I started tearing up a few seconds in... BRAVO!!!!!!! Good to know I’m not the only one who thinks this is a masterpiece. This is what I envision Holdsworth ascending into the cosmos with
Having scoured the internet this is the first time I have ever seen anyone play an AH solo - really play it - in the spirit that Allan played. We knew Andrey is a full pro player this though is getting up to master level Edit: master level:- now improvise this out of nowhere.
This music creates in my minds' eye; a man who goes to work for 30 years in a cubicle job.. streets the subways crowded , day in day out- and has a mind breakdown- break through and transforms into a free spirit in the oceans and sun trees and stars. Great playing that is excellent!!
I think that the most impressive thing about that is that on top of nailing all the fairly technical licks, you got all the intonations and nuances right. Fair play mate!
@@mountainman8775 Agreed They are Super Technical and require hours of intense practice! People thinking they can nail these with just fifteen minutes a day are wrong.
All credit for completely creating the backing track and not just playing over the original. His maesterwerk. Nobody can play it like he could. His sound on the Steinberger was incredible. Nonetheless a very fine version indeed.
When listening to Holdsworth you wonder what the out takes must have been like. It's also a shame there is no footage of him in the studio recording tracks such as this. I met Holdsworth on 4 occasions an amazing musician and great human being! A sad loss!
every time I come back to this, I listen five or six times in a row! such a mastery! what a talent ! the sound is perfectly smokey, the phrasing absolutely clear and expressive, mesmerizing. the first time I send money to an unknown dude for such a mind blowing performance.
Andrey, your recreation of Allan´s solo stays in my heart till my final day. On the other note, your fellow Russian countryman Evgeny Pobozhui is a definite jazz monster. You, him and Feodor Dosumov make a killing triumvirat. Thanks, guys
This is insane. I never would have thought anyone could ever cover this song. Even if they did, I thought they would leave out or mess up a lot of the subtle things that Allan did. You got every little bit. It's crazy. Have you ever thought about covering any Shawn Lane? Perhaps the solo from "Not Again" (or the entire song!)
Wow! My number 1 Allan Holdsworth solo! to even attempt this is massive...and you did it so well! A few hickups...but hell...no one is/was like Allan Holdsworth! RIP
Dude... Just as everyone said, amazing performance of an incredible solo. Seriously thought this was uncoverable, considering how thorough you were. Bravo Andrey!
Dude - simply fantastic... I salute you. That is my all time favourite guitar solo by anyone, and you just nailed it. I think Allan would have been very proud and congratulatory.
Of course a huge value of this video is the exposure of how this is played, to see and appreciate in a way that I wouldn't otherwise have never known. Seeing truly brings something new in returning to the listening experience. Makes me realize Holdsworth's level of art, to actually see what was happening and to think he was painting this way, that his vocabulary was so intuitive that he was one with the instrument and it was a vessel of expression. Of course, Andrey, that you have taken such interest and achieved such mastery. Andrey, I'd love to see your cover of Spokes, even if it's not on a synthaxe. And, to hear your own original expressions, what you must be seeking as an artist, yourself.
Phenomenal performance. If I had not seen this video, I would not believe anyone could catch all the nuances of Allen Holdsworth's playing. Greetings from Antwerp, Belgium
Great job!!! Especialy by using your own sound and technique ( more picking) it gives it another flavor. And, using a backingtrack and not playing over the original ( like most who try to play Allan' solo's do to hide the sloppy playing) it is even greater!
Excellent cover of a most difficult solo. Very well played Andrey. Kudos to you. Seeing and hearing this just puts me further in awe of what Holdsworth was able to do and that his brain came up with this to begin with. Thank you for posting this.
Well done - excellent performance of one of Allan Holdsworth's most beautiful compositions. AH was a genius at composing as well as guitar technique imho.
Superb. For most musician ls improvisation involves just rearranging cliches. Allan didn't do that. And I think he was one of the best improvisers in all known musical history
Quite possibly the best version of an Allan Holdsworth track I’ve heard(and there have been many). I would imagine Allan’s fingering would be unique to him, but your video gives us an idea of how he might have played it. Also incredible to know that Allan improvised all of his solos. Well done and thank you!
So great! Holdsworth is SO hard to transcribe and play. You did a fantastic job! And your whammy skills are incredible. That lick from 3:14--3:20 min. LOVE this!!
Absolutely fantastic! You clearly put alot of effort and love into learning one of the most amazing guitar solos in the history of the universe. Most impressive.
i can't tell you how much i respect you for this, as a musician and a human being. Thank you so much! You playing this means everybody can not only hear but even see whats going on in one of Allan's solos. and your playing is incredible! own material?
Andrey...very impressive! I love this AH solo and it's nice to see how it's played---I just told someone today that no one on this planet plays like Allan...but...
This cover is essentially perfect, you can't really get any closer to Holdsworth's style. Simply amazing job man, keep it up! The run you did at 2:08 is especially insane...
ARISTON!!!!! Played really excellent. ARISTON!!!!! For those who disliked the song, I think that this is only sound engineering issue and some tapping feeling. But really neglectable. Great job!!!!! This song is very very demanding. This guy has got the full point of Holdsworth's technique on this specific song. Is it possible to have the pedal and the amp adjustments? And the specs of the guitar (company, woods used etc) too?
Sheer masterfulness...you´ve done a lifetime´s (sic) worth of hard work with this single solo transcription and you nail it picture-perfect. You´re an artist, can´t wait to hear your original works.
Nice. Very accurate. Very well done. Must be one of the hardest solos ever from the best guitarist ever. That's some achievement. The great thing is we get or see how on earth genius Allan did it. Are you using the Bill Ruppert Holdsworth Kemper profile?
The chords on this tune are random - they dont follow a pattern, never repeat in order. The last 3 notes of the Bb scale, ending on a low Bb, is a lovely simple touch, after what has preceeded, However, well played -this will have took time to work out.. Prob the finest electric guitar solo, ever recorded - Mr Holdsworth. Well done Andrey !
Hey! That was awesome! Could you please upload the backing track? My little brother (16) wants to practice this solo but neither him or I know how to make a backing track. Would be so grateful!
Andrey nails down everything Allan Holdsworth originally did. While it doesn´t place him among the most great and important guitarists alive, he comes so damn close I can´t wait to hear his original material. C´mon Andrey and Feodor Dosumov you are trailblazers on your own right.
