I hope you're enjoying the Series! Seven episodes to go! Tag us in your practice on social media! @richlarsen511 and @ircmoto 🙌 We hope you're feeling the progression!
Practicing these drills on a beaten up DR200. Not allowing myself to buy a new bike until I'm comfortable with everything I've learned from your videos. Thanks very much.
This series is awesome! I realize now that I never really progressed as a rider, off road because I never had a teacher rider coach like this! I just hope this old dog (me), can still learn these new old tricks! Now trials riding means so much to me now, and why the best riders use these techniques to ride difficult terrain and obstacles. !!! 👍😊🏍️
I like how you explained the circle towards the end of the video, a lot of people stay in the comfort zone (myself included) and don't even try something harder. I've been trying harder things on my bike and my old KDX surprises me often. I can actually do a lot more than I thought I could
At 60 yrs I truly enjoy you doing these drills I have forgotten I think more than I remember lol you are helping me ba a better and safer rider even w 50 yes of experience thank you.i am blessed by having 2 grandsons to ride with and showing them these drills they are really improving every time the do drills do one about stopping as fast as you can to avoid death lol good work thank you
Your videos and drills are awesome. As a new dirt bike rider, I cannot thank you enough for the content you produce. Extremely helpful and fun to practice. You are one of the best at explaining the “why” behind what you do. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for all of these videos man! I’m new to riding and I don’t ever really feel comfortable on my klx300r when on the trails unless it’s flat. I always feel like I’m one step from falling and I’m going to practice all of these once the weather here in NY warms up!
Thank you very much. I'm really looking forward to practicing all of the drills in this series. 35 years of street riding cruisers and new to dual sport, this is just what I was looking for.🤗
Absolutely priceless! Both very informative and highly entertaining (the dynamics between you and Mark are quite something 😆) You truly inspire me to dedicate time for technical practices, can't thank you enough for that.
Thanks a bunch. Ill be 52 years old applying these tips so I can do my first hare scramble with my 16 year old in march. I appreciate every tip you give us!!
Great content Rich, thank you for putting together such thoughtfully crafted series! I am new to enduro - 35 hrs on the clock, out of which 30.5 hrs spent doing drills from your series... Some of the exercises also apply to MTB and have helped me improve my static balance on the bicycle.
I know these lessons are aimed at enduro, but this is what i struggle the most with on my midsize ADV. That "no time to stand up in a rock garden" really hit home... I'm about 5'11 but on a 790R I've maybe got even worse footing than Marc on that bike. Gonna definitely get out and practice this
Great episode (as always) Rich. As a kid I didn't have a dirtbike so I entertained myself with the balance drills you're teaching. I'm middle-aged now and they've come in very handy, allowing me to do risky maneuvers while avoiding injury when things don't go as planned. Good job Rich and Mark, you're cultivating talent and growing the sport. I won't forget who taught me when it's time to buy tires.
another great video -- nice to see someone who has clearly analyzed and questioned every aspect of what you are doing on the bike -- you should be called the Professor!
Thank you for taking the time to explain the basics Plenty of videos showing advanced techniques and terrain. Unfortunately I see many riders at our facility trying to ride well past their abilities because good videos like yours were not available or the videos are shown in a way that a new rider could grasp
Rich, you are the absolute BEST teacher by far! I also love your passion and I really get a kick out of your laugh. Wish I could ride with you! Oh, love Roamer too!
Great video, awesome and applicable even on a trials bike. I hope there will be one session in the series on bailing off the bike safely when things go wrong. I do love that you covered stepping off the bike using the peg, it is a good habit to get into swinging a leg over the bike getting on and off while on the peg rather than waiting until things go really sideways and trying to get feet on the ground. I practice this periodically after watching a Pat Smage video on practicing dismounts. I used to do this effortlessly as a kid on my push-pedal bike, even riding around standing on one pedal and on one side of the bike!
I love watching these training videos and hopefully I'll find a way to practice soon even with the snow on the ground we have here 🙃. Instructional and fun! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for doing this series. These drills would be fun exercise time in the backyard. And excellent practice. I have uphill/downhill areas that I can use to make different variations.
I just saw your story on Facebook about IRC firing you if you don't hit 50k subs. If you don't hit the 50k by the end of today it's not because of you or your content, your guides are hands down by far the most explained and thorough on TH-cam! IRC's loss! I always try and drill your tech iques into my head while I'm riding, you've personally helped my growth Keep at it chief 🤙 Good luck and happy new year
That was just a joke haha. IRC is the best company! They've never made a requirement goal for me hit as far as views, likes, or subscribers. Trust me they are as into what I'm putting out as I am!!
Winter here in UK, so I hung a rope from the garage rafters to the centre of the handlebars and spent several days trying static balancing. The huge benefit is getting comfy with mounting/dismounting on the pegs using body weight over the centre. Huge confidence gains constantly being unable to static balance, catching the fall repetitively (without the rope acting). I find I'm addicted to getting up on the pegs and shifting the bike up off the side stand. The natural stance is bum out leaning forwards. #WinterExercise.
Love this stuff. I ride 95% moto and race purely moto, but bike skill is bike skill no matter the discipline. & when I do go trail riding being able to double blip up and over fallen trees is so fun
