Gorgeous wedding photos, Billie! Love your dress❤

My gown had no lace, no ruffles. I wanted something plain, like Miss Potter's, but those silk charmeuse numbers cost in the thousands back when I tied the knot. Our photographer made me look great!

One of the comments you made at the beginning of this episode was that you enjoy knitting on small needles, as do I. It reminded me of a woman who used to come into the shop I worked out when I was in Court Reporting school. She was from Germany and she did not like to knit on anything bigger than a US size 3 needle. The garments she made were always fluid and beautiful and very feminine, what we would call vintage now, I suppose, after the Annie Hall era where everything became oversized.
I still believe you will finish on time for Rhinebeck and I am very excited to see this Norwegian sweater completed.
And what a beautiful bride you were and how lovely your mom was, helping you with your dress.

My mom was everything! Miss her madly! She taught me to knit when I was 4. You can see the needles in one of my early episodes.

A very happy anniversary to you and your husband!! Your dress is gorgeous, the whole wedding outfit:the headpiece, the gloves and the vintage ''love knots'' in your bouquet. I love the pic with your mom.
What a train Miss Porter's dress had! I wonder how many pages (is that the right name?) she had to help her with it.
I heard about the sleeping exhibit. I look forward to seeing more of your pics and describing how they smelled.
The color of yarn for your sailor sweater appears to be a lovely shade of aqua. Very cool and refreshing. I have a copy of that pattern but have too many WIPs to join in. Good luck to everyone in the knit along!

Thanks for the good wishes. The headpiece was vintage...buried in the corner of the showcase...they didn't even want to show it to me!
I went back to the museum today to have another look at that gown. Black marks were on the very end where people may have trod on it. I guess it was too hard to have it cleaned.
Glad you like the aqua color. I think it will work with other things in my wardrobe. Let me know when you do start this pattern. My private videos (behind a pay wall) may have info that will be useful to you if you're trying to resize.

Hi Billie, your show was fantastic! I enjoyed the background stories about knitwear throughout history, especially the part about how knitting wasn't allowed at live music events. I'm a knitting enthusiast-I knit everywhere, whether at a coffee shop, in the park, on a train, the subway, commuting to work, or even on my way to a vacation. I can knit just about anywhere you can imagine. I absolutely adore your show, you're such a delight! Sending lots of love from China.

I knit everywhere, too! We're lucky to have a hobby that's portable. Can't take your piano on the plane!

Yes you will finish it, of course. Blue 20 grams, white 30 grams. As a newish knitter at 53 years old, loving everything about this art, I cannot soak in enough information about it and it's history. Thank you for such a lovely and wonderful channel to watch and learn from, you are delightful 💙

Soon I won't be able to wear sleeveless sweaters because it will be sweat-a weath-a.

This is a wild guess 170g of each colour? And I too believe you will finish it in time, barring some sort of unanticipated catastrophe! I can't wait to see it -it looks fantastic on you already. Your Jeannie is looking as exquisite on you as it always does - well worth the 4 months of knitting. I really appreciate your taking the time to describe and show us some photos from the exhibition, I think I would go back a few times too, for sure. Finally, many congratulations to you both. Your outfits are beautiful and timeless, and it's such a wonderful photo of you with your mother. You sure were a good-looking woman, Billie, you still have the same intensity.

I still can't tell if this takes the identical amount of white and blue. I won't know 'til I'm through! I went back to the exhibit today...more to come. Thanks for all the compliments! I miss my amazing mother every day...wish she could have starred on my show...she was one of a kind.

I love the color of your new sweater on you. I know a gal who knits at her church during the sermon she stated. I’m not brave enough to try that where I attend.I do knit in my drs office and of course while flying or car riding. Thanks for another great episode. You were a beautiful bride, & happy anniversary to you both & many more.

So enjoyed this episode. I love the little sweater you are working on now…well, then… I’m a month late with this viewing. Not sure I’ll ever knit a vintage sweater, but I used to collect and wear vintage clothing. I loved the whole experience back in the day. My favorite period was the 1940s, but had clothing from as early as the Edwardian period. So, I really enjoy seeing your knitting. The wedding dress was fabulous. I wish I could have seen the exhibit. Lived it vicariously through your video. Thank you. I’m a new subscriber and am watching your backlog.m

Welcome, welcome! Have you sold off your vintage collection, or can we still see it? If you are still interested in vintage, why not try a vintage knit? I'll be doing more knit-alongs in the future, so stay tuned.

Hi Billie, how the heck did the bride walk in that dress? 😂 Did you sniff the garments? Happy belated anniversary ❤. I've been so busy. Only now things have calmed down enough for me to catch up on my knitting and TH-cam videos. I have over 100 videos in my watch later list!

Now, that was a question for AI! I did scan the QR code so I could ask a few questions, but that wasn't one of them 🙃 My train was all lifted up into a bustle; perhaps she draped hers over her arm? There were some black marks on it, which left me feeling someone had trod on it.

That pale blue yarn is gorgeous. I’m curious to know how it will feel after washing or blocking or whatever. Did it stretch or shrink, etc. etc. Thanks for great video!

    • @ShowandTellknitting
      @ShowandTellknitting  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I washed my swatch and it's soft but not as soft as other cashmeres I've felt. No shrinkage or stretch, possibly because it's stranded and a pretty tight gauge.
