Yes
Where from you get this old transformers

Ok sir
For another project can you use more engines? I’ve wanted to build a motorized trike but if you say this is 18 or older then maybe you could do a no weld video sometime? :D love your videos boss!
nice work
i love the finger-testing for voltage
Tobias it’s only 30 volts. His hands were presumably dry, therefore they were at around 100,000Ω; meaning the current running through his hand was
@@bruhmomenthdr7575 you didnt factor in the sweat that he might have on palm? Damn its time bomb before we see funeral of this guy
@Tobias no look again
30 volts is enough you would want to wear gloves with that kind of amperage!
@@bruhmomenthdr7575 People who are electrocuted are electrocuted for doing such operations without protection, in a hurry and thinking they know
For the improvement, add switch for the transformator 3 and 4 at the power input so you can run ½ power, ¾ power, and full power so you don't make a hole when you weld thin metal.
Azman Hadi if you put a switch in the 3 transformer you turn off the welder. Connect them in parallel, and that will work. As they are connected now, if anyone of them is turned off, all the circuit goes off.
Edit: this is completely wrong. What OP says is correct, and quite a good idea. I somehow completely forgot how electricity works for a while and managed to write this comment in that time.
@@somedude2492 the primaries _are_ in parallel
@@xConundrumx yeah my bad. Stupid one year younger me thought of the transformers as switching psu's. Even if the transformer is turned off, it's still a wire. It still conducts electricity. I guess at that moment i thought for some reason that if the transformer is not powered the secondary somehow disconnects in the middle.
@@somedude2492 the trafo you want to disconnect the primary, then short that primary !! this way you also short the sec winding, of that trafo, and this way you get what you wanted, a lower output voltage, less power.
@@TeardownOZ2CPU when you disconnect the primary the secondary already gets shorted. There is no need to short the primary.
I made my welder from 2 microwave transformers about a year ago. Wired in series, except I used 14 gauge solid copper wire. 210 peak amps 140 welding. The best electrodes for my welding machine ate 6011 & 6013.
Also, I wired a 30a breaker to a power strip, just in case. No problems, many, many welds
How many turns did you do with the 14 gauge wire?
15 turns on each transformer.
It still welds great. I have had to resolder at the ground clamp connection 3-4 times because of the solid wire. At the electrode holder I soldered a about a foot of braided copper wire. Will most likely do the same on ground clamp

I love all things TH-cam DIY channels do with old microwave transformers. Makes sense I guess, they are cheap, plentiful, and powerful. Keep up the good work.

Its more difficult to weld toes, but it can be done
Even the cables was thin

The way to make an arc welding machine is very simple by you. Great job! However, safety is first. You should perform using the machine in a safe manner for amateurs. Thank you very much for your video!
I just finished it, and it works flawlessly .. you are great!

great scott need to see this 😅
I like it, it's the better machine, I'm Luis peña from Maracaibo Venezuela congratulation
I'm not going to hate on the Flip Flops, because I welded while wearing Crocs before.
Crocs are even better, like wearing cages to keep those cherries in lol

Yes, great idea to invent machine is beneficially for people whose are hard working in technology. I look to learn more to earn this skillful idea for myself. I’m exciting to learn more to earn this dream to be true for me. You’re super skillful man in my dream.
Im amazed by the ingenuity and horrified by the utter lack of safety at the same time lol
same same xD
straight post-apocalyptic bro. Awesome!
Wow you could hear the EF coming through the audio. Nice creation. Works great! 👍
I wonder what hertz it is & if they are stable?
Wow, I think you may just have invented arc welding ! 👏