This is an awesome series Rich, I've been trying to explain a lot of this to one of my riding buddies but your explanations along with the actual video of it being put to use is so much better. I sent him the link and know that both of us will put these lessons to use. Thanks for putting this series together. We will be seeing Mark lead you up one of your rocky cliff runs up the canyon when it thaws out right??? Lol
These are truly great and so helpful! I’m doing some of these on my Africa Twin, and some other ones on my CT125 first and then moving up to the ATAS…simply b/c it’s too freakin heavy.
I'm still working on the track stand!! LOL. All joking aside these drills are going to take a lot of practice to achieve!! Thank you so much for giving me something to do on my motorcycle that takes very little space and can be done at home!!
I am absolutely loving this. Thank you guys soooo much for time and effort in sharing this knowledge. I'm a 54 year old Ozzie and I feel what you are teaching here is incredible. And you guys are sooo fucking funny.....bonus. Thanks heaps. Mark
Wow it's sooo pleasant to try out your drills and realize I can do them with ease :) The years of practice pay off 😁 Btw it would be really interesting if you could not only show the basic drill but also its advanced and even extreme level for more experienced riders. For example for the previous clutch control drill, advanced level would be going up and down with front wheel in the air, and extreme level would be having both feet on the pegs... 😉
Rich, all your content and this series in particular is awesome! I started with the"indoor" drills first, as all tracks are closed during winter. And riding in the wild is not an option here in Germany... BTW, I won't tell my friends about your helpful and funny tutorials. I rather surprise them by being more skilled on our next ride, haha! Best wishes from Berlin
Another great video, I'm about the same height as Mark and when I fall in the middle of a downhill I have a hard time getting back on the bike because I'm short and the sit is higher, I'm going to start practicing getting on the bike stepping on the pegs, thank you for the information.
Killer views in the vid!! Wondering if you can eventually cover what stretches are good to do prior to a hard training or race. I for one (as well as nearly everyone else I know) just gears up and head out to start riding. Proper stretching of course takes some time and no one seems to want to do it. Just wondering what you do (if anything) and if you would share that advise.
Love the videos! I’ll be practicing on a supermoto… one thing tho: I noticed the volume fades as you turn to your right. Maybe adjust the mic to the center, and lower if it’s too loud on the collar.
That second exercise has to be really hard. I've never tried it, but I will. I can only say, I tried that while I had my bike on side stand, and I still have a feeling sometimes that the bike will fall over.
Awesome training videos, thanks man!! I want to get your opinion on the power valve springs, which would you say is better for clutch control, or just exercise with what the bike in. Thanks again!
I know a few short inseam riders. They're all over 50 years old. One or two in their mid 70s. They put a foot on the left peg and ride away. This shouldn't be a surprise but they've been doing it for 30-50 years. Student Mark did great. I too want to develop this skill. My path to off-road began at age 62 and 5' 9" it's not so easy. Falling is a concern I need to dispel. Tall riders do have an advantage in more ways than just mounting the bike.
thanks for all the content provided and this series in particular, you have been #1 enduro coach worldwide with no competition for some years, I completed EP 1 & 2 exercises here in Poland - they are well suited for winter time, have one basic question regarding foot placement, you say "balls of both feet on the pegs", what about reaching rear brake in this stance?
Thanks so much man!! I hope to get to Poland one day soon! I personally move to the rear brake when needed. I move my toes to cover the rear, then back to the balls of my feet for any obstacle.
I've been getting on and off my 500exc, 690 enduro and 890 adv r thus way for quite a while. I'm too short to swing my leg over. However, once I stalled the 500exc after riding over a 2ft log and started to fall on the downhill side. I jumped of on the downhill side to catch me and the bike but hit my knee on the peg. It took 16 stiches to close that one. Luckily I didn't ruin any important blood vessels, nerves or ligaments. My bike never hit the ground.
I do that a lot probably 52 years also ride on one peg in tight places but I do drop a lot of times. Yeah hard at first. I learned at young age when I could not get on standing still bike was a little tall.
Would you suggest these drills for larger ADV motorcycles like KLRs and up? Would you have to change anything because of their obvious weigh difference to your motorcycles?
I hope you're enjoying the Series! Seven episodes to go! Tag us in your practice on social media! @richlarsen511 and @ircmoto 🙌 We hope you're feeling the progression!
Are these replies on my comments Spam or real. It stinks of spam.
This series is pure gold! I can’t believe we’re getting all this for free! Keep up the good work, love the content Rich!
Thank IRC for that! Much appreciated!!
Love the videos! I think the dog wants you to quit playing with the bike and play with him.
Practicing these drills on a beaten up DR200. Not allowing myself to buy a new bike until I'm comfortable with everything I've learned from your videos. Thanks very much.
Dude, have new or stiil try?
@endurobee no new bike yet. Haven't had much time for practice. Hopefully back into it soon.
As a brand new rider these videos are a great roadmap to begin getting comfortable without simply taking off and learning the hard way. thank you
Another amazing lesson! I'd swear in episode 10 the dog is gonna hop on your bike and show us everything he has learned. 💯
I like how you explained the circle towards the end of the video, a lot of people stay in the comfort zone (myself included) and don't even try something harder. I've been trying harder things on my bike and my old KDX surprises me often. I can actually do a lot more than I thought I could
Everyone is guilty of that including myself! Glad to help! Keep ripping that KDX!

