    So fun fact about Gideon Malick:
    He actually appeared in the first Avengers movie. There's a scene where Fury chats with the shadowy world leaders, and Malick is one of those people. They even had the same actor playing the character.
    It goes to show how much they planned in advance back when they put effort into connecting AoS with the films.
    Also with Yo-Yo. Something that I love about her is how whenever we see her use her powers, she's usually smiling and having fun with her abilities. It's really nice to see. Plus, I love her theme. We desperately need a soundtrack release to share her theme and Daisy's theme.

    In this episode, while talking to Mack, Yo-Yo describes the process of Terrigenesis in the line of "Rock crawling up her body and feeling like suffocating"... then when you watch season 2 episode 10, you can see Daisy gasping for air while the cocoon covers her.
    It's just one of the examples why AOS is better than majority of other MCU shows.

    AOS writers introduce new characters so well, it's so natural the way they connect each other.

    Gavin: "You know Hydra has never really been about being better technology wise"
    Hydra: Having literal laser guns in the 40s powered by the tesseract.

      "Powered by the tesseract". I said they always go for "extraterrestrial power" (ie the tesseract ) instead of just direct tech that they themselves make, but actual ships with claw machines and stuff I feel like we dont see Hydra make much of until now.

    • @David-bf2cg
      @David-bf2cg 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @@JustGavinBennett Yes the Tesseract is Extraterrestrial, but the laser guns are still like technology. Also Hydra was part of shield so they have a lot of fancy tech, same as what Shield has. Also don't forget the cyber eyes Hydra used in season 1, Winter soldiers arm etc.

    i always found Lincolns talk about Inhumans getting the powers they need at the right time for a specific reason very interesthing. Definetly something to keep in mind, like why does Daisy have the powers she have, why does Lincoln, why does Yoyo etc. I guess Raina got the power she got so she could save Daisy possibly? I dont know. Its cool to theorize and think about.

    • @Likeomgitznich
      @Likeomgitznich 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I always created lose connections.
      Yo-yo always ran away from danger. She got the power to run through it.
      Daisy is always shaking up the establishment, so she got the power to shake everything around her.
      Lincoln is volatile and dangerous. He has a temper. So he got something equally volatile and dangerous.
      Raine always depended on her good looks and charm to get information. So she got knowledge and incite in exchange for her looks.

  • @David-bf2cg
    @David-bf2cg 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +50

    I really like how AOS was creative with the powers people have, especially in giving people limitations, which breeds creativity and you avoid a lot of plot holes. Like dont get me wrong, Yo yo doing what she can do is amazing, and she is really strong, but her having to snap back, and it being tied to her heartbeat is just so cool, and also lets you avoid issues that you may have with a character like the flash which can just keep running super fast, endlessly, all the time. Which means you shouldnt really ever lose and you therefore create plot holes, and lose stakes. So therefore i really like yoyos powerset, and i think limitations or weaknesses need to be more prevalent in superhero powers and stories.

    I like the fact that they say that the inhuman powers fill a need because it explains why lash and the other inhuman have there powers because of the excess in inhumans at the time.

    22:55 Quake, Slingshot (Yo-Yo/Elena), and Hive are the only Inhumans (that I know of) that existed in the comics before AoS. Lash was actually adapted into the comics post-Aos and both Quake and Slingshot’s original comic counterparts were altered to match more with AoS (which was for the better with Quake bc originally she was a mutant, not with the X-gene, due to her father, Cal/Mr.Hyde making himself a mutate after experimenting on himself. I think having Cal being a mutate and Jiaying being an Inhuman makes her origin a little more interesting).
    Also Slingshot has her own miniseries on youtube, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Slingshot, that takes place in between S3 and S4, they’re very short videos so you can condense them into a single reaction. You should probably watch them after S4 Ep8 bc they’re told in flashbacks and might spoil somethings but they recontexualize certain parts of S4.

    • @Icybubba

      So Lash actually was in the comics before he was in AoS, he first showed up in the comics in 2014, so he was adapted into AoS about a year ish later

  • @saltyshieldstan
    @saltyshieldstan 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

    I think Season 4 and maybe also Season 5 would be better suited to one episode a week. A LOT happens.
    Some of the inhuman characters are unique to AOS (I think Joey and Lincoln are both original characters), but several are from the comics, including Yo-yo, Lash, and Hive. Much like the MCU, AOS always puts its own spin on them though! And 100% agree, Makkari is my favorite live-action speedster, but Yo-yo is a very, very close second!

    22:47 If there is something in the subtitles, assume it was supposed to be there. These show creators don't make mistakes - if you notice it, you're supposed to have had a chance to notice it and to be excited about what you noticed. Your excitement is your reward for paying careful attention - the show trains you to pay careful attention by putting in stuff that could be missed, stuff that is subtle instead of just bludgeoning you with it, stuff you might not actually notice until the 3rd time you watch the series.

    Great reaction and analysis as always! I'm excited for what's to come!
    I like how SHIELD handles powered people in this show. In Ms. Marvel for example, the DODC was solely focused on containment only, and they didn't really take motives or trainability into account. In AoS, SHIELD looks at powered people on a personal level, then they choose whether to contain, train, or release powered people.
    I don't mind the single episode reactions, and where you are in the show is a great time to start that!

    Something worth noting is Simmons’ interest in understanding more about Inhuman biology. Back in season 2 after Daisy got her powers, she had developed gloves under the impression that she was unwell. What she didn’t undertake back then was that the gloves were suppressing Daisy’s powers like inhibitors. Simmons did genuinely believe she was helping, but now she’s starting to see things in a different light. We can thank FictionalDarling for picking up on that detail.

    You should also react to Slingshot- it’s a 30 minute web series centering Yo-yo between the end of season 3 and beginning of season 4. Quality is on par with the shows episodes and gives her character more depth!

    • @David-bf2cg
      @David-bf2cg 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      Yes, I agree he should watch it, but Gavin do not watch it in between seasons, it set in between season 3 and 4 yes, but it has spoilers for season 4 and is primarliy set between episode 4x8 and 4x9. So season 4 episode 8, then Slingshot Miniseries (which i think was nomminated or won and Emmy for best miniseries or something, yeah very cool), and then season 4 episode 9.

      @visvivalaw at first, maybe. But there's still radiation in a vacuum, and assuming you're not by a star, you'd put off more radiation than you'd absorb, and thus get pretty cold
