I think your theory adds a lot to the lore of mega evolution without eliminating the popular view of megas being beyond a pokemon's final form. I personally can't wait to see if they touch on the ethics of mega evolution as a whole. Great vid!
Ever since the first video on unevolved megas, I've tried to think of ideas. I think there are two approaches to those: (1) more "conventional" megas of Pokemon with unexpected normal evolutions, and (2) megas that emphasize characteristics of Pokemon that were deemphasized or scrapped in the normal evolutions. With that in mind, here are some ideas: - Mega Larvesta. Remains Bug/Fire, but looks more like Slither Wing than Volcarona. Like both Larvesta and Slither Wing, it prefers physical attacks. - Mega Murkrow. Emphasizes the "witch" theme that was downplayed with Honchkrow. It's a fast special attacker. - Mega Crabrawler. Remains pure Fighting. Has a min-maxed stat distribution with Adaptability, similar to Mega Beedrill. - Mega Poliwhirl. It's Satoshi Tajiri's favorite Pokemon, so why not? Emphasizes the hypnosis theme.
Z-A is a legends game. The legends game we have now gives us a prompt to click in order to evolve. The same will probably be applied here. I can definitely see Dragonair and Scyther get a Mega Evolution.
I think they could easily implement this by giving us both a Pikachu mega and a Riachu one at the same time. Pikachu can be a bit more bulky maybe a bit like his older fatter design, retaining his speed, not too bulky but enough to take a few more hits than normal. Raichu can just be an absolute unit giving it the Gorachu look. They could give us the Mega Alolan form aswell so make it an Xform for Normal Raichu and then Y form for the Alolan one? They already gave Pikachi, Eevee and Meowth, all Pokémon that can still evolve, Gigantamax forms, you cpuld also include Duraladon in that now also.
That example with Salamence and Roaring Moon is exactly what I'm hoping for, Paradox Pokemon being forced into rapidly evolving into either a primal or cybernetic form. I think the limiting factor to unevolved Megas is Pokemon who didn't debut with an evolution with at least one gen between debut and evolution. Of course there would be exceptions like Scyther and Duraludon (possibly the other 3 pre-evolved gmaxes) but these are rare cases as the base form is already plenty strong (or a mascot).
I think megas being the cap is perfect. A 4th permanent stage would be too much. Megas are the answer to what if charizard evolved again, or what would mewthree look like. I like having the megas as a momentary break beyond the limit, without there actually being a higher stage that a pokemon could achieve. Instead of having mid stage megas, pokemon like Dragonair, absol, mawile could just have a branched evolution with or without a regional form.
To me, the only thing that makes the Mega Evolution that much coveted among the fans is that it's for special Pokemon with full potential. It's also addressed to Pokemon which are [in a sense] fan favorites, such as Lucario, Mewtwo, Blaziken, Charizard and Gardevoir. Ever since the Z Crystals have been introduced [with their Ultra aspect], Game Freak has somehow managed to make the game even fairer for all with all new mechanics. Mega Evolution is a gift and a curse altogether.
So in the legends arceus game there’s 2 clans based off the versions (diamond and pearl clan) along with the galaxy team. Well in this game there could be 2 clans based off the 2 versions as well so the X clan and the Y clan. Each clan would have their own respective Pokémon that are similar to the nobles in the other games but they are able to mega evolve. However their mega evolution is unstable and they can’t be called upon at will. This is where the new galaxy team comes to play. They figure out a way to harness mega evolution via stones which could explain why only certain Pokémon have the ability to mega evolve because during that time period only the ones they found to mega evolve; they made the stones for. It could also explain why charizard for instance has an X and a Y form along with Mewtwo because either both clans have their own charizard and Mewtwo or depending on the end game whatever clan you choose to support you make a mega stone for their respective clan.

I think I said it in a past comment, but you could make that Mega Evolution literaly unlocks the potential of some Pokemon who dont have a 3 level evolution, like Absol. You could say that in Charizard, it unlocks his form, but with Absol, after using it several times, it unlocks the posibility to evolve into a second stage evolution (and add a pre evolution), making Absol have an evolutionary line. And the Absolite would evolve to the next stage of Evolution so the Absol like will still have a final-stage Mega Evolution.

My theory is that Lugia will have a mega evolution that will be the correct type of water/flying. Legends Z-A will also change it's base type to water/flying because it would make sense.
@@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions The fact that is possible sickens me. I know you definitely mean it as a joke, but I'm sick of telling people that Lugia should NOT be a psychic type. @@justinn8541akaDrPokemon *Salt on the wound would be either the Psychic/Water type mega Lugia has Levitate or Aerilate as it's ability or Aeroblast gets changed into a Water type move!* Also while yeah the Water type works on Lugia, I don't see how Psychic necessarily doesn't. It's referred to a guardian of the sea, but being a guardian of something doesn't mean they have to wield it the way being a king or master does. Besides living and being the guardian of the sea, Lugia's shtick and really what's more often stated that it can do is have powerful control of the weather which isn't out of the realm for a Psychic/Flying type as Mewtwo did similar in the first movie. I believe it's stated that moved to the sea since it's the flutter of it's wings were too powerful, so it at one point wasn't associated with the sea at all. Most of all of Lugia's feats with water in the anime displayed it manipulating a nearby source of water rather then creating it itself unlike uses of water by pokemon in general, often with a psychic energy glow.
Lugia just likes to live underwater. That's it. There is no "correction" for any Pokemon type, bro. Making him a Water/Flying would fuck him up lore wise, since the guy is supposed to have psychic powers. And someone who doesn't like the fact he isn't water would freak out if the winged dude stopped being flying to become Water/Psychic.
@@DracoMonge They literally choose the psychic type to make it feel more powerful. That is the only reason. Takeshi Shudo, the creator of Lugia, was created to symbolize OCEAN CURRENTS. Shigeki Morimoto MADE LUGIA INTO A PSYCHIC TYPE INSTEAD OF A WATER TYPE. Lugia has a basis on Ryujin, a shito god of the SEA. How is water/flying, not the correct type. If Lugia's psychic type makes sense, then Kyogre should be psychic type because it's the Pokemon God of the Ocean. If Kyogre being psychic type doesn't make sense, then why does it make sense on Lugia? There are no evidence to support it's psychic type except for the literal programers saying they did it because psychic types were powerful in gen 1 and we want Lugia to feel powerful.

they won't fix the mega evolution problem. All they did was give most of them to overpowered and fan favorites. Which is why I don't think it is a good gimmick. And it will remain limited to a certain number because it is impossible to give every pokemon mega evolution. Mega evolution won't be given to middle stages. It doesn't make sense to.

There are no evidence to support it's psychic type except for the literal programers saying they did it because psychic types were powerful in gen 1 and we want Lugia to feel powerful.

yo ass is not first..
they won't fix the mega evolution problem. All they did was give most of them to overpowered and fan favorites. Which is why I don't think it is a good gimmick. And it will remain limited to a certain number because it is impossible to give every pokemon mega evolution. Mega evolution won't be given to middle stages. It doesn't make sense to.
More than likely the will mega evolve single stage Pokemon like Halucha.
