Everything except dipping the brush back into the whole tin of paint stripper 😅. It’s the painting equivalent of ass to mouth and that tin is now scrap 😂. Should get a clean pot and pour it into that , never dip the brush back into the stripper as it’ll never stop chemically reacting to paint that’s been cross contaminated into it.

Last time I did some I spent 4 days doing some BMW E36 M3 saloon Contour alloy wheels. They were so bad they were probably scrap, but BMW wanted £1500 for a new set, so I had a go. No fingerprints and many cuts & broken nails later they were presentable. - Wrapped the car round a lamp post two weeks later and broke two of the wheels. That's life.

Never stop these resto vids - they are awesome to watch. The lack of annoying music and voiceover makes a nice change from some other channels. Nice to prove the doubters wrong too. I think you are a lot more skilled in your engineering practices than you make out. Looking forward to the next instalment.
It never ceases to amaze me that a lot of enthusiasts don’t actually do any work on their cars and would recommend sending the rocker cover to a pro for a repaint!! I’m in the same camp as you mate, pay for the materials and do it yourself. I gotta tell you too that your filming techniques, the angles and close-ups are just spot on. 👍🏼

Hi Adam,looks good -might be worth putting 2k clear lacquer over the top to seal the polished finish as over time will corrode and tarnish ,iirc 2k is heat resistant too so would be fine for engine bay temps ? 👍

This is what this engine rebuild is all about in my opinion, taking it apart and having a crack yourself because when it's all back together and running you can step back and say I did all that myself.🙌👏👍keep em going Adam.

Spot on mate, do as much as possible to this engine yourself rather than sending things to specialists, of course they could do a better job but the heart and passion you put into it means so much more, your editing has greatly improved also, keep up the hard work I love your content!

Good job Adam, however you need to protect the bare alloy from corrosion or one winter later it will be back to the same. You could over spray with 2K clear but i would use brushed Alocrom 1200 if you can get some. This will give good results and look OEM.
Satisfying to watch! Maybe would have a been a good idea to treat the the cover after using paint stripper though, IPA then De ionised water ? Hopefully it doesn't react and peel when it gets hot as it's a banging job for a rattle can!

And a 2K paint would be a good idea to resist chemicals and heat.

It needs matte lacquer clear coat (the original block has a matte finish). Without it, the exposed aluminium parts will oxidize and go white.

It looks good mate get some high temp clear, coat engine paint on it, and put a couple of coats of that on.
