Omg..we just found your channel after a few months of looking at Disney youtube vids..you are the first person who has successfully explained Genie to us !!! We are watching all your vids now!!
My wife says "I have been so stressed about Genie Plus, LP and doing everything on the app because I am not a tech person, but after this video, I feel much more confident in understanding this concept and how it works" you are awesome!
Awesome video Nina! Going in October and staying on property and have Genie plus booked for the trip. I was a Disney junkie with the fast pass system and was disappointed that I couldn't make my passes far in advance with Genie plus. I am having a lot of anxiety about the new system but your video helped and you answered a question I had which I could not find on any other video or post. I had been wondering if I could book both of my individual lightning lanes at 7 am and watching your video until the told me the answer was yes! I feel a little better about this now and am planning on having my tech savvy teen book the Genie plus ride while I do the lightning lane rides. Thanks for the tips and tricks!
Holy cow so helpful! We are going in two weeks and I have been so stressed about how we are going to do everything we want to do, but you made me feel so much better! Thank you thank you thank you!!
This video is amazing! We are going on a Disney cruise before hitting the parks (limited time) and now I'm not so stressed that we will only get on a couple of rides!!!! 🎉
I was clueless until I watched your video. Now I’m ready! Going to be there for 2 weeks starting this Tuesday. Thank you so much for explaining all this to us. Very much appreciated! Aloha 🤙🏽
What should do if I plan to take an afternoon break and come back to the park a couples hours later? Am I able to book something around the time I come back? Example: we leave MK around 2 pm and come back at 6pm.
@@MermaidNinaTravels Thank you for replying! I have another question. How long after taping into the ride/attraction do I have to make another selection before the 120 minute rule kicks in? Example: I tap into Pooh ride Lighting Lane at 10 am and want to take a 20 minute snack break, but I don't want to wait till 12pm to make a G+ selection. Should I just book something after the Pooh ride that's available around the time I think I'm going be done snacking?
Thanks for the great video! I've only watched a few of your videos but they have been the most help! You explain everything so well! (I already purchased Genie+, before they changed it to only be available to purchase it the day of.)
Thank you so much for this video! It has helped me make the choice and showed just how valuable the Genie+ and Individual Lightening Lanes will be for our family!
Brilliant video. Thank goodness for your straws! And you! Thank you mermaid Nina. X we’re planning a future trip from Melbourne, Australia so your videos are so helpful. Thank you very much.
It is a great explanation, however the Genie+ doesnt work as perfectly as you say because rides, specially the popular ones, become unavailable as time passes. You cannot choose the ride you want you are stuck with whatever they are offering and for whatever late the pass is available. This was my experience in Nov in Hollywood Studios. I will propably give it another try in a different park but as of right know you might as well plan you visit with the dashboard on the Free Genie and get as many rides even waiting a bit longer in lines as with Genie+. Lighting lane for Rise of the resistance now that is completely worth $15 extra.
I hear you and Hollywood Studios is the hardest park for this. Genie+ is not perfect and rides 100% book up FAST, which is why you need a game plan and get the popular rides first, if those are the ones you want. I have another video where I give the tips & tricks of the system. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you so much for this video! So easy to understand! It will be our 1st time at Disney and it's a little overwhelming but this made it asier to understand
Thank you, Nina for the detailed coverage of the Genie plus as you break it down to make sense of the new system. Also, I love your hair style and color!
Yes, research on the app. And I made MORE Genie+ videos after this one, as a way to explain further...so check those out as well. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you so much for this video! I've seen a few others explaining the difference between Genie+, Genie, and Individual Lightning Lane. However, none come close to explaining it as well or thorough as you. Thanks again!!!
My boyfriend and I are huge Star Wars fans and he has not been to Galaxy's Edge yet so we are planning a one day trip to Hollywood Studios. For us it will only be $30 which is a good investment for saving time but I can see where larger groups with a larger vacation would get irritated with paying $15 per guest, per park day. Thank you for all of the help with your videos!