Highly intelligent people! Love it !
oh bro nice make, I love your chanel
Too much current, measure your existing factory welder you will see the volts are around 48 to 56 volts AC, try using more turns about 15 to 18 of a slightly thinner wire, and make some taps on the second, third and forth secondary of the mots, and make a rotary switch on a piece of bakelite/thick plexi using flattened copper tubing, add a fan/s, add a breaker 30 amps double pole and indicator, and make a metal case with vents, two casters under the case and a decent handle to wrap cords, then you have a welder, I actually did that, it still works today and it does DC welding too. Gr8 project and video. P.S. with DC you could get a plasma torch, compressor, heating element, and make Plasma cutter.
31 Volts * 326Amps =10106 Watts
10106W / 230V = 43.9 Amps
In Germany all my fuses in the house would explode at once, cause every socket is fused with a 16 Amp fuse an 43 Amps is 3times as much (almost). So hopefully your Safty-Flip-Flops will protect you 👍🏼
Yeah..here we have 10 A on the normal breakers 220 VAC and 16 A for appliances like a stovetop or washing machine. Breaker circuit would pop at once.
I was asking my self the same question 326amps seems a lot of amperage in here in the us dryer or rand 230 or 220v more like 30amp
NO NO ,, The meter probably registered a peak instant of 326 amps ,, he is not using more than 80 or 90 amps on that arc ,, on 220 v a 15 to 20 amp circuit will be ok for light welding ,,, but how is he going to control the amperage he did not explain ,,he is on a fixed value with that set up …..
Great video and job, compliment bro. Super like by Warmachine bodybuilding of garage Gym italy
Nice work , with this project can you use it as mini electric arc furnance ?
Very nice job, thank for sharing
so much experts in the comment section that never welded before
Thank you! They chat too much

I think if you add two microwave fans and a switch to select middle(2 transformers) and full power(4 transformers) it could be awesome!! I love your videos man! Greetings from Honduras :)
I was just thinking about that.

For sure
I like your videos very much
You can use an engine Oil and a good metal container to cool those transformer

31V is very low voltage. Ideal is 50 - 60V.
Nice video 👍
Excellent!
Best video uploading,,,
Thanks for the share
Bravo Monsieur good Job 👍👍👍👍💪💪💪🔨🔨🔨🔨
Wouldn’t you want to convert the ac to dc with a full bridge rectifier and some compositors ? So it gives more steady current ?
Mathew Gonzalez yea it’s always ac to dc with a few exceptions with tig
Nevermind it’s not always it’s more like most of the time so it would be safe to say it would work better but at the same time he could pry use more practice welding because I’m sure it would weld fine

very good video and good for average use
You should soo doo a follow up video on HOW TO MAKE WELDING GLOVES @HOME!
The only thing I did not like is not using color coded cables, very clean job!!
remember to protect the body, because you will be sick, cancer, health and safety
pawelaco so you like showing you can buy new tools and...?
more like don't weld wearing clothing that will melt to your skin. Natural fibers are preferred because they aren't likely to ignite as quickly as synthetic fibers will melt.
Arc welding produces a lot of ultraviolet radiation, so you should always cover your skin. Wear gloves.
one day I will learn how they work in the field, not enough time, unpacking and testing.
@@pawelaco ..
u need to stop sharing panic because this doesnt make radiation and others ...radioactive is magnetron from microwave if u pull true more than 16amp #dontbeasshole
Love your videos from india
3:25 safety first!
Bloody good show. Did exactly what he said he would do.
When the screen went blank I thought he was using all the electricity in the house lol
You are very good man
With 30 volts, what kind of electrode do you use?
Thanks for the tips I will be making one very soon many thanks
Sir please make big speakers like DJ please I have send you many times. I like your channel so much and I like your all videos thank you so much please make
I am 17 year old
I have subscribed your channel and watched all videos A to Z
many times building a nice speaker is gonna cost out the ass, especially if you want a nice one.. your gonna want to use neodenyum magnets which would be the most expensive part, putting them together in the right format would be difficult to say the least... it would be possible but alot of hassle, I would do it if I had an assload of money to burn though.. I have some very interesting never before seen designs in my head, but to me just for music it's not worth the effort..
nice project but transformer welding maschine in Poland You can buy cheaper than 4 microwave transformers. Be carefull on your foots when you weld in flip flops. I like that project to show how transformer work.
How long before it melts its own insulation?
Tinkering Nerd hopefully before the wires in the wall catch fire 😂😂😂 I'm guessing that thin ass secondary goes first though. It's the only reason he isn't popping the breaker
Tinkering Nerd maybe 30 seconds continously. +-
@Eligio Budde I have made welder using 4 microwave transformers . Now after some time it starts getting really hot. So I ordered a thermocouple relay that sounds a buzzer when it Crosse 65 degree celcius. Is it okay for the transformer to go beyond 65 degree celcius??
i have melted thicker cables and welding with only 2,5mm rod...try making a 30 second continuous bead and see how the wire gets toasty....
very helpful, thank for posting. 👍

