    A little tip, when shooting bunkers, there’s a specific bunker type that may make you regret ever having your sights on it in the first place. Its called the howitzer bunker. It looks like an artillery piece on a concrete bunker. If you shoot the bunker it’s connected to within its firing arc, you’ll be far more afraid than it’ll ever be. Why? Simple. It fires back. Howitzer shells. Which have a big AOE. But they aren’t 100% accurate. Regardless though, just be careful.

    • @bigglasses2625
      @bigglasses2625 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Excuse me but when you say “it fires back” does it do that automatically? I’m thinking of buying this game but haven’t yet.

    • @infinitekarma4949
      @infinitekarma4949 3 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      @@bigglasses2625 Yes. AI defenses within the game will fire at you automatically. The howitzer bunker is the only AI defense in that game that will not shoot you at you though until you damage it. It’s solely reactive. But every other defense will shoot at you regardless if you get too close to them. Some defenses are a little of both though. They’ll fire at you if you get too close and if you fire at it.

    I don’t recommend using any mortar shells on vehicles unless if they aren’t armored(i.e. trucks, LUVs, motorbikes, etc.). Though, if you’re using a mortar with standard shells, only shoot vehicles if they seem to be of importance. An example would be the fuel tanker that was supplying the battle tank earlier at 2:49. Fuel tankers are a good target to shoot whenever there are tanks nearby. Though, to be fair, they could always just recover the diesel if they actually need it. Bases tend to have fuel, but that may not always be the case. Also, when shooting infantry. Please. Please. Please. Do not waste standard shells on infantry. It may not be a huge deal. But from a logistical perspective, it can literally hurt. Standard shells in specific are the most expensive shell out of them all. For all you new players, refined materials (more commonly referred to as rmats) and heavy explosive materials (hemats) are the two most expensive materials in the game. Other than cement. But that’s another topic in itself. If and when you can, always try to recover mortar tubes and standard shells. A little side note with recovering loot, it is always a good idea to recover and scavenge what you can from corpses. But there are certain things you should really look out for in specific. To name a few, mortars, RPGs, storm rifles, LMGs, MGs, etc. These are expensive weapons that cost RMATs. If you’re curious as to how expensive they are exactly, do logistics for a day or two. Go to a components field in a back line region. Get a truck full of components. Return back to a logistics hub. Start refining all your materials. You’ll notice that for components and sulfur in specific, they both have 20:1 refine ratios. Meaning, 20 components refined into a single rmat. And 20 sulfur refines into a single hemat. Your output is only 1/20 of your input. Now, I don’t remember the actual cost of some of the crates for things. But if you were to take a look in a factory, you would see how much a few crates of things cost. Now, it may not seem as big of a deal as I’m making it. Especially when you use the MPF(mass production factory, which reduces the cost of every extra crate after a certain amount). But if you wish to not piss off any logi vets and help your team, be conservative with your gear. This goes for a lot of things. If you wanna know what’s worth saving and what isn’t on a front line, just ask others around and gain their input. Not everyone will always say the same thing.

      So if I wanted to organize a massive artillery barrage for an offensive I would need a lot of planning and a big stockpile of resources for it (which is true even in real life) by your professional estimate how much should I stockpile and which munitions should I use that are the most cost effective?

    • @Elitevirus

      Came here to specifically ask if I should shoot tanks with mortars. Thanks for the tip! Any reason why not? Are they just too weak to do significant damage?

    • @ChemySh
      @ChemySh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dionwoollaston5717 shiiiiet, I was in an arty crew that defended Westgate yesterday until the Collies calmed down, we must've went through 10-15 trucks for one howitzer. That'd be 150-225 shells. But honestly, not enough shells/arty is better than none at all. Beats rushing bunkers with mammons at least.
      If you're the attacker, your main blocker would be AI bunkers, so stock up on normal shells because frag shells is less effective against buildings.
      Frag shells can be useful but the risk of friendly fire may be too much considering your mates will be charging enemy lines (i.e where you're aiming at). Static targets like enemy bunkers won't matter for friendly fire because most players are smart enough to avoid it if they know there's an arty on the front (if they thought there's no friendly arty, mammon rushes will happen)

    I tried to shoot from a mortar, but it is extremely inaccurate at close range, there may be an inaccuracy of hitting from 7 to 10 to the side, an error in meters.
    At a distance of 80 meters there are no inaccuracies, but the projectile still flies randomly over the area. I have no idea how the enemy hits us so well with a mortar.

    • @ForTheOmnissiah
      @ForTheOmnissiah ปีที่แล้ว

      You fire a shot and see where it landed as opposed to intended target, then adjust distance and azimuth accordingly, then you're dead on. First shot is always a trial shot to test windage.

      The way it works now doing it solo is just wasteful. It takes so long to get binos out and see where you hit and effectively adjusting for wind is significantly harder. Doing mortar properly with a spotter is very accurate, however. They get to see the shot land and immediately adjust for wind.