True...the more people, the harder it is to swallow but its also more people to get irritated in a long line. Ugh, decisions. Enjoy your trip! Thanks for watching/commenting!
Hi, quick question. I see that Disney still has Fast Pass and Fast Pass Plus in the ticket options. Is this still the case? We're planning to go to Disney in Dec
So, 1. if I reserve a ride that's in G+ then I can't select this ride again later in the day even if it is available? 2. if I pay for an individual ride, let's say RotR then can I pay for another ILL to ride it again later in the day?
great video! question though.. my mom is purchasing tickets for our whole family w genie+ for all of us. are all of us able to use genie+ on each of our phones individually? if that makes any sense
The question i aboslutely cannot find an answer to, as a dad, will the LL selection / reservation which i reserve on my app be good for my whole family (me and my kids)? How can my wife lets say take my little one to one ride, and I take the bigger kid to another, with utilizing the LL / Genie +.
Hi, am I allowed to add a pass as part of Disney Genie+ only after I have taken the previous ride and consumed the earlier pass? Is it not allowed to block rides (using passes) one after the other.
What a great explanation. Thank you so much. Very disappointed in Disney for doing this. Seems there is less of a way to plan your day. Not to mention the fast passes enabled you to at least ride a few rides and not waste your day in line. I am a family of 8. That's $90 more per day to use plus and you are not even guaranteed to ride anything, if everyone else has taken all the plus slots. I appreciate your detailed breakdown of this new system. I do have a clarification question, for lightening pass, you must be in the park to purchase and select?
Yes, this can add up fast. Believe me...we were just there for 10 days - eek. And Lightning Lanes start at 7am for Disney Resort guests and Park Opening for off property...which makes staying on property a HUGE perk. Thanks for watching/commenting!
HI, i have booked 4 day park ticket, however we are only planning to but Genie + for MK and HS, is it possible to do this ways (if yes, please can you guid eme how). when i was trying to buy is through my Disney Ap, it takes it as all the parks.
If wanting to NOT purchase for ALL days, you have to wait until EACH park day and purchase. So you can NOT do that in advance, which is why I suggest ALL days. Good Luck - Thanks for watching/commenting!
So when rope dropping MK, do you recommend using your first 7am Genie plus selection on your favorite ride/most popular, or Rope drop your favorite ride and Genie plus a different ride?
It can go either way. I will be making a TIP Video that includes this situation. In the end, it depends on your goals, ride, dates, etc. I would advise to look at wait times prior to your trip to answer that for your situation. Thanks for watching/commenting!
@@jennieplumlee YES, I have 2 Tips Videos posted. One General and one answering all my most asked questions. Here is one - th-cam.com/video/BnbIb13gtsQ/w-d-xo.html
Very informative!!! Thanks!! Question: I will be staying on property in my upcoming trip. Will I be able to use Genie+ and Lightning Lane at 7am on the first day of my stay (before checking into the resort?)
Quick question. If my soon to be wife and I are trying to use genie+, does she also need to purchase a genie+ pass to book a ride at the same time for us to ride together?
Is it worth it,as £100 per person here in uk if you stay in disney Park hotels they get priority to book lightning lanes and sell out by 0700 so even if you have genie plus you can get to use it if it's already sold out
Thank you for the info, very helpful for the most part. Everything was based on the individuals STAYING at a Disney Resort. I can't afford to stay at a Disney Resort but I wanted my kids to have the BEST Disney experience so I purchased the tickets with Genie+ included. I have a few questions I. I've heard you say that it can only be purchased the day I enter the park if I'm not staying at a Disney Resort or is that JUST to purchase LL? 2. For those who are not staying at a resort, when can we lock in our ride times 3. We don't have a band or magic card, how do we scan into the rides 4. Do we have to ACTUALLY CALL IN to lock in our rides at 7a or just tap it through the Genie app
I've purchased my tickets a few months ago, can I add genie plus now? my reservations are coming up in a couple more months. Do I only have the option to add it on daily on the park days, because I didn't add it from the beginning of the reservations?
