This is why the likes of Luka don't get any credit cos all you people do is look at analytics.
It's like you've never played the game of basketball, this is why you keep putting Jokic as MVP favourite despite losing to the WIZARDS of all teams, great players don't lose to such a team.
If we are gonna use PER to judge players then keep giving him MVP.
Not a Ja Morant who literally his presence pushed them 2nd seed where they're no where to be found last year.
Not Donovan Mitchell helping the cavs.
      Not SGA helping OKC
Not James Harden not having Kawhi but is ahead of Jokic in seeding
Not Rockets from nowhere to 3rd seed
Even KD being 11-2 whilst Suns is 1-9 without him despite having multiple allstars of decent age, prime ages on his team.

I gotta disagree on Bill Walton, based on a lot of what I've heard, that acquisition was seen as a gamble by Boston, Walton had such a bad history with injuries that many thought he was at the end of his road before Red Auerbach signed him. I'd say more of a gamble/risk that paid off rather than unfair, Walton was well past his prime by then. He even described himself as a "Broken down old warhorse" in his HoF Speech when he signed with the Celtics.

  • @bobbywinstead1

Walton was playing on one leg amd had higher injury risk than almost anyone in the NBA, and the numbers showed it. And it was at a position that the Celtics didn't need help at....even Bird could play PF when needed. They drafted Len Bias (who died shortly after) a month later - most people were comparing him to a bigger version of Michael Jordan at the time. That team would have been up there with the Bulls and KD Warriors.

The worst one in NBA history was Magic going to the Lakers. The Lakers had decided to let Gail Goodrich go to free agency years before. Goodrich signed with the Jazz and neither Goodrich, or the Jazz violated any rules. The commissioner stepped in and forced the Jazz to give the Lakers compensation. The weird thing is that it wasn't a flat out decree. The Jazz and the commissioner had to negotiate the compensation. The Jazz ended up compensating the first pick in the 79 draft which turned out to be Magic Johnson, to the Lakers. One of the dirtiest moves that the NBA has pulled off (and there is a long list of things to chose from).
Also, I think that you could have mentioned Chris Paul going to the Clippers. The Lakers made a trade for Chris Paul first that the commissioner stepped on for "Basketball reasons". His explanation went on to say that the Lakers didn't put together a good enough package. Then the Clippers made a worse deal with the Pelicans and Chris Paul joined DJ and Blake Griffen. This made them a championship contender for the first time in decades. Hell it was probably their greatest team ever. David Stern's e mails got leaked and in one of the e mails the Cavs owner was complaining about the trade to David Stern. Since the ownership of the Pelicans was so inept the NBA was partially controlling the Pelicans. It's never been proven, but whether there was an actual threat, or David Stern being a business lawyer had influenced Stern to revoke the trade from the Lakers, there was a potential with the NBA having partial control over the Pelicans that could have left an opening for one of the owners, or multiple owners suing the league in an anti-trust case.

Payton the year before joining LA also only played 28 games. If you count this trade then you also need to count Shaq still much younger than Malone at 33 and fresh out of the previous finals joining Miami which ended up winning the title! Lebron and Bosh joining DWade in Miami by far out ranks Malone & Payton joining LA, because ALL 3 of them are in their prime and top 10 players or even top 5 in the league! not necessarily take away some because the first ring of MJ was agaist Magic and to be fair, he doesn't even have Byron Scott and Kareem to work with. as for Larry, he nears his back-end (no puns intended) of his prime, and his supporting casts were getting older too. so yes, maybe not take some, but still, make the league more interesting as other younger teams at that point (Rockets, Magic, Blazers, Sonics, Jazz) start to rise

Not that Steph isn't amazing like he is, or KD isn't a monster it was just a non-competitive way to go about it. The Cleveland GSW rival got destroyed because of that and we'll never truly know who is better... Lebron or Curry. They have similar ring totals, but it poses the question would they have been able to do that without KD on GS end. Would Lebron have 6. That just destroyed the rivalry.

Also, that Dwight Howard trade was shady. The 76ers cut ties with Andre Igoudala who was playing at an all star level to pick up Andrew Bynum and everyone in the world knew that Bynum's knees were busted and that's why they were willing to make a trade for Howard even with a bad back. The one season where Bynum's knees were still good and his progression as a player overlapped he was an all star. He was younger than Dwight Howard. Shaq said Bynum was the best center in the league. Something had to have been going on in Philly for them to make that trade.

Don’t hate the guy, but I’m also not a huge fan. He’s one of the greatest players of all time, but the guy is so fundamentally different form Kobe, so it’s been hard for us to embrace him in LA.
Honestly, I see myself as a pretty neutral person on LeBron. On one hand, I can’t stand LeBron simps who act like everything he does is amazing, and he needs to be in every top 10 ever created. On the other hand, I can’t stand the haters who find EVERY OPPORTUNITY to spin everything he does into some kind of negative…. That’s childish to me. Like you can hate the guy all you want, but stop acting like he’s just trash at the game, because we all know that isn’t true.

Harden had the Nets and obviously they were talented and elite enough yet they fumbled due to circumstances that were more in their control rather than not.

I really don’t think Bill was unfair. It was a completely reasonable trade, and Bill was FAR from 1977 or 1978, where even at that point, he ALREADY had a history of injury and missing games. By 1985, he significantly waned from where he was during his peak, had an even riskier injury profile at that point, and could have reasonably been retired before that (which I believe he did retire after this point). And Boston was just amazing, they weren’t the absolute best and adding a KD.
I think this was a strong trade, but not something unfair