Another great one. Can't wait to try these. You guys have good 'chemistry'. You both make it fun.
I wish your videos were available 15 years ago when I started riding off road! Thanks!!
Second best time to plant a tree is today!
That 10 episodes series is a brilliant idea! I am stuck in snow right now burt I cant wait to start practicing... Thanks a million!
Absolutely priceless!
Both very informative and highly entertaining (the dynamics between you and Mark are quite something 😆)
You truly inspire me to dedicate time for technical practices, can't thank you enough for that.

Awesome Rich! Need you to come out to Jersey for some lessons in the pine barrens. Happy New Year Brother!!
Happy new year! I do have a plan for a Jersey trip soon!!
You'd sell out in minutes. I can name about 10 guys off the top of my head that would sign up in an instant.
Love these videos!! Great series. Very helpful thank you
Glad you like them! Thanks for the support!
Mark had me rollin!😂😂. Another dialed vid! Thanks guys
It gets better at the series goes on!!
These are pretty great. Learning up here in Midway already way better than I should be at 1 month.

Thank you, I did a session in the front yard with snow, Lots more practice is needed on my end, love it!!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to explain the basics

Awesome teaching and fantastic mindset fella. Respect from the UK. Keep doing what you're doing.
These are so good, love watching someone try it as well, helps to understand the challenges.
Awesome tips and made fun with Marc and Rich...
Thank you!
Rich, you are the absolute BEST teacher by far! I also love your passion and I really get a kick out of your laugh. Wish I could ride with you! Oh, love Roamer too!

These tutorials are just awesome...many, many thanks 😊
Glad you like them! Thanks for the support!!
You’re awesome Rich! Many thanks for sharing with us brilliant lessons ❤
I have been taking notes and plan to go out and practice your techniques soon. Thanks!!
These episodes are gold. You’re a great instructor. Thank you.
Appreciate that!!
Mark did great!!!! Thanks for this one!
Marcs the Man!
Enjoying the series, utilised some of your teachings out on a track today and was better for it, thanks!
I am really enjoying this, lots of drills to build my confidence. Thanks!!
Thanks for this amazing series, great to practice along... Ieep riding 👊🏾✊🏾

Just got snow as well here in Utah! Time for Garage training! Thanks for watching!
This is a beautiful series for a beginner like me... Thank you so much... Learning a lot from the videos.... Step by step is helping a lot 👍
Thanks for this. As a short rider on a 1250GSA it gives me so much to work toward on balance practice.
Glad you are enjoying them!
Thanks for doing this series. These drills would be fun exercise time in the backyard. And excellent practice. I have uphill/downhill areas that I can use to make different variations.
Thank you very much for your video, congratulations again for your series, you help us a lot to improve.
Good idea to mic Mark up so that we can hear him better. The banter between you guys is fun to watch
You oughta hear our phone calls 🤣 thanks for watching!
Really good stuff, thank you!
Top video Rich and props to Mark and Trail dog 😂😍love your vids... A fan from South Africa

