Under the Eleventh Five Year Plan of India (2007-12)
The Ministry of Railways started constructing a new Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) in two long routes
1. Eastern dedicated freight corridors {EDFC}
2. Western dedicated freight corridors {WDFC}
EDFC :-
The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor
Start From Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal
Total length:- 1873 KM
Note:- 56% complete
WDFC :-
Western Dedicated Freight Corridor
Start from Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai (Maharashtra) to Dadri in Uttar Pradesh
Total length:-1504 KM
Note :- 60% Complete
Budget of 2021-22 announced
1.East West DFC :- 2000 KM
2.North South DFC :- 975 KM
3.East Coast DFC :- 1115 KM
4.Southern DFC :- 892 KM
Now total length of dfc is 8359 km.

Western Dedicated Freight Corridor is a 1,506 km long stretch. It majorly connects Rajsthan, Gujarat and Haryana (States of India)
Initial idea was to improve Freight traffic cause elsewise we have mixed traffic in railway.

From the video, I can see that WAG12s are a flop as they are not being used to their full capacity. WAG9s are so much better and we could have produced more of those.

They are not a flop.They are used on multiple routes throughout India including IR routes and they are till date not being produced in the same capacity as WAG9s that's why you don't see WAG12's so casually.But yeah they are very useful when it comes to power hauling.