Hi Nina ! Watching from Canada ! Can you tell me if there's a limit of rides we can do per day with genie+ considering we can't do a same ride twice ? Thanks for your videos
We are traveling with 2 other families. A total of 12 people. If we are all liked can once person grab the lighting lane or schedule the genie plus slots all at the same time or does each family have to do it individually? If we have to do it individually I assume some of us may get it and other may not.
Good Question. I think it does work for up to 12 people. But in case...I would be prepared to do it under 2 different accounts. But I think most, if not all rides are 12 people. Thanks for watching/commenting!
so you are telling me, that even though i paid for Ginie+ , i might not be able to select lighting Lane or a pass for Rise of the resistance because i'm not staying in one of their hotels?
Correct. Rise is NOT a Genie+ Ride, its an Individual Lightning Lane. For Off-P, you can NOT try for that ride until official park opening. Sorry, but its worth a try. Thanks for watching/commenting!
We’re a rope drop family, if that’s the case and I LL ROR and GP+ SDD at 7am….what do we do at 8:30am? Minne & Mickey? Or head right to SDD and ride stand by? Or head right to SDD and ride standby, cancel GP and get another one? 🙏 thank you!
Nina, thankyou SOOO MUCH! You explain so great! Im shocked!!! I have one question. We are going in a group os friends.. about 10 adults. Everyone has to open their phones and book each ride? Like, all 10 at the same time try to book the ride? Or can one ou two people do it for the rest?
Outstanding video, thank you so much. Just double checking, if you are not staying in a resort can we get genie plus at 7am, or do we get that at rope drop with the lighting lan?
AWESOME video!!!! Thank You!!!! Do you recommend getting that first Genie+ pass first or the individual Lightning Lane (we really want Rise)??? We are staying on Property and will be there in 18 days!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!
YAY! I talk about that in this video - th-cam.com/video/eY2cRmHj0tM/w-d-xo.html but if Rise is the main goal, then get that first. Enjoy! Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you for the video! The 2 hour stacking is from the general opening time, or the early opening time? For example, early admission right now is 1 hour before.
When booking at 650am do you have to be at the park or a resort hotel? We are staying in Disney Springs. Wanting to know if I should drive to the park & wait?
Do you have to book at exactly 7am or is it any time after? From what I’ve read it sometimes suggests to be able to use lightning lane for the day your first ride must be booked at 7am. Ignoring how quickly rides book up could I book the first ride at 8am for example or is that too late for the system to accept it?
You can book anytime throughout the day, assuming there are available rides. So yes, 8am is ok for your first ride if you don't mind missing out on some key rides. Thanks for watching/commenting!
How does the individual lightning lane work with rise of the resistance? I’ve only done that ride in California with the reservation system. We are doing Florida in February and that ride is the most important that we do!
Not entirely sure what you mean...you purchase a pass, then ride when its time. This might help - th-cam.com/video/BnbIb13gtsQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
Are you able to book another genie plus ride when you are waiting in line for another ride or do you have to finish riding a ride first? This part confuses me but if I am understanding right you book a ride at 7:00am then 2 hours later (9am) book another then at 11:0am book another right? I hate that you have to book a ride and then you have to be sure to be at that ride later on.
I have MORE Genie Plus videos that might help you with this...but there are a few options with this. In general, you get a pass, scan in for that pass (get another pass while in line), ride, then wait for next pass. Check out my other videos for more info. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thanks so much for this video! It was super helpful. Im going in January and staying at Wilderness. I was just wondering, if using LL that one line is for both the ILL and Genie+ LL right? Also I remembed way back the fast pass lines were usually long too.... in general how long is the wait once in the LL lines using a return pass? Is it pretty much walk on the ride guaranteed or is it still another wait? Just shorter. Thanks!
Yes, same line. Its actually the exact same line as the old fastpass line. Line goes quick, Disney is putting LL people in the ride FASTER than stand-by. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Glad it was helpful! The system isn't perfect, but it does work. This might help too - th-cam.com/video/BnbIb13gtsQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you. I’m setting up our plans now. This was very helpful. Confusing, but helpful. Lol. I’m not a fan of this Genie situation but I guess we will get used to it. Ugh.
