One of the comments you made at the beginning of this episode was that you enjoy knitting on small needles, as do I. It reminded me of a woman who used to come into the shop I worked out when I was in Court Reporting school. She was from Germany and she did not like to knit on anything bigger than a US size 3 needle. The garments she made were always fluid and beautiful and very feminine, what we would call vintage now, I suppose, after the Annie Hall era where everything became oversized. I still believe you will finish on time for Rhinebeck and I am very excited to see this Norwegian sweater completed. And what a beautiful bride you were and how lovely your mom was, helping you with your dress.

I love the color of your new sweater on you. I know a gal who knits at her church during the sermon she stated. I’m not brave enough to try that where I attend.I do knit in my drs office and of course while flying or car riding. Thanks for another great episode. This is a wild guess 170g of each colour? And I too believe you will finish it in time, barring some sort of unanticipated catastrophe! I can't wait to see it -it looks fantastic on you already. Your Jeannie is looking as exquisite on you as it always does - well worth the 4 months of knitting. I really appreciate your taking the time to describe and show us some photos from the exhibition, I think I would go back a few times too, for sure. Finally, many congratulations to you both. I love the pic with your mom. What a train Miss Porter's dress had! I wonder how many pages (is that the right name?) she had to help her with it. I heard about the sleeping exhibit. I look forward to seeing more of your pics and describing how they smelled. The color of yarn for your sailor sweater appears to be a lovely shade of aqua. Very cool and refreshing. Yes you will finish it, of course. Blue 20 grams, white 30 grams. As a newish knitter at 53 years old, loving everything about this art, I cannot soak in enough information about it and it's history. Thank you for such a lovely and wonderful channel to watch and learn from, you are delightful 💙

I would think the blue and white 2 will be finished but I will guess 25 grams and for set 1 blue and white 35 grams. Good luck! Hi Billie, I know you asked me before about Jen but I don't know her. However, I do know Nurturing Fibres! Noma Ndlovu, a South African knitwear designer, often uses their yarns for her projects. She talks about it on her youtube channel, Biggerthanlife Knits. My mom has crocheted some projects with their yarn. I'm leaving for South Africa soon for a 6-month visit. I'm catching the tail end of winter so temperatures will rise, making knitting with wool less appealing. Thus I'm planning to get into the summer fibres!

Hi! I would be interested in the knit along, but I must admit I’m quite busy in August - grad school starts anew at this time! Would the knit along have a hard deadline by which to finish the sweater? I’m not really sure I could finish it very quickly because of all the stuff that’s going on for me, but I like the pattern : )

some companies list the weight of their cones in the yarn ad

Agree Billlie. Those little scales are so helpful and despite the low price tag work incredibly well and seem to be indestructible. Useful in many knitting situations, not least when playing yarn chicken. Couldn't do without mine.

You can also weigh the cone when you first buy the yarn, and assume that if the yarn + cone weigh 600g and the cone is supposed to hold 500g of yarn, than the cone itself is 100g. You can do this before you start knitting from the cone. Hope it helps!

Hi Billie, knitting certainly keeps the mind and the hands nimble. Your colorwork project looks beautiful. I also have an upcoming "challenge" recreating a pattern from photos. One of my husband's cousin's son (lol) is a talented young singer. Last year he represented South Africa in a singing contest in New York. He won a gold medal in the pop category. He wants a sweater he saw in a Canadian pop singer's music video. His mom asked me if I could recreate it. I'm now waiting for the yarn to be shipped before I can start it. Whenever I find myself in a casino, I stay away from the tables because that's where you lose a lot of money in a very short time. I liked the old fashioned slot machines. Not those new things that's more like a video game. I only play them for entertainment, not to win big money. However, I always did have good luck on them. So this brings me to a story of my own. Many years ago, there was a festival held on the ground of a local resort (greek Mykonos themed). I was there with colleagues from the newspaper I was working at. One of the stalls had great shark tooth necklaces (very surfer like). My eldest son always wanted one but I didn't have enough cash on me to buy it. So I ran to the casino in the resort.and played a slot machine with the little cash I had on me until I won enough to buy the necklace lol.

always enjoy listening to you Billie! I'm sure I've said this before, but you are a great story-teller and have a lovely voice. I'm also looking to be challenged by patterns and techniques. I try to have a learning project and a straightforward one on my needles, but it never quite works out that way! I have several WIPS that need brainpower to get them finished, brainpower that eludes me. Your top looks so nice on you and appears as if it's very soft and comfortable - have you talked about it previously? Your Norwegian-inspired jersey is looking amazing, hope it goes smoothly as I can't wait to see it finished!

I'm a risk taker with my hobbies as well. I think I have about as many failures as successes. I'm always trying to push the envelope and do something new and I don't care much for popular things. I also tend to drop hobbies and start new ones once I get good at it because I like learning new things.

Good story; when you talked about learning after retirement I thought of all the Sockmatician patterns I have and want to try- double knitting patterns are so cool. 😊

Hi Billie, your guest was so fascinating that I had to watch the whole show in one viewing. I hope Jerri will write a book about her life in the fashion industry and her family. When I looked up her gorgeous blouses, I came across a page about her on The Gotham Center for NY History web site. I read Babe Ruth was her neighbor, about the Huk-A-Poo label, her dance career, auditioning for the Rockettes, being a showroom model, etc., etc. Jerri's knitting is so complicated, vivid and detailed.

Really enjoyed this interview. She I’d just adorable. Always watch your videos but not often comment. This one deserves a 👍. Thank you for all your video work.
