Solid advice. **Calls to action** are a red flag in any situation. Note that they all tell you to hit up someone on social media, or Google someone’s name. You loaded a video for entertainment or education, not a random assignment. **Sense of urgency** or **unexpected contact** are other key red flags.
Thank you Rob for this video. Your page is by far my favorite when it comes to finances. Most are filled with nothing but fake adds and scammers. I always fill Ike your content is honest and that you are truly trying to guide folks on this journey. Thank you again for what you do.
Thanks for the video. I realized years ago that there are way too many financial "experts" out there so I decided to follow just two: you and Dave Ramsey. I get an honest perspective from two different angles and then decide how I want to proceed. Thanks again. (message prepared and sent from an undisclosed location in Idaho)
I've reached out to these people on burner phones... effectively they want you to open a crypto account, make a wallet, load money into it, and then transfer the money into a joint crypto account they manage with you. I'm sure once they've gotten anything from you, they're gone.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. As a new TH-cam channel in the investment space, it's nice to know how to spot some of the scams that could be out there. Thank you.
One of the things I have noticed is the financial advisors in those TH-cam comments are almost always female with first/middle/last name but no location. and the commenters use excessively formal language.
I follow a number of different channels and sadly see this sort of stuff far too often 😒 I think it's good you took the time to share your comments with everyone Rob. 👍
These bots are all so obvious now that I notice ‘real’ people, don’t even reply to the bots. They don;t get any likes or dislikes - they are just ignored. They usually start with a general observation, then some apparent discourse between 1 and 2 people, and then someone mentions how they’ve done so well because of an advisor and then the entire comments section piles in to celebrate them. All within the space of maybe 5-10 minutes.
Thank you much for sharing Rob. Ever since Maydof (dont really care of the spelling, just the context) i tear and a passion to realign and try not to succumb to victim mindset, but strive hard for resilience thinking. With all due respect to those of whom actually suffered from that time due him, as an empath, i find what i can do with the remaining strength i have in that empathy to find all opportunity. Thank you for finding your attorney hat to provide us clarity Rob! I love it! We can beat these scammers by staying at that 1% above 50 basis points so we are the 51%! Joseph A.
Another tell of the scammer using the same channel Name/Profile picture is that the channel owner's name would be highlighted and the impostor's will not be.
One chick on here was dealing with the people going in the comment section pretending to be her and saying to contact that scam. But they went a step further and used A.I to replicate her and her voice. So it's getting worse they need a tool to give out to everyone to scan video/Voice/Pic to tell if it is A.I. And the company's need to find a way to scan for bots and A.I in chats and boot them.
These simulated personal referrals are being paid for by the financial service/advisor that they are promoting. There needs to be some way to report them to TH-cam and have them filtered out of all future comments. If they do not derive any traffic to their website from these referrals, they will stop paying for them. Problem solved...
Yeah, I checked a few of the advisors online and they did exist, had a legit websites that I checked the URL on, and they even had real FINRA numbers. It seems super sketchy to use bots, but they wouldn't be doing it if it didn't work. Still, TH-cam should really crack down on them.
Question: it looks like Rob's hiding the person who asked the question (a seemingly legitimate and innocuous question), rather than the person making the possibly-dubious advisor recommendation, is that correct? If so, that seems to be punishing an innocent inquirer to get to the (possible) wrong-doer. Or did I not see that correctly?
lol i think on your last video i saw a comment thread that totally did that line of "who would recommend". lol i just rolled my eyes. its so obviously a scam. but to be fair. maybe its not obvious to everyone! not everyone is savvy in spotting them. which is why i reocommend you purchase my 3 step prog...lol im kidding :D
Rob, If I had and Ohio State Football I would send it to you. My eldest is now about 5 years out from his PhD at U of Michigan.... so he and I always had to root for U of M. I enjoy your videos, and actually recommend them to people I know who don't much understand their IRAs or 401k, or the idea of planning for the future in regards to saving and long term investing. It amazes me how so many people do not want to read for information, but I have had some folks agree that your videos are a valuable resource for their financial education. (Although I am still mystified aa to how many people seem to be happy with their heads in the sand instead of actively seeking out a financial education. Everyone needs to be proactive in developing financial survival skills. thanks for your work.
i don't think those question ones are legitimate users asking. most likely they hack users who used vulnerable passwords and use their accounts thats why they may not be brand new accounts.
Rob, you close your videos with “leave a comment below and I’ll help you if I can” (or something like that) - that invitation kinda invites opportunity because you’re never in the comments despite that invitation.
We can block them but once they're gone, another one pops up within a few hours. They usually attack the regular videos more than the live stream videos.
I believe hiding is effectively blocking, except it isn't obvious to the spammer that they've been hidden so they may be slower to abandon that account and move on to the next one compared to if they suddenly couldn't comment at all.
2:16 I asked my insurance agent if there was a policy that would protect me incase of "Russian hackers" draining my accounts. They told me there wasn't. If you have any recommendations on policy that would protect against theft, I would appreciate a video.
Sorry you have to deal with this Rob. Someone posing as you tried to get me to call them in a reply to a comment I left. The put a phone number in their reply with the numbers separated by random characters. I just ignored it Thank You

Great idea to post this information. It can be a daunting task to stay ahead of all of the bogus comments.
Solid advice.

Rob, you seem to be really excited (and somehat annoyed) by all this. Have a great day. Thanks for the heads up.

One telltale sign of TH-cam spammers - all the comments in a thread were posted at exactly the same time.
And they comment back and forth to each other.
And they mention financial advisor names and say how great they are. Very annoying
@@noreenn6976 bots talking to bots.

Great to have this pointed out. It is something we all need to be aware of and careful about. Scams and scammers are everywhere.
Assume everything is a scam and never provide personal information to unsolicited requests or endorsements.

What the scammers are hoping is that people will check out your TH-cam channel, see that your real and make the jump that the scammer is you.

Great video idea!
All I can tell you is that Rumble seems to be much worse for these types of scams.

It's easy to spot. Hit play and that's it.
Just saying what others have. I see these very transparent scam bot replies all the time too. When it comes to money....TRUST NO ONE 😃

I always comment 'advisor so and so made me a Millionaire however I used to be a Billionaire!'

Funny that under this video about how to spot a scam is a YT ad that claims $18,500 per day in crypto arbitrage. LOL
How to spot a TH-cam scam in one step: step one open the TH-cam app.
My phone has been hacked and these people can hear me talking and they are connected to my internet these detectives use youtube to watch me
What about VMFXX for when BND is negative?

Are you any relation to the people that started the Berger 100 fund that ended up selling to Janus Henderson?
Instead of hiding them, can you block them from participating on your channel?

Thanks for this valuable information.
How about the charlatans who advertise with your channel? I have a free book for you!
IMHO The hat says it all.
Let's all chip in to get Rob an Ohio State Football. Lol.
The only time @Rob Berger replied my comment, it was a fake account. 🤣
I delete them as I see them
Hmmmmmm.... But how do we know that this video is actually you? Perhaps you're a simulation?😂
We are all living in a computer-generated simulation, so yes I think you’re right.
