My 2020 specked out the same as this gets 14.2 normal driving and pulling a 21’ bass boat 80 mph on interstate going to Canada got 12.8 the 2017 diesel it replaced got 13.5 normal and 11 on same trip to Canada plus price difference in service and fuel the gasser is worth considering. Only reason I would buy a Diesel again is if i was towing heavy load 60-70% of the time
Hello Todd, You are right it is a numbers game. We have a F450 and NL Truck camper and it is almost impossible trying to stay under that 14000 lb. GVWR. I really do not believe anyone out there that has a Dually and a large truck camper stays below that fixed GVWR. After all things are loaded and packed for an extended trip , go weigh your rig, and get ready for a shock. With added accessories on truck and camper and all camping gear thought needed , ya better get a 550 series or 5500 to carry all the stuff and stay below your fixed GVWR, Just saying. Anywho, nice new truck and hope to meet up somewhere soon!
Nia, yes. GVWR Is based upon the total weight of truck and any and all accessories in and on the truck itself plus the combined weight of truck camper and all accessories in and on it. Or any payload consisting of weight in bed = GVW. The rating is found on your inside door sticker. This rating has nothing to do with pulling a trailer with a hitch/ 5th wheel pin, other than the accrued weight of the pin weight as in a 5th wheel trailer. So pulling a trailer of any kind does not equate into the GVWR of a truck . This can as does sometimes become confusing, just remember GVWR only has to do with any and all weight in and on your truck.
I had a 21 f350 gas 7.3 with the 3.73 gears. 12 mpg empty daily driving, 10 mpg at 55 mph, with my 2004 3000 series 10-11 SL. With the camper at 65-70 mph on the highway I got 8 to 9 mpg. Not to quiet climbing big hills once she drops a couple of gears. Nice truck plenty of power! Enjoy and happy travels
This is a smart option that is often overlooked. I stumbled upon a used 2022 with less than 4,000 miles and snapped it up right away. SuperCab, 7.3, 2WD = 6,843 lbs payload. It's the perfect tug for towing my 5th wheel. It would have taken me more than seven years just to break even on the upfront cost of a diesel.
Todd, in my earlier posts I meant to comment on Taylor being calmer in the F-350. The high pitched whistle of the turbo seems to make them nervous. Have had three different dogs and different vehicles with and without turbochargers and see the same reactions.
Beautiful truck I got a 2021 F-350 4.30 gears , FX4 STX 7.3 ! Luv it the STX fits my budget. It was a special order truck also with two batteries & two alternators.
I have a 2021 Ford F-350 Lariat with the 7.3 gasser and I haul an Arctic 2022 Fox 1150. I love it. I get about 10 MPG on Avg. Less on hills and when the wind blows but I am very happy with it. Hope you are too. Enjoy.
Great video and great truck! I have a 2020 F350 with the 7.3 Godzilla SRW 4x4. I haul a 2020 Northern Lite 8-11. My payload is 4076 lbs. I’ve been getting between 11 - 12 mpg with the camper. Plenty of power to spare going over the mountains here in Western Colorado.
Nice F350! I have a Lance 1172 also and I pull a 7000 lb trailer with SxS and ATV's. I took a different approach. I have F350 dually with diesel but, its a regular cab and it has the highest payload of the F350's. It has a much tighter turn radius and handles the camper and the trailer very well. Its all how you want to get the numbers. I really don't miss the crew cab and I thought I would!
That’s really encouraging for me. I’m strongly considering a Lance 975 and your exact truck. I’m so happy to see that payload number. Congratulations on beautiful truck. Thanks!
Beautiful truck, love the color scheme. Looking forward to more updates on your rig, and any mods that you add to it as well. You kids be safe, blessings
I’m excited to see how things go… I’ve got a duramax currently and after needing to plug it in this year due to freezing up in the cold, injector issues, $1.00 a gallon more to fill, and being advised to use a premium def and fuel additive…I’m considering going gas. The new Silverado with the Allison branded tranny is the only contender next to that Godzilla, a super stout set up! Congrats!!!
