    You have no idea how long I've wanted one of these. Wicked score!

    • @vvtheduckvv
      @vvtheduckvv  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I've also wanted one for about 4-5 years. Finally got to a point I just NEEDED TO HAVE IT to get some things done quickly. With how cheap I got it, It paid for itself the first day I used it!

    Great breakdown. I'm 6'2" and I had the same crick in my neck until I put a set of casters on the legs. That lifted it up enough that I no longer have to hunch to get my arms into the holes and look through the top. Plus, I can wheel it over to the garage door and work were I won't spill any sand, then wheel it back when I'm done.

    I have a smaller model meant for bench top. I mounted it to my shop wall. Unfortunately being in a wheel chair I wasnt tall enough for the larger cabinet. But I make do with this smaller one. I also had to seal all my edges as it leaked bad. But for the price you can't beat it. If the gun is crap you can always buy a higher quality one and use it down the road. That's my plan. I've restored 2 1989 Honda fl400 pilots and working on a 1972 Chevy k20 and its so nice being able to blast away rust and crappy paint. The paint on the back wall is all blasted off. That's how much I use mine

    • @vvtheduckvv
      @vvtheduckvv  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that must be a lot of blasting. Even with a full 120psi I its difficult to get the paint off of mine, even when I try, lol. Anyway, I'd like my unit to be higher, so I will probably put it on some casters which adds convenience for moving it around, too.

    • @nitrosport5
      @nitrosport5 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      vvtheduckvv yeah its definitely well used! Casters would be a good idea. I know mounted to the wall sucks at times when its in the way

    You could put an led bulb in place of the mono filament bulb you have in your drop light and this would allow it to run with no heat coming off it what so ever. Thanks

    You might consider just building a small platform or use cinder blocks to raise the cabinet up some . . . I can relate.

    • @vvtheduckvv
      @vvtheduckvv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I considered one with a few dolly wheels under it to make it easy to move.

    This is branded in my local market as the HAFCO SB-200, which I am looking at buying. Thanks for the review! (and lol at the swastika and the response to the swastika! that was a bit of unexpected bonus content!)

  • @tcbgmgmm
    @tcbgmgmm 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wife bought me the same cabinet she had it delivered to the house. nice surprise! of course then it had to be assembled. wasn't all that bad. my only complaint is the hoses collapsing and prolonging the blasting time immensely. tries different hoses to no avail.

  • @GlockG34
    @GlockG34 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I bought mine, I "test drove" the one in the store and guessed that it was about 4" too low for me to work comfortably with, so I also picked up four 3" locking casters and fit them under the legs. It's at the perfect height now, and portable.
    I also use a small shop vac, but never have the gloves or sides suck in unless I don't remove the cap in the back. (NOTE: If you don't run the vacuum, make sure that cap is on! My buddy wanted to blast something quick and didn't want to go turn on the vacuum, and filled my shop with dust in about 10 seconds!)
    Like any sandblaster, this thing uses a LOT of air. I have one of Harbor Freight's "$99 special" 20 gallon air compressors and a 20 gallon compressor in my service van, about 160' of 1" pipe in my shop, and I tie in 2 converted forklift propane tanks for reserve, and both compressors run constantly after blasting for about two minutes. One of these small shop size compressors won't even come close to keeping up.

    • @vvtheduckvv
      @vvtheduckvv  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      GlockG34 We're on the same page! I'm about to build a frame underneath mine, with casters. Thinking I need about 8 to 10" to prevent the creak in my neck and severe neck and shoulder pains the next day (TEXT NECK!) Besides, the casters would make it nice to roll around the shop. It seems nothing in my shop stays in the same place for long. Too small of a space, and too much stuff going in and out all the time!
      Thanks for the comment! :-D

    I use drywall dust filters in my shop-vac and they filter the dust great, Ive got my vac sitting right next to the cabinet.

    Try wearing laytex gloves when you put your hands into the gauntlets... Saves the issues you experience with your hands getting stuck... It also keeps the gauntlets a little fresher!

    • @vvtheduckvv
      @vvtheduckvv  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestion, that may keep the gloves a bit fresher for sure... but it won't help make my hands any smaller, thats why they are difficult to get on and off... they're too small! I actually tore them to shreds because I require too much force to get them on and off.

    Nice video man! Did people really thumbs down this? Wow. Anyway this is the setup I'd like to go with and I was wondering what compressor that is that you have there. I can tell it's the Harbor Freight one but what size and all that? Thanks for the vid!

  • @Abom79
    @Abom79 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sure is nice having a blast cabinet in the shop. I love having mine. You got a great but on that one. Maybe you can build some risers to bring it up to a more suitable height for you so your not bent over so bad. A couple of 4x4 timbers may work wonders.

    Thanks for showing 👍it might help your neck strain if you make a tray or the legs to sit on with a little frame round it to stop the legs drifting off .and put it on castors large ones in your case so you don't have to stoop over it ,I made one for mine it's more comftable and you can wheel it round your shop with ease .Ant from Wales UK .

    The sand gets used over and over until you change it out?
    Pretty good vid/ thanks alot😇

    • @vvtheduckvv
      @vvtheduckvv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The "sand" eventually turns into a fine powder and loses its abrasiveness. I've been using glass beads mostly, so its not really sand. Sand isn't as effective and gets powdery easier. The media needs to be replaced when it stops cutting. Hope that helps explain things! Thanks much for the question!

    • @bennyhill3642

    Thanks for sharing your insight with this product. I'm in a learning curve and absorbing everything. That said, you mentioned the height. I'm 5'3", so that is good to know the cabinet is short for me. Have you considered using blocks under the legs to elevate it to a good height for yourself? What is your experience with silica as a blasting material?

    • @vvtheduckvv

    • @vvtheduckvv
      @vvtheduckvv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My 60 gallon compressor that I have nowadays seems to hold up pretty well, it doesn't stop running, but it keeps on going without having to pause. If I do stop, I can get a little more pressure, and as thus more power for stubborn spots. It works well! Thanks for asking!

      Jalopy Boys, I have a pretty small 30 gal compressor and with the gun that came with the cabinet, I was able to make pretty good progress blasting at 40 to 50 psi without the compressor cycling too much. I recently upgraded to an Eastwood gun, the pattern is bigger but I have to set the regulator to 80 psi. Because of the new gun, I have to wait on the compressor to catch up about every minute.
