasn't going to harm them they calmed down quite magnificently.
    If you enjoyed this video please consider subscribing to my channel & please share my channel with other. I'd really appreciate that!
    Honey Bees are wonderful & beneficial pollinators. Please consider calling a live bee removal specialist if you are faced with an unwanted colony at your residence or workplace.
    I specialize in live honey bee removal & often share the honey from these removals with the home owners who call me out. If you've never tried raw honey fresh from the hive, the first chance you get you'll never want to buy cheap store bought honey again.
    Always seek out raw, lightly filtered & unpasteurized honey from your local area if possible.
    Thanks again for stopping by, hope you stay awhile.

      Actually, honey bees as I understand it aren't native to North America.

    • @JPthebeeman
      @JPthebeeman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      They were brought over from Europe in 1622 but back then we didn’t have anywhere near the amount of people we have today. Today they are extremely important in pollinating more than a 1/3 of the fruits, nuts & vegetables we consume.

      The bees are extremely valuable, not only to the environment, but financially too. A person worked out that your average well fed worker bee, on average, is worth half a cent. There were 2,000 bees there. The Queen Bee could be worth $20.
      I'm not an apiarist, and pulled these figures from the honeybeesuite website on a post which is 9 years old, so values may be different now.
      Take what I've said with a grain of salt.

    I seen an article today in the news that the Asian Giant Hornet is now in America. The article has them up around Washington State, but it won't be long til it makes it's way south to warmer regions. 5 of these hornets can kill a honey bee hive of 20k or more no problem, so keep your eye out for them. I know you don't generally wear a bee suit, and it won't really matter since their stinger, which feels like a hot metal poker driving into your skin can penetrate a bee suit. You can't miss them if you see them, they are about 2in long. I am only bringing it to your attention, I enjoy yall's videos and want you to be safe.

    • @Pattoe
      @Pattoe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Their sting may feel like a hot metal poker to us, but what do our slaps and stamps feel like to them? I'd say considerably worse.