I have the same year and truck package. Love it. Still needed to put air bags, and tork lift stable loads on it. I also changed up the shocks. Plus I added an in bed 7way which surprised me wasn’t part of the camper package. The truck is a beast with the 7.3L hauling my NL 10-2 but mileage averages around 9. I do miss my diesel but the gasser has more than enough for what I do. I just did a round trip from Michigan to Florida flat towing our Wrangler through ice and snow….no issues whatsoever. One other thing, you can customize some things on the Ford using Forscan which I liked a lot, like turning off the horn double beep when the truck is on and you get out of the vehicle. Nice truck brother. Glad you switched it up.
Hi E-Square, Glad to hear you got a similar setup and it's working well for you. We're hoping for the same results. Our truck didn't come with the 7 way plug in the bed either. I thought that was kind of strange but I can add it if I need to. Our Lance has a proprietary plug so I did have to wire that into the bed. Thanks for the Forscan tip I'll have to look into that. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
You made a great decision there, I did about the same....came from a true cab and chassis F-450, with a custom utility box, and diesel, to a 2021 F-350 identical to yours, gears and all. I carry a Lance 992 and love it.....has more than enough power, and cheaper to operate.
Great video. We are looking for a new truck and appreciate your comments on the Ford F350. Also, thank you for including Brian Ayers for Long-Lewis in the video. I called him and he is great! No commission on the sale, and what a great guy. We are in Arizona, and they deliver nationwide.
almost bought a 7.3 but decided to stay with my 6.0. Glad I did. The 6.0 is better for towing heavy loads. I tow 6 tons on a regular basis. The 6.0 is pretty reliable if you change the oil and coolant regulary and make sure your batteries are always good. The new diesels cost too much if you need to change an injector.
Good call on the gasser. I’ve never owned a diesel but the newer diesels are so complex they scare me lmao. Those repair costs, and diesel fuel costing $2 a gallon extra to boot
The cab sounded really quiet as you were driving it back after buying it, probably quieter than it would've been with the diesel, and a lot less maintenance in the future. Really nice truck. Congrats!
I have the f450 with the gas v10. My insurance didn't jump up like that. But I have a ranch and ag exemption. I like my truck, yes occasionally I with that it had the low-end torque of a diesel, but I have found that once I get up to speed, she moves a load just fine. However, fuel, maintenance, and service are all much cheaper, and that is worth a slow start.
Unfortunately RV’ers get caught up in building the ultimate Rig. It seems as though everyone wants to out do the others. Heck, the new thing is to pull your 5th wheel with a class 8 tractor. Some people seem to have more money than sense. It’s nice to see you have good sense. Beautiful truck.
Congrats on your new truck! It’s a beauty! I just picked up my Chevy 3500 High Country Wednesday and will pick-up my NL 9.6 tomorrow. My cargo load is very close to yours and this truck, like yours, will easily carry myself, my doggo, and the camper. My dog is sensitive to sound as well, and like Taylor, I’ll think she’ll be more relaxed and comfortable in it. Hope the truck gives you many happy years of happy camping!
Todd, I have had my 2020 F-350 7.3 Godzilla, Lariat Edition for three years. I have 49,000 on it and absolutely love it. Had two rams prior to this one. I also have a Lance 1172 (2021). Two things you will definitely want to add: 1) Roadmaster sway bar change its behavior by night and day. 2) Airlift 7500 air bags. Mileage without the camper 14-15 mpg mixed driving. Anything over 65 MPH will definitely negatively impact mileage. With the camper I get about 10-11 MPG averaging 55-65 MPH. I also have the 3.73 gears. Definitely cheaper than the diesels I have had. With diesel typically $1.00 per gallon if you get 10 MPG you would have to get 12.5 MPG on the diesel just to break even on the fuel cost. If you factor the DEF, Oil change additional cost and Initial diesel engine option spread over 180,000 miles you would have to get over 20 MPG on the diesel to break even. I think you made a good decision..... Best Wishes, Ray
Hi RD Shooter, Glad to hear someone else has a similar setup and it's been working well for you. Hopefully we'll like it a lot and won't miss our diesel too bad. I agree and had already been thinking about upgrading the rear sway bar and possibly adding air bags or Sumo springs. I have never tried the Sumo springs but I've heard good things. I like the the adjustability of the air bags though. We'll see, good suggestions! Thanks for watching and safe travels!
