It's all about environment, quality of education, and most importantly parenting. I grew up in a lower middle-class black and Hispanic neighborhood. My friends would make fun of me and call me a white girl because I spoke proper English. But they didn't realize that I had a mom at home who would literally slap me in the face every time I spoke improper English. She'd say "I don't care how your friends talk, these white folks are not going to hire you speaking like that!"
