The sitar is a plucked stringed instrument, originating from the Indian subcontinent, used in Hindustani classical music. The instrument was invented in medieval India and flourished in the 16th and 17th centuries and arrived at its present form in 18th-century India.

Hi guys I want to confess and apologies at same time because of the confusion I had during the shoot …
1) in marathi we call ( lauki/ guard) = bhopla
And ( kaddu/ pumpkin)= bhopla
2) when I asked that what is this they told me bhopla and I thought it’s a pumpkin 🎃 because I haven’t seen that kind round lauki / guard so ya it’s a guard not pumpkin but you we can edit the video and really sorry for that genuine confusion!!!
It is not kaddu. It is khohada (कोहड़ा)

Don't say still standing. It's proliferating. Indian classical music is timeless. It's spiritual.
It is not Sitar it's tanpura and this is how it made traditionally from thousands of years and still.

All this Sitar making cramped in 9:04 minutes doesn't justify the entire skills of the sitar and tanpura makers , its because of people like them why the Hindustani instrumental Classical music is alive. My very sincere regards to Rajat .
Miraj city is known for this type of satar, vina, harmonium work in the world. Lot of famous artist buys their instruments from this city. One of the famous instrument from Amol Palekar's movie Anahat was made in this city. I am feeling proud that I am belongs to this city. Japanese Government was invited to Mr. Balasaheb Satarmekar on the project of instrumental music who is belongs from this city and profession.