The screen went black for a second while an add loaded and I thought the breaker popped
I thought it was using all the electricity in the house lol
Was waiting for that the whole time......
very good brother
Electrode 2.5 mm or 3.2 mm?
I just love how he touched it first, then tested the voltage :)
thats actually incredibly stupid
@@Flowxing Only if you don't have a sound knowledge of electricity
How can he set the amperages for according flux??
Awesome as always please make a video on spot welder
Mmmmh 10kw of energy hey!? Should check the line voltage when shorted
How's it sound shorted...,.
Voltage of transformer probably drops when shorted
@@tejasbhandare251 in a perfect world the voltage of the transformer will be zero. The mains coming in will have a large load and it would drop because of line resistance
awesome Cheap, free and very useful you are a Genius :D
I always weld in my flip-flops
Where is the fan ? 🙂 good job 👍
Did it must be 4 of the same microwave transformers from the same model or with the same parameters???
Toni L it does not matter too much.
If you use them in series then yes because of the frequency it just won't work
Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! And yes!!!! Or dont use same ones and you might burn your flip flops. Jokes aside using the same transformers is mandatory!
Good job and it works.
I wish you had a parallel connection (not series) for x4 Amps .. You had x4 Volt..
Because Welding want to Amps, not Voltage.. Thank you..
I=U/R
Yes u r right necois idois
You need volts and amps for arc welding. Usually between 30-60 Volts. This makes it easier to sustain the arc. He already has over 300 amps, which is more than enough for most welding jobs. If anything, a bit more voltage and slightly less current would improve the performance of this setup.
Matt Deluca, Thank you very much for your information. Yes you are so right. Best regards.
Necois Idois his biggest issue was the wire diameter on secondary. He would have been better off at 24v with thicker wire. Thinner Wire heats quicker.. Heat raises resistance and limits current. He also needs to rectify it, add a cap and a big ass inductor. This is a good start but not really how a decent welder is made
Excelente vídeo mucha imaginación

nice work.
it would be more useful if a case was made for the transformers and a cooling fan was added
That was legitness
The jiro Network Yeah for only utilisation for yourself but notre for industries official
Meus parabens ficou muito bom.
O unico que eu vii desse jeito.
Ficou show......
A year ago i connected two of them in series there was like 800amps on the output when shorted ,but the voltage was small ,then i measured and noticed i was pulling 25 amps form the mains voltage nearly popping the breaker,so i dont understand how is this even possible without some king of balast..
Wow...
when welding you are not short circuiting..
@@MrHBSoftware actually you kinda are
Andrew Morgan arcing is not short circuiting...the current is way lower when arcing...if the elctrode sticks then you are short circuiting and you cannot weld until you unstick the elctrode....short circuit gives you maximum current and often if you have and old style transformer welder with no protection you will completely destroy-melt the electrode if you dont unstick it quickly or turn off the welder...
@@MrHBSoftware I stand corrected. That makes sense!
Good explanation thanks

That's pretty good but if you stack the transformers you will get more amps...I've welded since 1974...I have an old fashioned "greyhound " that has white copper windings...I just got enough batteries to run it off of my 2000 watt inverter/charger..( it took 8 RV batteries) ..it goes from 15 to 45 amps but its usually on max...I was just thinking it would be easier to run a bead if your iron is all in one chunk...also a big AC capacitor can help start a bigger rod..I use a 3/32 or 1/16
brother you need to put cooling cheers
Thanks Great video channel
