Radcliffe's death scene is probably one of my favorite in the show. It's so incredibly poignant.

The real villain of this season was the Darkhold. Eli, Dr Radcliff and Aida were all "good" characters until they read the book.

@@doomse150 The first Aida was perfectly immune to the Darkhold's effects. She would never have hurt anyone until she was ordered to by Radcliffe. The second Aida WAS corruptible due to the artificial brain she had.
This season was so well constructed - I love how the Ghost Rider arc leads seamlessly into the LMD arc, which leads seamlessly into the Framework arc, which comes back to the real world and brings Ghost Rider back to wrap it all up. The writing in this show is so satisfying.
Kevin Fiege has been such a butthead when it comes to AoS. He had all these amazing actors and characters at his disposal and he just treated them like unwanted step children. This show had 136 episodes and even if you deduct a few subpar ones, that still adds up to more than all of the Disney+ shows combined (I think, I haven't actually done the math). And they did it for less than a single season of Loki cost (again, haven't done the math but I'd be willing to bet on it).
This is still my favorite show to discuss and watch reactions to. It's been almost 4 years since it ended and I still can't get enough. I'm very happy that there are still new people discovering (and subsequently loving) it. You should take some time and check out a lot of the extra content available on TH-cam. Stuff from conventions (the cast are the best at crowdwork that I've ever seen), their Dubsmash war with the cast of Agent Carter, all kinds of fun stuff.

After S3 saw a ratings decline, fans feared the show would be canceled. It was picked up for Season 4 after S3 finished airing, so there was a question if we would get more.
The same scenario happened with Season 4. I remember thinking how mad I’d be if Phil in space was the way the show ended. Season 4 was peak SHIELD at the time and it had been moved to 10pm, network TVs “timeslot of death”.
When they renewed the show for S5, the showrunners weren’t sure if they’d get a Season 6, so they were more cautious about ending on a major cliffhanger and decided instead to write the ending as if it could be a finale or it could continue. That’s why you might have heard it was cancelled.

I am going to put this down to some misremembering on your part but this wasn't actually the case. AoS was renewed for season four while season three was still in production, thus giving the writers a five to six month head start on working out what they were going to do for season four. The trouble did indeed come with the extremely late renewals/near cancellations for seasons five and six. Had the show not been renewed for season five I suspect that the diner scene would have been a wholesome montage of the team enjoying each others' company (no last minute abductions) and the final shot would have been Radcliffe's final words on the beach... Fade To Black... End of show.
The show wasn't cancelled after Season 5, but they treated it like a final season because they didn't know if they were gonna get cancelled or not.
Because during that time Ike Perlmutter was shutting down a shit ton of Marvel stuff after being salty over losing Studios, and he was consistently shoveling budget from Television's productions into his own passion project (Inhumans), which didn't go well. New Warriors and Most Wanted got axed, Agent Carter got cancelled, and AoS nearly got canned and only survived because Bob Iger had enough of a personal soft spot for the show to basically make ABC and Marvel let Jed and Maurissa keep going until they were finished on their own terms.

Season 5 is phenomenal. Like I can’t believe they did that coming off of Aida, Ghost Rider, and everything else in S4. Season 6 is a major change due to the non-ending of the show in S5. it’s really hard for the show with stakes that grow each season like aos to get bigger after you have the framework and lmds (and stuff in S5 I won’t mention), but the characters have some amazing emotional moments that I can forgive some awkward details.
Season 5 might be my favorite.. and that's saying a lot. Every season the show got better.
By the end of it, I can’t help but to feel bad for Ophelia too. She finally became real and couldn’t handle it, all she felt as a living creature was pain

I havent seem anybody else mention this, but the reason Anton (The Superior) was so meh was they had to rework the character quite late into development
He was meant to be Modok, the producers got approval to use him, then the movies decided they wanted to use Modok and recoked the approval
There actually a reference to this in one of his episodes, he says hes "designed only for killing" and modok is an acronym for Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing
When they were writing season 4, the original plan was to have the 3 pod structure cover LMD, Framework, and MODOK. Marvel ended up getting the rights back to several characters which included Blade and Ghost Rider. Marvel TV were given the okay to use the Ghost Rider of their choice for the show and they elected to use the Robbie Reyes version. They wanted to use the character immediately, so they tried to find a way create a 4 pod story for season 4. Eventually they came to the conclusion there weren't enough episodes to cover what they wanted. They pushed the MODOK story to season 5 and did some of the groundwork introductory work during the season for the watchdogs, the superior, and Vijay. As they went to begin writing season 5, Marvel Studios rescinded MODOK's use by the show. Paul Rudd had started working on drafts for Ant Man 3 and was using MODOK as the primary villain. So the show had to pivot for season 5.

Aida, Radcliffe, and Robbie were all fantastic characters. Their actors did such a fantastic job in their roles. Also really looking forward to your reactions to season 5, it's probably my favorite season.