I have the 7.3 gas dually with 4:30 gears and get 10 mpg with truck camper and not towing. Do you think I would get better gas mileage if I switched gears to 3:73?
@@emiliojacaman690 When loaded I think wind resistance make the 3.73 and 4.30 ratios basically about the same economy. Driving empty the 3.73 will gain you about 0.5 to 0.75 mpg. The 3.73 will cost you in towing capacity and accelerating a load up to speed. As an electromechanical engineer in the automotive industry I have had to address points and counter points from energy consumption, diesel vs gas BTU's (130k for diesel and 90-95k for gas). I believe the 7.3 is proving itself to be a very viable alternative to diesel for moderate loads less than 16-18k lbs.
Congratulations! Beautiful truck. Looking forward to future videos featuring the truck and camper. Don’t wait to long before you post a video of you hauling your camper. Take care.
So, it's been about a year. Do you still have this truck? Problems? Likes? Dislikes? Would love to see an update to this video with your thoughts a year later.
I have a 21’ f350 Godzilla as well. I ordered and purposefully did not get a diesel. ~8k miles towing up and down hills & mtns here in the PNW. I have no regrets and will not go back to a diesel. Saved ~$9k up front , $1+ per gal on fuel, no def and 1/2 the maintenance. Diesels have there place but I do not need one.
Sweet looking truck. Congrats! I think going gas is smart if you need to max your payload. Will be watching to see how it turns out for you after the Ram diesel. Happy camping to you both in 2023
Couple of errors in previous message. Diesel typically 1$.00 more per gallon. Also the Road Master bars, which I know your familiar with, will dramatically improve handling with the camper on it.
Love this setup! Only thing I would change is id have gotten a 450 with the 7.3 if that’s even an option. The 450s turn so much better it’s worth it for that alone
7.3 is not available in F450 unless you go chassis cab. Power stroke is standard. Also the F450 suspension components are heavier by about 7-800 pounds. This truck in an F450 pickup config would have less than 5k payload.
Nice truck. I'm looking forward to seeing how the 7.3 gasser hauls and handles in your future videos. Thanks for touching on the insurance part. That is important to know. Enjoy.
Sooo jealous. I have a 2023 7.3L black lariat f350drw on order, but LOVE the 22's a lot more. Can't find this configuration around where i live, but I'd drive 1000 miles to trade in for this😁. Congrats
Nice truck I just sold my 6.4ldiesel f350 Dually crewcab lariat to my son we pulled a 45 foot fifth wheel with it it’s a beast but if I were to buy a truck now I’d buy Probably single rear wheel f350 7.3 gasser I’ve owned 15 Ford’a over the years loved them all
Looks great. I'm a Ram owner myself on my first Ram 2500. Always been a Ford guy before. I purchased an older Truck camper I'm renovating right now. I can't wait to see how the numbers work out on your new rig.
Excellent purchase! You will not lack for power, plus you will save big time on maintenance. I can’t wait to watch your upcoming videos with the camper on the truck. :-)
Just found your TH-cam site. And, I'm truck shopping for a brand new truck. Was really set on a diesel but I'm beginning to question that now. Really looking forward to how it does with your camper and fully loaded. I'll keep kicking tires until you post your results.
Congrats on the new truck. I'm on my way today to pick up a loaded f450 to replace my 3500 Ram. Great minds think alike. Paying MSRP was a hard pill to swallow but you only live once. I was sold on the ford after test driving one. My ram treated me well but this new truck is like moving out of a cave into a house.