Love it!! Greta idea with the rope! Thanks for watching and the support!!
Thank you, again! Just keeps getting better!😎👌👍
Oh, and love the dogs cameo
Rome is the man! 🐶 he’s heavy in the rest of the episodes!
This is great stuff guys. Awesome, thankyou
Thank you!!
This is money, I'm adding that step over move into my static balance practice 🚀

Thank you for doing these vids. Huge help!
Glad to help! Thanks for watching
Grazie...spiegazioni molto belle ed esercizi utili per migliorare il controllo della moto...sei molto bravo come pilota e come insegnante...👍
These vids are amazing, thankyou for showing us this valuable knowledge.
Thanks for watching!! 🙌
always learning always improving..
This drill is great also for safety, getting off the bike quickly is the best way to avoid getting hurt , will try this for sure
Completely agree! Thanks for watching!
thanks a lot for sharing all your videos....for me as a beguiner have no price, love your dog....🙌✊🙂

Thank you for sharing!! I hope Marc is ready for the cliffs! 😂
Thank you for these vids
Thank you!
Awesome, you have to add an eleventh video, one minute videos of all ten vids for practicing.
Great idea!
These are truly great and so helpful! I’m doing some of these on my Africa Twin, and some other ones on my CT125 first and then moving up to the ATAS…simply b/c it’s too freakin heavy.

I'm a 54 year old Ozzie and I feel what you are teaching here is incredible.
And you guys are sooo fucking funny.....bonus.
Thanks heaps.
Mark
Very much appreciated Mark! Pumped you are enjoying the videos!
Oh and another thing....
That whole little spiel about moving out of your comfort zone in the cycle example was brilliant
Excellent. We do this counter lean of bike with snow biking
Thanks for putting out a quality product. Much appreciated. Gotta go…. Back to my practices.
🙌🙌
Im a bit late 😂. Less goo rich larsen pumped the series is goin bro !!
Thanks so much for joining!
just going to call you Professor ..very good training aid ....cant wait to try with my xt 250
Thanks man! Appreciate the support! Hope it helps you!!
Holy cow. Rich put out a video on something I'm not terrible at! Now do it sideways on an incline!
That's exactly the way to master it! Thanks for watching!
love all your videos
Thanks for watching!
the scenery is amazing, looks like Mongolia
Wow it's sooo pleasant to try out your drills and realize I can do them with ease :) The years of practice pay off 😁
Btw it would be really interesting if you could not only show the basic drill but also its advanced and even extreme level for more experienced riders. For example for the previous clutch control drill, advanced level would be going up and down with front wheel in the air, and extreme level would be having both feet on the pegs... 😉
Rich, all your content and this series in particular is awesome! I started with the"indoor" drills first, as all tracks are closed during winter. Haha thanks for watching! Please share with your friends after you’ve got them dialed 😂
Nice video! I can see how this would improve static balance and clutch/throttle control 👍
That was the plan!! Thanks for watching!
Great stuff! Love your videos! The audio volume seems a bit low though. Thanks again! Keep on shredding 🤙
Looks fun
Another great video, I'm about the same height as Mark and when I fall in the middle of a downhill I have a hard time getting back on the bike because I'm short and the sit is higher, I'm going to start practicing getting on the bike stepping on the pegs, thank you for the information.
Love hearing that! I hope the drills help!
Same here, my bike seat is 4" higher than my inseam, makes a lot of stuff more challenging, means the basic stuff is all the more important.
Do these drills with electric?
Love the videos! I’ll be practicing on a supermoto… one thing tho: I noticed the volume fades as you turn to your right. Maybe adjust the mic to the center, and lower if it’s too loud on the collar.
It is super hard and I did it! Thank you for this series! I know I’m improving.
Love hearing that!!

It’s a great tool for shorter riders!
thanks for all the content provided and this series in particular, you have been #1 enduro coach worldwide with no competition for some years, I completed EP 1 & 2 exercises here in Poland - they are well suited for winter time, have one basic question regarding foot placement, you say "balls of both feet on the pegs", what about reaching rear brake in this stance?
Thanks so much man!! I hope to get to Poland one day soon! I personally move to the rear brake when needed. I move my toes to cover the rear, then back to the balls of my feet for any obstacle.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto All clear now :) I developed a habit of riding "mid-foot", so I need to change it. You are welcome to Poland, of course
you’re Amazing

I've been getting on and off my 500exc, 690 enduro and 890 adv r thus way for quite a while. I'm too short to swing my leg over. @@onthethrottle7104 not that day. Now I always do.

Yeah gotta keep it fun (and break balls a little) lol

Still on week one lol
Keep working!!
