Did you notice any signs your cat was at the end of their life? 😢

Stopped using litter box. Some of the household thought the cat had suddenly become "dumb" but it was obvious something was wrong. She was 20 years old so not unexpected. A trip to the vet confirmed stage 4 kidney disease. We put her on special food and enjoyed her company for 10 more days. We were lucky, she was still able to go outside, run up and down the stairs (not always making it without stopping), and seeking out members of the house for cuddles. We did notice that after we brought the travel cage out to take her to the vet, she preferred to sleep in it, I guess as the video suggests, it was secluded and safe. She kept up her usual schedule to the end, though she had to be coaxed to eat. On her last day she finally lost her appetite and wouldn't drink, and we knew it was time. We took her to the animal hospital as the veterinarian said that letting her to expire naturally might result in a cardiac event that would be extremely painful. She was thankfully out of it during the car ride and once she was in the exam room, she couldn't even move her head. We were very thankful we had taken her to the vet and found how little time we had, as it gave us the opportunity to spoil her, and also react quickly on the last day with the confidence we were doing the right thing.

My cat Sonya recently passed from cancer and kidney failure, was no longer responding to meds from the vet. She also completely stopped eating, drinking water, was pacing and passed away the beginning of this year. Heartbroken. 💔💔 Thank you so much for this informative video and I like your voice!!! 💞💞

Thank you for this compassionately provided information, most helpful. I have watched five beloved cats, in turn, grow old and become ill and at death's door. The desire to hide and be alone, the litter box misses, the loss of appetite; one of them seemed to be getting dementia and would suddenly stop and look around seeming to be confused and she would look at me and I could see her fear. I have had them all euthanized when the illness became a source of constant suffering, rather than drag out the painful death process. It was the loving thing to do, I truly believe that, but I am still haunted by guilt for making the decision to end their lives with the help of the vet. Regardless of my own feelings of guilt about "playing God", I would hope that someone would do the same for me, to be honest. There is nothing noble about suffering.