Congrats on the new F450. I would have bought a F450 but we would have been way over the payload number with our heavy camper by a long ways, legally speaking. I do love the F450's though. Great trucks! Thanks for watching and safe travels!
Nice truck. I have a 2020 F350 SRW 7.3 with 3:73 gears. I’m in the RV transport industry, the truck has 190k miles and have not had any issues so far...well except for the first gen spark plug wires. I pull 5th wheels and travel trailers including destinations models weighing from 7K to 14K shipping weight. The engine brake does well, however not as strong as a diesel but haven’t had any issues going through the mountains in Wyoming on I 80. (3-6% grades) i’m sure you’ll love it
Hi Greg, Thanks for the comment! That’s awesome to hear you have so many miles on your 7.3. So many people are being negative about it. So far I have enjoyed driving it but I haven’t hauled the camper yet so I’m looking forward to that. It’s good to hear from someone that is working their truck hard and it’s holding up. Safe travels and thanks for watching!
We have a ‘23 Host Everest on a ‘19 Chevy 3500 DRW Duramax. Over the sticker payload but did fine last year camping in Washington and Montana. I was considering the Dodge 4500 but glad you mention the insurance issue. We are on the look out for basically the truck you have now. I’ll be watching out for future videos on how the combo works for you. Oh yeah, all we have on our truck is upper and lower stableloads. No severe sway I can feel. And the truck sits relatively level.
Thanks for this video; it answered two burning questions for my wife and I; gas dually cargo load capacity and insurance costs for a commercial vehicle. We have a Lance 1985 and really like the Lance 1172. I assumed we’d need a commercial truck to stay under GVWR with a fully opted version and the necessary TC tie down brackets, passengers, food, water and gear. I have yet to find a gas dually in our area; I really wanted to scope out a cargo capacity sticker before we committed to ordering one.
Super interested to hear of your performance test on this track. I’m second-guessing my own future decision to purchase diesel. Thanks for the great video.
Congratulations on the new truck! It looks awesome and that payload capacity will be nice. Carla looked comfortable behind the wheel…..you may not get your truck back! LOL.
LOL, You're right she may have a new truck as a daily driver. Thankfully it won't fit well in the parking deck at her work but I may have to have her drive more though. She does like driving it. Good to hear from you, I hope you're doing well. Thanks for watching!
I would have purchased this truck had I found it. I looked everywhere online for a lariet gas dually without luck. Ended up with a long bed 350 and 4.3 gears. My payload sticker says 3600. Some of the 5th wheels I am looking at have a pin weight of 2300 on their spec sheets so I know it's higher than that. Shoulda kept searching for a dually. Yours is a beauty and the truck looks good too. LOL!!
Congrats awesome truck, I am a Ram 5500 owner myself, and have a Eagle Cap 1165but also have a ranger boat, so 5500 is the best choice for me, insurance, your right you have to shop, I was able to get 989 a year through Progressive that’s with max liabilities and 1000 deductible Ford 350 gas is a good way to go but putting a boat on is a game changer
I was thinking the same thing and have been looking into a swaybar, airbags or Sumo springs. We'll see, but we'll probably try it first like you said. Thanks for watching!
Nice truck but I think we'll stay with our used RAM 5500 4x4 Laramie diesel DRW. We wanted the extra payload so we'd never have to worry about being over loaded. Yes, ownership of the 5500 has its issues: insurance runs us $1500/year and tires are bigger and not every tire shop can repair/install them; however, peace of mind is important. We will be boon docking the majority of the time and want to be able to have full water tanks and not worry about how heavy we are and the TC we've selected has large water storage and tanks and will be a heavy TC when fully loaded. When we registered the 5500, we had to sign an affidavit certifying it was for personal use which was no problem. Your new F350 looks nice, it'll be interesting to see how it handles over time. I've always rationalized owning the diesel with big trucks have diesel engines and they run for miles and miles, and it takes a lot of miles before they're even considered broken in, just not so much with gas engines. Good luck, hope it works out for you! Who knows, we may convert at some point, too.
