You could leverage margins. But should be ready to liquidate other stocks or have enough money in case a margin call happens upon Tesla dropping precipitously. People should learn well the margin requirements and how maintenance excess is calculated for their accounts before using margin. It is risky

    • @elektrotehnik94
      @elektrotehnik94 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

True... the full risk of options is WAY bigger than with stocks & you REALLY need to be aware of what risks you are taking.
It "could" be a bankruptcy kind of loss, if you mess it up real bad.
As in, buying stocks can only go to 0$ worst case, if the company goes bankrupt... options can go MINUS 10.000$, or (much) more, if you are a complete donkey. ^^
Think twice & be prepared (there can be a lot of upside potential, a lot of downside risk)

Elon is someone to aspire to, According to analyst, the higher stock price is somewhat self-fulfilling to (Tesla's) growth potential and that was made possible by Tesla's investments in the stock market, I’m right behind him on the “ROAD TO TRILLION" I’m happy to buy Tesla stocks but not the car. I’ll let some else do that.

The thing about covered calls is, although the stock can shoot up past your strike, you just roll the weekly into the next week at a higher strike. During that time, the IV will be really high and your contract for the following week will cancel out the loss of surging past your previous strike. In this case, I’m happy either way because my shares would have gone up quite a bit!! I think your strategy works well in conjunction with selling weekly OTM covered calls. Selling close to expiration is very satisfying to watch theta decay crush the contracts! Appreciate you my man. Hope your tesla comes in soon!

I use covered calls but go out far enough on the strike price to earn 1% a week. Weekly options. Tesla does not move like it used to. Maybe max 28-35 dollars at a time. One percent a week is 52% plus the rise in the stock. Win win

Damn man. I've been using this for like 15 months to make millions of Tesla stock so I could buy more Tesla stock. You are giving away all the good secrets :). I usually sell a few different strikes just out of the money and move them out and down or back and up depending on market price action to maximise profits. Don't want to be picking up pennies in front of bulldozers that's for sure. I usually sell weeklies though with 7 to 14 days till expiry to maximise time decay. Works out. better than the monthlies I've found.

Hi, great video as always! Love selling options for some cash flow. I see that your briefly mentioned that those who sell puts will possibly have to set aside ~80k in case they get assigned and have to purchase the stocks. just my opinion but i feel like this risk should have been highlighted more considering how you are advocating selling ATM puts, which kinda means that the odds of assigning are higher than selling OTM puts. I dont think many people have margin of 80k, much less actual cash. Most of them would actually run the risk of getting margin called if they aren’t aware of this point. Just my 2 cents! Risk management is important! Thanks for the video!

I’ve realized that if you’re not scared, you’re not taking any risks and if you’re not taking any risks, you’re not going to become wealthy. Just remember, when the $hit hits the fan, and it will, HODL(hold on for dear life) and keep buying(dollar cost averaging) because you are an investor, not a trader. Okay so:
      1 option (contract) = 100 shares
Very simplified -> an option (contract) is basically that you pay a fee to make another person buy 100 shares (1 option) for you, at a certain price (called strike price) for a certain time period (Anywhere from 1 day to 3 years)
At the end of the time period (or at any time in between) you have the OPTION to buy the 100 share at the certain price (strike price) you agreed.
You make profit if the stock goes up above your fee cost, and if the stock drops you have the OPTION to dismiss the contract, so the lender takes the loss instead of you.
Very simplified example tesla at $816 price (strike price):
You pay $6000 in fees to make chicken buy 100 shares ($816 * 100 = $81.600 start value) and the time period is 30 days.
      25 days later the stock price is at $900 (100 shares value = $90.000 (new) - 81.600 (start) = $8.400 - $6000 fees = $2400 profit)
You decide to "use" your rights to buy the 100 shares and sell them immediately after, so that you can take the $2400 profit instead.
      In this case you made (8400 / 6000) * 100% = 1,4 = 40% profit and chicken made $6000 with no losses. Win / Win
I really tried to dumb it down as much as possible, hope it makes a bit more sense ^^

It's probably less to do with the TH-cam teacher and more to do with how you're absorbing the information. Repeat what the source says several times and write it down. Then try to say it differently so that you can wrap your head around it. The more time you take to understand, the more it'll sink in.

Else, the person will be selling a naked put and be exposed to great loss if the stock price really tank downwards. That would mean that the seller needs to have $79,000 ready to buy the shares. However, since he has received the premium of $6,200 when he first entered the contract, his actual cost of owning the shares will be $72,800. People sell puts when they are bullish in a stock. I have been selling puts on TSLA for a while now.
Mostly out of the money options.
People need to be careful of the tail risk if they are selling at the money/near the money because its much more likely you will get assigned the shares and need to have $79,000 in cash to purchase.
Most premium sellers don't like getting assigned and hence you should roll down and out.
Should not enter this trade until you are familiar with these mechanics.
