Yeah, in both the novels and the movie, we mainly had a focus on Scott, and a little bit on Ramona, but not on the other minor characters, like Young Neil and the exes. But here in the anime, it’s nice to get a proper focus on Ramona, seeing her get closure between her and the exes, as well as seeing moments like these with some of the minor characters.
I love what they did with Neil, and every character pretty much in this Adaptation, but it's nice to see that they actually gave him *something* to do while still keeping him hilarious. Really hope he's still present in season 2 🙏
Good luck getting an all-star cast like that back together for a second season of an anime. I was already shocked that a freaking full-blown anime series had them in it. This was a rare treat I think.
Young Neil talks like a bee and puppy cat character and that alone is enough to make him my favorite, then they made him stupid and funny and now I love him sm lmao
Not gonna lie, there's something weirdly appealing about the voice acting in this show being so laid back and realistic compared to most cartoons out right now. It's charming, especially for characters like Neil, his performance was so freaking funny.
Young Neil in this show gives the same vibes of Todd from BoJack Horseman, a lovable airhead who's clearly not the brightest but somehow keep ending up in various situations.

I really don't understand people who call him autistic, he has nothing to do with it, I say from experience, an autistic person usually has a lot of language errors when talking to people, in addition to constantly avoiding social relationships, and other behaviors considered strange by society's standards, these things I don't see in Neil, he's just an idiot. Sorry for the bad English, I'm not from here.