Dang that is a beautiful truck!! It's the same color scheme as my 2008 f350 except better. I love the two tone paint but yours has chrome front and rear bumpers which is preferred since you won't get rock chips in them, in my opinion the best of both worlds. You also got the higher payload with the camper prep package, and the 7.3, did you get the 4:30 gears? That's the way I would go. But honestly that's a perfectly optioned truck
Nice truck,we got a 2022 F350 XL dually with the 7.3l & the 10 speed transmission.6675lb PAYLOAD..BASE PRICE $46,500..engine breaking will help you.we got the ultimate tow package, let go of the steering wheel & back up with knob on dash.$56,400 with added options.been watching you changing trucks for awhile now fighting with the payload.good luck
Hi Tin Bender, That's cool you have a similar 7.3 dually. I hope it's worked out well for you and my fingers are crossed it will work out well for us. So far I have really been enjoying the truck. You have a really high payload. Sounds like you may have a regular, or extended cab to save that much weight. Very cool! Your right it's been a fight between finding a truck with a good payload and that will allow us to remove our camper while it's in the garage. We're limited with a 12'4" garage height. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
I have a 2021 F250 XLT FX4 Godzilla that I carry approximately 3,100 Lbs. of truck camper with and the downhill transmission control is very stout. Almost too stout sometimes but it eliminates white knuckle driving when going down very steep mountain grades. I am retired and I have used this set-up for 37,000 miles in stock form and it has performed flawlessly. I can go as fast as I want up the steepest mountain grades with this powertrain, fully loaded. I have been very impressed with this power train and I think you will be too. Welcome to the Ford team! Lol.
@@slmjake Fully loaded, 9.5 to 10.5 mpg. Empty, 14 city and I have seen as high as 20 mpg highway but usually around 18 hwy. I have a heavy foot and I tend to be the passer not the one being passed, even when fully loaded up a mountain.
@Eric Carawan sir thanks for the info! I would like to get a truck camper again. Past campers were a pop up on a half ton and then a larger one on a Ram diesel dually. Do you have a crew cab long bed? What kind of camper and what axle ratio do you suggest? I was hoping to stay in a crew cab 6.5 bed single rear wheel setup thus a smaller camper.
@@slmjake Mine is a F250 Single rear, Supercrew, 6'10" bed with a payload of 3,114 lbs. I have a 2021 Wolf Creek 840 camper with a dry weight of 2,300 lbs. I'm not sure what the axle ratio is on mine but it does squat a bit when fully loaded but I just corrected that with some Timbren bump stops just recently. The truck handles the load very well and I have more than enough power along with excellent engine braking for the steep mountain grades. The 7.3 gasser with the 10 speed transmission is the best gas powertrain in the heavy duty segment by far in my opinion. Just remember, payload is king when you shop for your truck, not towing. My best advice would be to decide which camper you want first and then find the truck that can handle the load plus cargo and occupants. I'm around 3,100 lbs. fully loaded which is at my max but that is as loaded as I can get so the truck handles it well.
@Eric Carawan thanks Eric for the great feedback. You are one of several folks with a truck camper who have said diesels are great but the 7.3 with the ten speed is the bomb!
Nice rig. Do yourself a favor. Buy some tork lift camper packers to store your camper on. Best thing i did. I know the Jacks are good, but getting the wieght of the camper on the stongest structural part of the camper is a piece of mind. Hit a specialty contractor lumber supply store, like a Lumbermans. Ask if they have bone yard and look some 2x lvl ( laminated veneer lumber) to use. Much stronger and usually cheaper than clear 2x6 lumber. I found some lvl scaffolding planks from a scaffolding company. They sold them to me for cheap. Ripped them down on the table saw. You won't be disappointed on going this route.
