Fantastic news...Randall replied to the email I sent yesterday regarding the faulty footswitch and have requested my address so they can send me a new one....after some comments I had read about Randall's customer service this was certainly great news! Brutal tones from this beast....very happy with my purchase.
This amp is not just adequate....the more I play this amp the more I like it....not kidding. Just as good clean as distorted....it seriously kicks ass. You really don't need to spend 2 grand on a 100w amp when you can pick this one up new for $799. My Mesa Tremoverb is one of the best 100w amps ever made in my opinion and this Diavlo is right there with it....it will end up being the most underrated....and best priced 100w amp on the market....it is that good....I do not work for Randall in fact this Diavlo is the first product by Randall I've ever purchased.
Hey, Jerry. It sounds to me like your RD really does sound like this video? Well, I own the RD100 and have had it since earlier this year (2014). I have to say that from my own experience I'm a bit disappointed with the amp myself. First, the clean is not that great. It's really muddy and lacks the clean treble/presence you would expect to here. I have my presence knob turned max and the treble usually at 2 and 3 o'clock just to get a decent clear tone. Occasionally, I would have to turn back the treble knob to noon when on OD1 and OD2 because too much of the treble actually shapes the sound and it no longer has that beefy and "brownish" tone. The OD channels are OK doing certain tunes but not for all. For instance, try to play Panama or any of the Van Halen tunes (or any metal tunes that uses lots of palm muting), the RD just blows. Bottom is not tight at all and sounds really muddy. You really can't achieve that tight deep end during palm muting. Even doing AC/DC sucks. So, IMO, I wouldn't exactly put it up there with your Mesa. I play it thru both of my 2X12 (G12M Green Back) and 2X12 (V30) cabs, and they both sound ok, but not great. If you stand like 30 to 45 degrees above the amp (3 to 8 ft. away), you'd hear this really annoying loud mid that even by turning the mid knob down to "0" you still can't get rid of it. It's that much mid. However, if you put your ears right in front of the speakers, then it sounds fine and seems like it has plenty of clarity and less annoying mid. I think all 3 channels sharing the same EQ is horrible, especially because the clean channel isn't clean at all and requires much more treble adjustments. Also, the clean tends to have significantly more bass response compared to OD1. My deepest regret is I SHOULD HAVE purchased the EVH 5150 III (50W), which has super super clean sound in the CLEAN channel, and really tight bottom in the OD channels. Sorry, my friend. The amp just doesn't deserve all the credits some folks claim here on TH-cam. Now I'm stuck with this amp and can never go back in time to reinvest my money into the EVH. But, if you like it a lot, then that's great for you, Jerry. But for me, it's the worst investment I've ever made.
Additionally, the amp does not allow for independently assigning FX Loop to the channels. ALL channels absorb the same FX in the loop. AND here's the worst part. The RD DOES NOT take stomp boxes and pedals well. For instance, when I plug in my GT-10 and GT-100 in front of the amp, it sounds super MUDDY and midsy (the amp makes the pedals sound CHEAP!!). When they are placed in the FX Loop, it still sounds super muddy. However, when I plug my GT gear in my Marshall TSL100 (whether in front or thru the FX Loop), they sound exactly as adjusted. Any adjustments made in the GT-10 / GT-100 that sounds great in the headphones would generally sound great thru the PA, my computer speakers, home audio, and my TSL... Then the minute they're run thru the RD100, the sound effects blows. Makes it sound almost as though the GT pedals suck. But the truth is, the RD just doesn't take pedals well. Then try putting a delay pedal in front of the amp...when you adjust just enough delay in the CLEAN and then you switch to OD1, the delay gets twice as loud...then when you go to OD2, the delay gets 4X as loud. So to even use it, I'd have to separate all my pedals by placing the Reverb, EQ, and Delay pedals in the Loop (which is what I often do anyway) and place the Phaser, chorus, and Wah in front. For a long time, I would have to run, either my EQ pedal or use the EQ settings from the GT pedals thru the loop to make the RD sound half decent. To do so, I would have to scoop out all the mid and mid/high frequencies and max out the 2Khz high frequency setting to get a decent clean in the OD1 and OD2 (also the clean). Otherwise, the amp generally sound DARK and very ROUNDED in the highs. When I first heard a Randall amp, I was assisting a friend to buy one off of a guy selling one on Craigslist...and I've noticed then that it sounded a little midsy and kinda lacks the highs (I think was an older V2 or V1 model). First I thought maybe it was just that particular amp, but now with my own purchase, the RD lacked the same quality. This is my FIRST Randall and surely will be my last. Never again will I spend any hard earning $$$ on a Randall product - unless you want lots of Mids, muddy sound during palm muting, and very rounded in the highs.
I guess I got lucky with my Diavlo RD100h....I couldn't be more satisfied....my friends EVH5153 III is fizzy sounding plus less headroom....Emg 81 85 and SD Black Winter set both extremely tight on ch. 3 with gain at 3:00 and vol. on 3:00....with master at about 9:30 rips my head off! ....and turn your presence knob down to 11:00. Wish it would have worked out better for you.
Wouldn't expect it to be on par with your Blackmore....my favorite guitar player by the way....I use one or two Mesa 4x12 rectifier cabs w/v-30's....would love to have anything by Engl!

The RD100 arrived yesterday....everything is great except one thing....the footswitch....when you press the 3rd ch (gain 2) it automatically switches to the clean channel....unplug the footswitch and it works fine. Anyone else have this problem? Is the problem with the footswitch, footswitch cable or amp?
Great demo bro! I just ordered a new diavolo 100...its gonna be pushing 2 new ElectroVoice black label speakers that cant be blown!! In my custom made 2×12 cab. Always wanted those speakers and finally decided to pull the trigger on them!
Received a replacement footswitch yesterday.....it's not the same one but it works....This footswitch is for the RG1503....but like I said it works....one week with the amp now....FX loop works great....the amp as a whole is still being judged....it's not the fire breathing monster my Mesa Tremoverb is but I need to give it more time....I need another week to give it a full test....more to come.

Great amp (just bought it myself) but I can't understand why a) the FX loop isn't footswitable (and not adjustable) b) the boost on Gain 2 isn't integrated in the normal channel. Switching from high gain metal (Gain 2+Boost) to cleans means that you have to stomp 2 times... Other than that a great amp \m/
I think I'm sold on this amp, hard to say because I have no chance to play one locally. Guess I will rely on somewhere with a good return policy if I pull the trigger on this purchase!
Wow! Sounds killer! It aint no Friedman BE100, but this has a legitimately good clean sound and a great '80s crunch (at a 1/4 of the cost) to the gain channel that would make Lynch smile.
Yep! I think, looking back on it, George has the best '80s crunch tone ever. And this is coming from someone who LOVES Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen lol ;-)
Thanks for giving this a review. Currently looking to buy a new tube head and this seems like the right fit for a Metal player. Seems a little too good to be true at that price point though. This demo is great but to really appreciate it you must plug this amp into a Mesa 4x12 with v30's and hear it for yourself.... you will be blown away by how good it sounds on channel 3....if you like metal, you can not beat the price. Find a new one on sale for 15% off....it's a no brainer.... I can't believe how incredible this amp sounds cranked.... Brutal! Thank me later! ....again, you can not beat this quality for this price.

Heu T what cab are you using? the rd100 i tried sounded absolutely great. almost, but still not quite on par to my engl blackmore.

The only thing I don't like about this amp is the fact that all of the eq settings on the front panel are shared between all of the channels.

Delay is a TC Nova Repeater in the FX loop. No reverb.
