Update - January 2023 stock went way less than $1000 dollars in fact equivalent of $300 dollars (post stock split 100 dollars) - you have to know what to do when trade goes against you.

I saw some comments that we can close the 'put' options earlier than the designated expiry date. 1) If possible to close the 'put' option earlier, then what happens to the premium that we initially received? 2) What happens to initial premium received and any more losses if we close the 'put' option earlier when the TSLA stock price is HIGHER than the $1000 strike? 3) What happens to initial premium received and any more losses if we close the 'put' option earlier when the TSLA stock price is LOWER than the $1000 strike?
you need to buy back the put option at whatever the current market price is... so if you received 100k like he did, maybe you need to buy it back at a higher or lower priced depending on the current stock price in relation to the strike price.

Hey Chicken. Thanks for linking the longer video with the step by step. I have been thinking of a way to get some cash without having to sell my shares. $100K is way more than one year of living for me with what I want to do so I have to look at this carefully as I don't need the money now. I want to start living a bit more though and I intended to wait another 4 years from now before making any moves. If Tesla hits my target price $4200 I am Gucci, but if it is only double what it is today (not likely but possible since nothing is absolute except 0) I will be at a point in my life where I will want to live a bit. $100k would do me for at least 3 years ( even with the way inflation is today) since my cost of living is very low and I only mainly want to travel. You provide options (no pun intended) so I really need to understand how this works. I have some stuff going on that I have to take care of, but it is also forcing me to look at how hard I have been on myself. I've done well (I keep telling myself that) and I think I have to give myself some slack to enjoy what I have accomplished, even if I known Tesla is far from "done". Thanks Chicken.

I left utube comments saying "I'll buy back @$85." I was shunned bcuz of it. I'm still 100% in cash. Still awaiting $85. I'm still convicted. Would you consider buying to close your Puts if the stock rallied so you could free up your capital? If so, what return do you look for if you're going to close the put? This is such a simple math problem and you nailed it! I wish I had your conviction that the economy isn’t going to tank and drop well below your break even. If it wasn’t such a high % of my portfolio I’d gladly pull the trigger. Your logic is sound.
Hi Ken! I wanted to clarify smth you said in the video - about how the option premium can be used immediately for reinvestment. I just executed a very similar put option and the premium was paid out, but because the value of the option is currently negative (my understanding is because it’s now a liability), I do not have cash available on the platform to be used for further trading. Neither can I cash out the premium since the contract has not expired. Im thus wondering what you mean by the money can be immediately used for reinvestment. Was it a figure of speech? In my case, the value of the option will creep to 0 as time passes which will free up cash available, but I am definitey not able to use the whole premium immediately. Is this different across platforms? I used Saxo for this trade. Do enlighten me if you can. Either way, appreciate the advice on this strategy. A long time follower of your channel here. Definitely changed my life for the better 😄