This was super helpful, thank you so much! I am actually going to Disneyland and CA adventure. I am wondering if you start at CA Adventures (because you can not start hopping until 1 pm), once that 2 hour window passes, can you start stacking for Disneyland or for Lightning Lane even if you are in CA Adventures? Thanks! I hope this makes sense.
Awesome video and info. But could you break down everything you said in two columns. Those columns being on property versus off property. You peppered it in about both at the same time but it'd be great if you focused on each because I really don't see the benefit to staying property. We went in 2017 and the main reason we stayed on property is because we could reserve 3 rides in advance at one park a day and got complimentary custom magic bands.. Please break down the advantage of staying on property vs not as it pertains to Genie+ and the times. Thanks in advance.
Is it true that if you have someone with a medical condition like diabetes or hi blood pressure you can talk to the CM at the front of the line and they will tell you a time to come back?
NO! If you have a medical condition that needs accommodations, you discuss that with Guest Services, a ride CM can't usually help. Thanks for watching/commenting!
To be honest, it all depends on the park, the day and the rides. This is why I suggest you look at the rides the week before and find a trend...as it keeps changing. This might help - th-cam.com/video/BnbIb13gtsQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
Hi Nina! This video helped so much. I do have a question, would you recommend trying to book a Genie plus ride, such as slinky dog, first or the individual lightning lane first?
@@MermaidNinaTravels okay so even though I’m not staying at a Disney hotel, I can start booking my first ride at 7 AM with genie plus? I watched the other video and understand how the other individual lighting lane works but was wanting to clarify on genie plus for non Disney hotel guests

It can go either way. I will be making a TIP Video that includes this situation. In the end, it depends on your goals, ride, dates, etc. I would advise to look at wait times prior to your trip to answer that for your situation. Thanks for watching/commenting!
@@MermaidNinaTravels do you have the tip video posted yet?
@@jennieplumlee YES, I have 2 Tips Videos posted. One General and one answering all my most asked questions. Here is one - th-cam.com/video/BnbIb13gtsQ/w-d-xo.html
When doing genie plus does it let you book for all in the group? Or does each person have to book individually?
Sounds like you might need this video - th-cam.com/video/eY2cRmHj0tM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
Very informative!!! Thanks!! Question: I will be staying on property in my upcoming trip. Will I be able to use Genie+ and Lightning Lane at 7am on the first day of my stay (before checking into the resort?)
I would assume, assuming you have a park day for that day. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Quick question. If my soon to be wife and I are trying to use genie+, does she also need to purchase a genie+ pass to book a ride at the same time for us to ride together?
All who want to be in the Genie+ line need to purchase the pass. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Is it worth it,as £100 per person here in uk if you stay in disney Park hotels they get priority to book lightning lanes and sell out by 0700 so even if you have genie plus you can get to use it if it's already sold out
I always suggest staying on property, 100%
Thank you for the info, very helpful for the most part. Everything was based on the individuals STAYING at a Disney Resort. I can't afford to stay at a Disney Resort but I wanted my kids to have the BEST Disney experience so I purchased the tickets with Genie+ included. I have a few questions
I. I've heard you say that it can only be purchased the day I enter the park if I'm not staying at a Disney Resort or is that JUST to purchase LL?
2. For those who are not staying at a resort, when can we lock in our ride times
3. We don't have a band or magic card, how do we scan into the rides
Sounds like you need the Updated Video - th-cam.com/video/a4lpG7dI9zU/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
This is so helpful! I’ve never been to Disney before. Can you enter the park early on the day you check into the hotel ?
Awesome! Only Disney Resort Guests can enter the Park Early, 30 mins early. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Can we get a rider switch with an individual lighting lane purchase ?
