Today we are unboxing and testing the new HBX 901A brushless 1/12 basher / buggy. This has very kindly been supplied to the channel by Banggood. I like the lights, metal gears, brushless, oil shocks and 3 wire servo.

Thank you very much, I try and keep them short (sometimes it doesn't work out like that). Yeah I was really impressed by it, it's a good little RC. HBX seem to make reasonable products. I might have pick one up for bashing on a budget and it will be a good upgrade from my SG 1601 Pro. Hope I can’t get a bigger MAH battery too fit for longer play time as that’s were the SG 1601 Pro Shines lasts forever 😝

I don't think the tires have enough grip. But changing them out for a better will tires will course the motor and esc to overheat. Also the battery is than way to small.
I think if the diameter is the same it shouldn't really cause to many issues. I've recently put some different wheels but are yet to try them. Yes the single battery isn't enough but you can double up on them. 👍👍
Absolutely love ours. The stock wheels are a bit rubbish but fit XLFs or slightly bigger, wider ones from Amazon, upweight the shock oil to 40Wt and you're good to go. As usual, checking the diffs and replacing the "gloop and oil" with better stuff is reccomended but not essential. Oh and it runs a 3S without breaking....but it does become uncontrollable. And yes, the battery tray is too small ! I also cant believe how well it jumps. With better wheels its a skatepark backflip monster. The motor mount has holes for a 14T pinion but I cant find one that fits. Can you ?

Great video was looking forward to it, do you have a link for the additional batteries may take the gamble and order them at the same time. Also i may purchase the q902 or 16889a pro will that battery work in the 901a?
I'm pretty sure they all use the same 1600mAh li-po (16889 may be a 1000?). So they should all be fairly interchangeable. 👍👍👍

I think I would go for the bigger 901A. Because of its larger size it's a little more capable off road, but it's still small enough to chuck in a rucksack. The price is very similar for both the top spec 16889 and the 901A (at least it is here in the UK). For the price I think it's a decent quality piece of kit. 👍👍

I’m looking at this car and the hbx 16889a pro as my first RC car, but I dont know which to pick. Can you help me pick which is best or maybe making a video about it?
My advice would be go for the bigger 901A. You wont be disappointed with either to be honest. But for me the 901A has just got the edge. Thanks for taking the time to comment!!
HBX is releasing some very cool stuff lately.
Tell me about it. And they are producing chassis for other brands like Flyhal. Check out my 610 video, it's based on HBX 2995 and it's a belter! 👍😄

Hi, on your recommendation I purchased one of these a couple of months ago. I've been really impressed however I seem to have developed leaky rear shocks! Any advice with what I need to do to fix these? What type of replacement oil I may need? Thanks.
Hello. That's the only trouble with oil shocks is that they all start to leak sooner or latter. You could try rebuilding them and replacing the seals? As for which oil, whatever your personal preference is. I use 500cst but some people say that's too thick. It's what ever you prefer! 👍👍

1-) I can't decide btw this HBX 901A and HBX 16886 SPECTRE. Okey, I know the former's motor is brushless, the latter's is brushed. But still a hard decision to make.
2-) Do you also have a discount coupon for HBX 16886? Would you recommend it too?

Hello! First off, thank you very much that's very kind of you to say. If I'm not mistaken the 16886 is 1/14 scale? I must admit I've not had the pleasure of testing it. But let's say they were both equally good, I would probably recommend you get the larger 901A. Simply because the larger the buggy the better they ride over rough terrain (in most cases). I've not really got a bad word to say about the 901A appart from the slightly limited battery space. It took a lickin' and kept on ticking as it were. Unfortunately they only give me a discount code for the trucks I test, so I don't have one for the 16886. I can provide an affiliate link for it but that's about your lot. I know for a fact the 901A is quicker and in my personal opinion you will not be disappointed. Especially as there's not much difference in price between the two battery 16886 and the 901A!?! Be quick though because the codes they send me expire relatively quickly!! 😥 Thanks for taking the time to comment!! 👍😊👍😊

How fast is it?
Can the battery slot easily be modified to fit a more normal size battery?
I'm not sure of the exact top speed but the quick for an RTR. The easiest way would get the batteries and stack them on top of one another using another strap and a duel battery connector. That's what I'm going to do. 👍👍👍 Thanks for stopping by! 🎄🙋

Seem this about 6 months ago was interested .. I probably will get this buggy although I've heard it has weak diff. If u install bigger tires
So far, fingers crossed I've not had any issues. And Im running a hotter setup than standard so we shall see. 👍

Does it handle better than the MJX 14210 Hyper go ?
I would say not on the stock tyres. I put some wider shorter ones on, and it's a lot better. 👍

Wish HBX would use M3 and M4 hex screws instead of Philips
There's obviously a price difference but it can't be much. If Bonzai RC can use them and there about the same money as HBX's. Then there should be no excuse. 👍
