    There used to be a time when luxury was defined by the quality of materials, design and workmanship. It seems these days it's defined by the amount of new gadgets.

      Actually, for most people, "luxury" isn't specifically defined by either, it's defined by "exclusivity" and "status", which really has never changed. Since quality, design and workmanship is something that even regular cars these days have, it has forced "luxury" manufacturers to find other ways to make their vehicle meet buyer expectations. The best way there is to innovate, introduce more complexity and advanced technologies into there cars. It's not good enough anymore to just make your car refined and wrap it in leather, because even a Kia does that.

    The "tap and push down" feature is called haptic feedback and it can be turned off in the settings. Settings -> Display and Brightness -> MMI -> Touchscreen Feedback.
    Some people like it others don't.

The S Class interior, for instance, could be seen as gaudy and over-done by some, and the S8's more minimal and understated interior could be more appealing to some target demos, and a differentiating counterpoint in that market. • @Veikra
      @Veikra ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you cant compare an s class. Audi a8 are rather good in that department. The raising feature is a 880Nm motor cycloidal drive on each wheel and serves as a sway bar . It aint failing for a long time or ever. Cycloidal drives are crazy reliable. I had old sclass, the air spring design was inferior, large cap at the top would leak. A8 D3 uses 2 simple oring and seal forever. D4 uses a oring and a weirder seal at the top but it`s very strong. Your sclass has the same aircompressor, they require dryer media to be dumped and replaced. If you dont, thats where water gets in the system and cause issues. Its well known on commercial trucks. Get your dryer serviced or replace the compressor entirerely, its only 300$ now

Anytime you used the words "mazda" and "MX" in the same sentence, everybody assumes you must mean the MX-5 miata. I've always considered the MX-5 to be my cars smaller younger brother, and the RX-7 to be the world wise older cousin. The MX-6 is an awesome car, it just seems to always get left off the "90s JDM" list because of faster options, having only 170ish HP in the big boy engine model. But sometimes the joy of driving a sports car doesn't have to come from knowing you could beat the guy beside you in a drag race, but just simply driving the car.

    I agree on some aspects of the interior. I think it could and should be more compelling in the Audi and we all know they are more than capable. They chose the subtle path.

    There is an automatic steering, but you need to activate it on every ride. On the tip of the turn signal switch there is this button that activates the lane assist. That being activated will use the camera to see the lanes and will turn the steering wheel accordingly. See this button at 3:53

    Hey Doug, if you don't like a setting, ie haptic touch on the controls, you can change it to a touch setting. I have one of these, it's highly configurable if you have the time to dig into it.

    Mercedes S Class also looks like a big C Class... I don't like the aesthetics of the BMW G70 but is the only flagship sedan that is totally diferent from the rest of the line.

    I think some audi models can do assisting steering, but I think you have to have a special option of suspension and steering parts. I might be wrong but I think I've seen the option in VCDS

      The steering add on, at least for the rs6 avant, reads like it’s the “new” turning mechanism they added to the mk7 golf. For tighter turning, not for self turning

      I would be very surprised if it didn't have any sort of lane keep assist. There is definitely an autonomous drive option, that is actually very advanced but is limited due to regulations

    I valet park these cars all the time , s class A8/S8 and I have to say the interior of the A8 is on par with the s class when you have certain options like the unfinished wood trim and different color leathers and stuff. I’ve been more blown away by some of the A8s than the S classes I park. However I think the Lexus LS has the nicest interior of the three in my opinion, I love the unique Japanese style door panels

    In europe yon can spec a A8 to almost 200k usd. Even tho its an S8 its still a low spec car, you can spec 3 screens in back comfort seats with adjustments and rear bucket seats with fixed center console. Also, you can ditch base seats like in your car and get comfort seats and you can get like 15 diffrent types of leather