Sounds like you need this video - th-cam.com/video/eY2cRmHj0tM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
Hi Nina ! Watching from Canada ! Can you tell me if there's a limit of rides we can do per day with genie+ considering we can't do a same ride twice ? Thanks for your videos
No limit! Disney has in the fine print an average of 2-3 but I have videos showing how you can get MORE. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you so much!! This is the best explained video !!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching/commenting!
What if I’m in charge of the tickets? I’m taking grandma and toddler, so will it show up that I get to get Genie Plus for everyone for the same time?
If you are all linked in the same account it should. Good Luck! Thanks for watching/commenting!
I will be doing a Hollywood Studios itinerary/game plan video soon. I have already done Magic Kingdom. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you!
Do you have to get passes for everyone in your group? Ie grandma is not riding
I actually cover that in this video - th-cam.com/video/eY2cRmHj0tM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for Watching/commenting!
Hello… Can you clarify something for me… If you are not staying at Disney you can not set up Genie plus and LL until 9 am when the park opens??
I do explain that in the video. You can only do Genie+ at 7am, the other will be at park opening. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Glad it helped! This video might also help your question - th-cam.com/video/eY2cRmHj0tM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
Outstanding video, thank you so much. Just double checking, if you are not staying in a resort can we get genie plus at 7am, or do we get that at rope drop with the lighting lan?
Yes you can! Genie+ is at 7am for ALL. Thanks for watching/commenting!
We already bought our tickets, can we add Genie + afterward, like now?
Nope - that update is in this video - th-cam.com/video/k6LijHOopBA/w-d-xo.html Genie+ is constantly changing. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you for the video! The 2 hour stacking is from the general opening time, or the early opening time? For example, early admission right now is 1 hour before.
Posted opening time for ALL guests. So NOT for early entry. Thanks for watching/commenting!
When booking at 650am do you have to be at the park or a resort hotel? We are staying in Disney Springs. Wanting to know if I should drive to the park & wait?
I thought I mentioned it in the video - you can be in your PJ's at your resort. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you for this video and yes it so confusing without this video
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching/commenting!
I would have never figured all of this out. You're awesome.
YAY, glad it helped! Thanks for watching/commenting!
So well explained. Thank you so much. I am so stressed out with all the feedback regarding Genie+
Glad it was helpful! The system isn't perfect, but it does work. This might help too - th-cam.com/video/BnbIb13gtsQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
How far out into the day can I grab a lightning lane reservation? Say I wanted to go on Rise of the Resistance at 4pm.
They are gone in seconds...so who knows what time anyone would get. Thanks for watching/commenting!
Thank you. I’m setting up our plans now. This was very helpful. Confusing, but helpful. Lol. I’m not a fan of this Genie situation but I guess we will get used to it. Ugh.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching/commenting!
Great video excellent thorough explanation
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching/commenting!
Yep - I think I discuss hoping more in this video - which might help - th-cam.com/video/eY2cRmHj0tM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
@@MermaidNinaTravels You are amazing, thank you for sharing!
Never been and will have to familiarize myself with where the rides are so we aren’t walking back and forth to get on rides. Thanks for the tips.
100% No Human Ping Pong Balls as I call it. I have lots of videos on the rides, Enjoy! Thanks for watching/commenting!

Thanks for watching/commenting!
ok my question is at 7AM should i do my 2 individual passes first or should i do genie plus one first then the 2 i can purchase ? Thank you
To be honest, it all depends on the park, the day and the rides.
Thanks. I actually talk about that in this video - th-cam.com/video/eY2cRmHj0tM/w-d-xo.html Good Luck and thanks for watching/commenting!
Hi, so I will not be staying at a Disney hotel so how early in the morning can I start reserving rides with my genie plus pass?
7am for Genie+ and Park Opening for the others - This might help - th-cam.com/video/BnbIb13gtsQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching/commenting!
@@MermaidNinaTravels okay so even though I’m not staying at a Disney hotel, I can start booking my first ride at 7 AM with genie plus? I watched the other video and understand how the other individual lighting lane works but was wanting to clarify on genie plus for non Disney hotel guests
@@Manosh0 Everyone can do Genie+ at 7am