That sounds like a good idea, I'll have to look into that. I have thought about building a stand for quite some time I just haven't got around to doing it. I do like the Lam beam idea. Thanks for watching!
@@RunawayRoses im looking forward to seeing a review on the 7.3. I have a 2001 7.3 diesel and love it. Simple to work on. Thanks to crapifornia and carb. Diesels suck nowadays.
You didn't order that? I haven't seen a DRW 7.3L gasser at my dealer yet, they are all 6.7's. Nice truck I don't usually like black but the two-tone looks real nice.
We didn’t order the truck but someone else did but they ended up not buying it. They bought something else before it came in. So we got lucky! Thanks for watching!
@@RunawayRoses I should have finished the video. Whoever ordered it got the perfect specifications... I think getting a gasser dually pretty much has to be ordered from the factory. Nice set up for sure.
So I am a Ford Truck guy who grew up around Dodge trucks , I love old Dodge Trucks and cummins guy, but I have completely went blue oval for comfort how I fit and features. I am over the whole Diesel truck thing for personal use because of the extra cost and major repair issues, however I use Diesel for my trucking business, excited to see what y'all think about the Gasser
I always wanted a diesel but Deff fluid seems like a major inconvenience, my buddies talk about deleting their trucks but that’s another $6-8k premium. Diesel are probably going to become business only vehicles like you said.
@@nativeoutdoors1780 Depends on the brand as the Duramax is at least 8k if not more to delete in Canada and of course not even legal to delete anywhere in the states nor will any shop touch a truck to delete for fear of massive fines. The 2016 and prior Duramax for example is about what you quoted to delete. I believe the Fords are less expensive then the 2017+ Duramax as GM has locked their ECM and companies are charging a lot to unlock the ECM. Of course deleting voids the factory warranty unfortunately. The main problem IS government sticking their nose into everyone's lives !
@@charlesb4267 well companies aren't charging 8k for a tune, a straight pipe and tuner aren't that expensive, then you just do the work yourself, it's not hard just takes patience.
@@nativeoutdoors1780 I would suggest you look it up on websites that have all the components and I am including not only the DPF and related system that ties onto the back of the turbo but also the EGR delete and a brand new ECM that is unlocked ( retaining your old ECM ) and then the new programming is in addition to that, also new up pipes, the down pipe and yes the full exhaust with muffler in stainless steel. And again this is on the L5P, its a whole different deal vs the older trucks. In fact assuming you are in the states I don't know that you will even find a website that lists all the parts anymore due to the EPA having everyone running scared, certainly no legit shop willing to go near deletes in the states. I was just in a specialty shop up here the other day and they were not only talking 8 grand ( labour as part of it ) but that things were not going well at all as the L5P trucks they have deleted so far have not been panning out, they wouldn't tell me why but they were not happy with the whole ordeal. Its only very recently and not sure if its really on the market yet to buy the unlock system to unlock the ECM as it sits on the vehicle, that is a new development and may change the picture slightly for price. Of course buying a new unlocked ECM is a huge expense vs getting your factory one unlocked. I am also speaking in Canadian dollars, I did forget to mention that. My neighbour that had his LML deleted maybe three years ago said it was about 1200.00 at that same shop, programming turned off the EGR and threw on a new exhaust kit with muffler and whatever tune he decided to go with and turned off the stupid DEF crap. GM has made it very hard to do it cheaply anymore it would appear, the Dodge and Ford are way easier its said.
I pretty much bought the same truck after my duramax injector pump failed on the road. I don’t need or want a diesel. Mine has 430 gears though. I think the load center point is your primary concern, too far back and the frame will tend to bow up in the middle. By the way it took eight months for the ford to arrive and the delay added 5000 dollars to the msrp. I hope I never have to order another pickup again. I do really like our f350 lariat ultimate. Fingers crossed.
Beautiful truck! I have the same truck only difference is 6.7 diesel I tow a 6500 26 ft travel trailer and get 13 to 13.5 mpg. towing and 18 to 19 not towing . I’m very interested to see how yours does, because diesels are more expensive to operate, plus mine uses 1 qt. Of oil every 5000 miles and it’s a new truck.
