Thirty four THOUSAND dollars?!?! No, but seriously, this video was incredible. Well done! Was sorry to miss this year, but you made me less sad. Thank you for the hard work filming and editing!
yeah, most of the trailers if not all go for over 10k. One of the overland expos a year or 2 ago back had al the prices. They also had more trailer variety. Still really cool. I want to go to the next one.
Great video, I e-mailed JXL several times never a response, I don’t understand why they don’t response to a consumer who want to buy a conversion????????

Putting the red tail overland next to the Twain trailer was the funniest bit of contrast in this whole video. Having the most extravagant item be immediately followed by the simplest and practical item was a work of art.
I like the Supertramp camper. Would have liked to hear about the R value of the composite shell. Door looks pretty thin so was curious about insulation. Love the floorplan but I would delete the stove altogether.
on my 2002 I disconnected the injection control and abs completely. I currently live in Seattle Washington which gets more rain than pretty much any state in the United States. My 2002 Sequoia works excellent in the rain any halfway School driver have no issues.
$30,000+ for a RTT??? They do realize Tear Drop Trailers exist right? Or really anything in that range of size for half the price (and even less). In my opinion... I don't think I would have went any higher than $10,000 (top of the line model).
Yeah...that was my thought as well, considering you can get the same thing in canvas for around 3 to 4k, that is way over priced. You can buy a 24 foot trailer for less than his RTT...
Good vid Much appreciated. Really digging the Twain trailer. But I can’t believe the price for the hard sided rtt. WOW also buying a fire binder right now!lol
That's no lie. But you can get something basic for under $5,000. I think you can (or used-ta could) get into a basic Hiker trailer for just under $3,000. It's pretty hard to go wrong from a reputable manufacturer, and there are quite a few. As an experienced camper, I already have all the gear and my own systems for setups. So I might aim at one of those. Still, there're some worthwhile labor-saving built-ins I'd be interested in, like oversized water tanks with hot- and cold-running water. I might even spring for electric water tank heaters to keep from freezing, just to have that water luxury all 4 seasons. Also, electric air-conditioner and some kind of heater. I'm not sure about heater. I think you could use an oil/gas/kerosene lantern for light and it would generate enough heat to keep the chill off. Be nice to have a sealed lantern stand, with its own chimney and outside air supply. I think Colorado Teardrop's, whoops! Their prices musta went up, recently! I was gonna say, they make a bulletproof with wraparound R13 insulation and double (or triple) paned windows, which would be perfect for that kind of application. Last time I checked, they didn't even put heaters in them, they were so snug. But most of their early customers only really used them to sleep in. Just having the R13 plus total wind and weather protection, and you're plenty cozy in a decent sleeping back or pile of blankets. But their basic unit was like $15,000 and the next bigger/better was $18,000. Now the cheapest one starts at $24,000 and the next one up is $26,000. But they're making some top-quality offroad teardrops in Colorado. I think Rustic Mountain Overland and Hiker are also from Colorado. Hiker started and remains the company that gives the best price on an entry-level teardrop. Even the cheapest one is ten times better than your typical American-style flimsy plastic house on bicycle wheels camper. I've seen where a determined Texan can drag one of those in the Colorado Rockies, and I'd say even the cheapest of the Hikers can pretty much go anywhere you're not afraid to go with your 4x4 with something behind it. A guy like me, just having ANY trailer means I can camp PLUSH. Why just 2 batteries when there's room for 4? LOL! We can bring the lodge tent and the above-ground pool for the kids!
This isn't camping..... This is people who don't want to pay for a hotel/motel, or rent a spot from an RV park. Instead, they park in a roadside tent site, eliminating that opportunity for real camping enthusiasts.