Talbon has a metal plate in his head which is how he survived the gunshot. And it doesnt come out of thin air, Talbot actually mentioned that he has a metal plate in his head, earlier in the show. I think in one of the final episodes of last season, but im not 100%.
I don’t think that’s true. I’ve seen people say Talbot has a plate in his head before but no one’s ever given an actual episode for it. I think it must be something a commenter once mentioned either (mis)remembering or coming up with a plausible explanation for Talbot’s survival and everyone ran with it as a real line on the show.
@@laurelf.2057 Yeah, you might be right. I've rewatched this show so many times and I don't remember Talbot saying he has a metal plate in this head unless I always miss that every single time, or he said it in a way that was not obvious. 🤔
One of the things I think the show deserves credit for is using Ghost rider just enough, many people worried it will be a glorified cameo, I on the other hand worried the writers will have him take over the show and sideline our main characters to get more viewers (in a way appeasing the haters!) but I was glad to be proven wrong, he's a full fledged character, but not on the expense of our main cast, I'll happily eat crow for my doubts! which serves me right because I doubted the writers in the beginning of the show thinking they will force a redemption arc on Ward because he's a popular character, but then too they proved me wrong, they embraced villain Ward and gave him so many interesting storylines, then gave him a nice send off in the framework that doesn't detract from real ward's story.
There was a 3rd instance in season 6 where I doubted the writers and they came through yet again, I obviously never learn! but the ability of these writers to not disappoint me personally has been unmatched!
Given all of AOS, I have so much faith in these writers. I hope they're working on great shows now, being well-paid, well-fed, and are well mentally. They deserve it
Now that S4 has ended. I remember how hype and tense things were then. This was the first season I watched week to week and even though it was incredible, it was in a terrible timeslot. We had no idea if S5 was going to happen. Same thing happened when S5 was airing.
I'm not 100% but I think the situation was not that they cancelled after season 5 but they hadn't been renewed yet so they thought they were getting cancelled so they started trying to wrap up the story and got news they were in fact renewed. The showrunners then decided on their own turns to do one last season and split it into 2 mini seasons (seasons 6 and 7) so they could end the show on their own terms and finish telling the story they wanted.
No im pretty sure they got barely renewed after season 5, for a 6th season but it has to be a shorter one, and the got a suprising season 7 renewal later. I havent heard anything about the showrunners making that choice to split it into two shorter seasons.
Yeah I don't believe there was official cancelation, the way I am attached to that show I would have remembered if I cried my eyes out for it getting canceled! but they did film the finale of s5 before it was renewed so it was written to be a potential finale.
@@David-bf2cg Season 7 was already filming before season 6 had even premiered, so, even though I'm not 100% sure, I do think that seasons 6 and 7 were planned together.

It's fun to see you speculating about upcoming seasons (and there are still plenty of surprises to come). Regarding Season 6, it improves with Season 7. Season 7 is my second favorite season, only below Season 4, which is perfect.

Yeah so AOS (as amazing as it is, has basically been on the verge of cancellation since season 1, like every new season was a gift and a sigh of relief for fans) was supposed to end with season 5, and they wrote it as such. But then they got suprised renewed for a shortened 6th season, (Dont know for sure, but from what i have heard, someone high up in Disney/ABC liked the show a lot and wanted it to continue or something, but dont quote me on that), then it got renewed again for another short 7th season (imagine how happy us fans were) when were like 1/3 into making season 6. And then the showrunners didnt want to risk maybe having a season 8 or not have to keep making an ending each season just in case it got cancelled, so they decided to quit on their own terms.
Thankfully season 5 has a great season finale, that would have been a good series finale, but that works well with it not being. And season 7 has a even better season finale. So not that the fact that they thought season 5 was the end didnt complicate some things, but all in all it all worked out really really well considering everything. But we will talk more about all of that when we get there.
I think it was better to tell him at the moment where he reaches season 5, it would be even better at the end of the season, so he can take away a curious fact, now I say that it just ruins it a little.

I can’t remember how season 6 ended, but what I remember thinking is that 5, 6, and 7 all felt like solid endings
As I recall, they were renewed for season 6, and before season 6 even started airing they got the greenlight for season 7, so they knew before they were done filming season 6 that they had one more.
Robbie and Daisy would have made such an amazing couple, really the way they look at each other, you can't convince me they weren't secretly in love, but I think the writers took the mature decision not to put them together because they knew Daisy's character wouldn't have been ready for a new relationship after Lincoln...
oh and also Season 5 is for me the best season of the entire show, specially the end so I hope you're enjoying it !

I felt the same way about finding better shows after Fringe and Agents of SHIELD, and to be honest, nothing has come close for me. I guess those shows are just top tier TV and I'm glad to be one of the few people to have found it lol.
I don't think season 6 is terrible, I won't spoil anything, but while it's not 4 or 5, it's certainly a great season with one of my top 10 episodes in the series.

At the time when it was airing, some people saw Radcliffe's death as a prediction that Thanos would get all the stones and use them. They were kinda right lol, though I don't think it was intentional.

Prepare yourself, s5 was originally intended to be the final season. Without spoiling anything, I'll say that it's good that you're getting a refresh with earlier seasons. Loads of loose-ends are tied up very well, and everything is satisfying.
Originally, they meant for s5 to be the final season because it was during the whole thing where Marvel Television was coming to an end, because the MCU wanted all the Disney+ shows to be the main focus. So AoS wanted to make sure they were able to have a satisfying ending just in case they got cancelled.
But, it was renewed for another full season's worth of episodes. They ended up splitting this in half into s6 and s7 (which are both shorter seasons).

Only one in there that I never liked is Demon Slayer. Animation is cool so I got some scenes in my intro but I gave up after season 1, I thought the characters were annoying lol. I probably shouldn't have put it in my intro but its fun to look at
I like all the seasons. Season 4 and 5 was great. I personally like season 7 the most.
