@julianthatplayz8621 mania 2 was never planned, nor canceled, it just doesn't exist (unless you say sonic superstars is mania 2, which is a safe assumption tbh)
@@shortnameswill You don’t have to imagine, there was a fan game based on proto S1 named Sonic Overture. Doesn’t have Star Light Zone though. What sucks is it's not very accurate and was canceled.
Amazing rendition! This is like an Act 2 theme would be like if Star Light Zone was in Sonic and Knuckles. I could imagine running along neon lights, big screens and futuristic buildings with new obstacles and challenges.
i set this to my alarm when i was in my junior/senior years of high school and now every time i listen to this i get nostalgic. good work man, always love your stuff!
Tee Lopes's version is still my favorite, but I think this is a close second! I like how it's extended at the beginning, similar to album versions of various Sonic & Knuckles songs, not to mention the fresh/chill vibes also present in Tee Lopes's version.
@@ruskah0307 Well I mean, as lenient Sega usually are about their products, or at least the wider Sonic Team overall, I still think I'd rather just use a facsimile of a Sonic song than an existing one. The game I've been working on, I originally wanted to heavily sample a few Michael Jackson songs for a couple of songs in the game. I don't think that'd go over well if I decided to sell my game for money. If I do sample things at all, I think I'm gonna do my best to do something new with the audio and then heavily bitcrush it. Copyright laws are, quite frankly, kinda garbage at times, especially if you can get into legal trouble for someone else's song. Eventually, it comes down to "did someone else make up a funny melody ever in their lives?" and then you have to think if prehistoric music is allowed and if the deep future when all music is already done makes all music illegal unless you're the one dude from 1972 who invented it and cause some cover band to be executed in 2471. That said, this cover is given permission, so I guess the responsibility would fall under the artist, and if Sega doesn't care, then that's just cool for everyone!
Some of those tones tickle my eardrums just right. also that chord progression change in the beginning threw me off but I got used to it REAL quick. Very tasty. great work.
SOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Star Light Zone - Good Future, this is unbelievable how good it is, this is my 4th listening to this on repeat and I love everything about this, amazing work John!
this is probably based on Love Won't Wait by Bobby Caldwell. fits perfectly considering the intro to that song was probably sampled for star light. btw edit: the lyrics in the description are literally modified from Love Won't Wait. nice job John Tay.
Wow, awesome re-arrangement of this classic tune! It keeps the same feel as the original, but takes it to a whole new level! (Act 4, if you will?) Very cool! :)
Starry Skies Zone Act 1. Boss Idea : Eggman Will Throw Lightbulbs at you every 10 seconds until you get to 5 hits. Then Eggman will use two wrecking balls and swing them at you.
one of my favorites thus far, you really have a knack for taking compositions and really kicking them into high gear, wonderful job fr
You know it's good when Sonic himself approves it
yes true inded👍🏼
*Star Light Zone Act 2*
This is amazing, John! Keep up the amazing work!
True this would be a good track for act 2 if there were to be a sonic mania 2
@julianthatplayz8621 mania 2 was never planned, nor canceled, it just doesn't exist (unless you say sonic superstars is mania 2, which is a safe assumption tbh)
Don't you think I didn't hear you slip that "Love Won't Wait" in there by Bobby Caldwell
so did i, instantly recognized it.
I was waiting for this one, and oh boy, i am not disappointed.
Same
This and the concept art next to it make me like the idea of this zone a lot better
Proto Sonic 1 was more fantastical, for some reason they made it more grounded and more boring IMO.
@@protocetid i def agree, I can imagine how it could look like in game, and it's 10x better

cool@@protocetid
Welp i imagine if this Song was used in the scrapped level called moon rock zone
What I'm imagining rn:
Star Light Zone (Good Future remix)
Amazing rendition! This is like an Act 2 theme would be like if Star Light Zone was in Sonic and Knuckles. I could imagine running along neon lights, big screens and futuristic buildings with new obstacles and challenges.
i set this to my alarm when i was in my junior/senior years of high school and now every time i listen to this i get nostalgic. good work man, always love your stuff!
omg that really made me cry, just listening the intro
star light zone is a really hard one to get right and im happy to see you did it justice
Kinda feels like a Good Future version, to me, but Act 2 is also a very apt description. Well done!
for some reason my brain started thinking of palmtree panic past combined with this.
Amazing song, its a banger.
Tee Lopes's version is still my favorite, but I think this is a close second! I like how it's extended at the beginning, similar to album versions of various Sonic & Knuckles songs, not to mention the fresh/chill vibes also present in Tee Lopes's version.
Feels like door into summer...
Would it be possible for me to use this in a video with your permission?
sure you may use it
@@johntayjinf Can I use this in my RPG game I am working on?
@@begonedamen it's literally from sonic 1. this is a remix. the original is literally copyrighted.
@@begonedamen I mean as a fan game I'm sure it is, but an original property no way

2:09 drives me absolutely kooky every fucking time, AWESOME shit man
mighty sounds like bobby caldwell's song "love won't wait"
pretty much the point
Why are these so underrated? these are awesome!
By far the best remix of this zone that I've ever heard. Simply phenomenal work!
Some of those tones tickle my eardrums just right.
also that chord progression change in the beginning threw me off but I got used to it REAL quick.
Very tasty. great work.
its the little changes that make it so much more groovy
I'm getting major chill vibes in this, and that's perfect!
Starlight is the best track in the game
SOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Love the city pop/plastic love influence this track has.
Someone place this in a sonic rom hack. This sounds absolutly gorgeous!
Yo I really love this remix! Star light zone is my favourite zone so this is ever better!

this remix is so pleasant to listen to

Wow it’s beautiful. Truly spectacular
so chill
Your version is the best. Gone are the days when there’s only trashy remix of Starlight Zone available on youtube 👍🏻
Love how this one sounds a lot.

my first time hearing this and it feels like i heard it before thats how good it is
Instantly Favourited.
I love this slower more chilled out version, it's beautiful. Honestly comes pretty close to the tee lopes versions in terms of beauty.
the download needed for me to do some work and mixing but I love the track
This is amazing!
Sick af, Looks like it's a remastered version of sega's old games
And now, your local forecast.
Tonight, mostly clear with a chance of star light. Low 69.

That Toxic Cave transition at the end 👌

Starry Skies Zone Act 1.

Act 2???
I can hear some Scott the Woz “You’re not an RPG Guy” theme in there
no SN76489?
What if: you defeated eggman in act 1 and had a transitional act 2
These chords…
I feel like this version fits a little more for the level than the original.
this should be a Sonic 1 2013 mod to replace the music in that game with these banger remixes
It kinda reminds me of palmtree panic tbh.