I have a 2022 F350 XLT with the 73 Dually door sticker is 6305 .I put a 2023 Northern-lite 10-2 fully load down the road at the Cat scale I am at 13200 . My truck is a super cab wish you the best of luck with your truck.
Hi Keith S., Sounds like you got a nice truck and camper set up and you're in good shape weight wise. I know those 10-2's are fairly heavy as well for a no slide unit. Ours was definitely heavier than what was on it's sticker. Love the Northern Lite's though. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
Love the new truck! Hey just a thought that info about insurance on an F450 versus F350 is pure gold! I bet lots of people don’t know that. you guys don’t seem super focused on TH-cam views but I was just thinking you would get a whole lot of views on a short and easy video just about insurance cost differences. Along those lines I think there are some states that consider even a 1 ton truck a commercial vehicle and I think end up costing a lot more either in registration or insurance or both in those states. Thanks you guys for another great video!❤😊🛻🚚🚛
There used to be just 2 reasons why i enjoyed this channel .... But, now there is 4 reasons ... 2 were your wife .. Then Todd's hick accent ...😂 But now the fact that you finally made the move to the Ford truck !!! 👌👍👍👍👍😎
Interesting to watch how this works out. 8n theory it should be better than the RAM. I am most interested how it does going down hill without the awesome Cummins exhaust brake. Hopefully, the Ford 10 speed will do all the work both uphill and down. Also wondering how load it is pulling a steep hill running higher RPMs. Great job and thanks for sharing.
Hey Bryan Swanson, I am curious to see how it goes down hill as well. I'll definitely miss the diesel exhaust brake but I feel sure the truck will do just fine. I'll just have to get use to it. We'll let everyone know how it goes, fingers crossed. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Randpam Adventures, Hopefully it will be enough. Our main goal was to be able to get the camper in the garage again and still have enough payload. Our Ram flatbed was just too tall to take the camper off. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
I’m still running my Lance 975 and Ram 3500 I’m maxed out on payload, I know, but so far the truck does not feel it. I have upgraded the full suspension front and back.
Beautiful new truck! I'm in the research stage and considering an F450 chassis cab with a 7.3 gas engine. This would give me a wider front track axle and tighter turning radius. It will be interesting to see how you find the turning radius compared to your old 4500 Ram? Also, are you going to be able to tow the Jeep with the camper on?
Oh,, by the way, yeah you lost 75 lbs on the tailgate removal but you will gain that right back with the hitch extender for the trailer, plus a couple of pounds. I also am always bouncing on the numbers game, (have the CAT scale app on phone also). The hitch will take weight off the front axle but due to leverage points but it will add to the rear axle more than the weight of the extender.
The best part about the 7.3 gasser is just like the old v10 gasser: 8 mpg towing, 8mpg unladen, and 8mpg sitting in the driveway 😂
Only reason I would buy a Diesel again is if i was towing heavy load 60-70% of the time
Mid 14s in my 22 F-250 Tremor with 7.3 Godzilla. I'll see what it gets when towing my 33 ft travel trailer this summer.

Yes I use the beastly payload on my F350 quite often. Comes in handy when I have to make a payment........
Beautiful truck. I have a black Ford with black leather and I match tinted the front windows. It's a game changer in the summer.
Hello Todd,
You are right it is a numbers game.
Wrong, it is not max towing capacity, it is payload in truck bed.
We have a 2020 F-350 w 7.3. We short bed, haul wold creek 840. It does a great job. Thats a beautiful truck. Congratulations!
Better choice than today's diesels
When the wife gets a big smile on her face, its a winner. We have a black Lariat as well and wouldn't have any other.
Beautiful truck congrats
I have a 2020 f250 with 7.3 Godzilla after 35k miles I love it enjoy 👍
I’m excited to see how things go… I’ve got a duramax currently and after needing to plug it in this year due to freezing up in the cold, injector issues, $1.00 a gallon more to fill, and being advised to use a premium def and fuel additive…I’m considering going gas. The new Silverado with the Allison branded tranny is the only contender next to that Godzilla, a super stout set up! Congrats!!!
That truck is a beauty ! Excellent choice !
Beautiful color
almost bought a 7.3 but decided to stay with my 6.0.
Congrats!
we bought a 2021 350 Godzilla and with the wife, me and full gas at the scale it weighed 7700. We love it. Same color scheme too.
Beautiful rig. Congratulations! Love starting with a CAT scale lol!
Wow a new truck... and to think we still love our Casita😊
Beautiful truck!! Here in NY state diesel is closer to $2.00 more. It will be interesting on how the 7.3 performs. Thanks for your videos!!
Same here in Maine. $3.66 for gas, $5.50ish for diesel. Diesel just doesn’t make sense unless you’re hotshot trucking or something imo
This is the exact setup I run now, I added Stableload uppers and lowers and the truck handles the 9-6 like a champ.
@@boostedlss6450 I will look into those, thanks for the tip. Enjoy your rig!
@@boostedlss6450 How tall is your rig? Got my set up today and RV place is telling me 11 ft which I find hard to believe..

DEF and Oil change costs. Facts.
Oh, oh oh!!!!!! TOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!!!!! Good job Buddy! No mixed opinions here.
Enjoy.

Ya'll are my hero! Beauty of a truck. Keep on Truckin'!
I also got a 2022 F350 XL 7.3l gas Dually,6675lb payload.the dually also has engine braking
Great video and great info -Thank You! You may not have to add any air bags or sway bar to this truck. Try it out first, that's a lot of payload.
Beautiful truck. I’ve never bought a pickup for fuel mileage.
Good looking truck.

Congrats. Great looking truck.
Congratulations on your new truck
I have a 2021 F250 XLT FX4 Godzilla that I carry approximately 3,100 Lbs. of truck camper with and the downhill transmission control is very stout. Almost too stout sometimes but it eliminates white knuckle driving when going down very steep mountain grades. I am retired and I have used this set-up for 37,000 miles in stock form and it has performed flawlessly. I can go as fast as I want up the steepest mountain grades with this powertrain, fully loaded. I have been very impressed with this power train and I think you will be too. Welcome to the Ford team! Lol.
Sir what kind of mpgs do you get with your rig?
Beautiful truck!

@@santibanez91 6 to 8k????
Sorry man deleting a truck ain't the expensive try 2k max
Check out the liquid spring suspension
I have a 2022 F350 XLT with the 73 Dually door sticker is 6305 .I put a 2023 Northern-lite 10-2 fully load down the road at the Cat scale I am at 13200 . My truck is a super cab wish you the best of luck with your truck.
Hi Keith S., Sounds like you got a nice truck and camper set up and you're in good shape weight wise. I know those 10-2's are fairly heavy as well for a no slide unit. Ours was definitely heavier than what was on it's sticker. Love the Northern Lite's though. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
Love watching all your videos keep the good work up. Can’t wait to see what you do to your truck.
Great choice!
Then Todd's hick accent ...😂
But now the fact that you finally made the move to the Ford truck !!! 👌👍👍👍👍😎
I subscribed to see more vids of your truck
Wow awesome no more payload problems
With a 6400# payload seems like he should be able to tow right about 7k with a large slide in camper
5:30 No one else caught that joke 😂
Oh,, by the way, yeah you lost 75 lbs on the tailgate removal but you will gain that right back with the hitch extender for the trailer, plus a couple of pounds. I also am always bouncing on the numbers game, (have the CAT scale app on phone also). The hitch will take weight off the front axle but due to leverage points but it will add to the rear axle more than the weight of the extender.
Really nice truck...
Of course Taylor is more comfortable in the Ford, I wouldn't be caught dead in a Ram. Smart pup!
