yeah he's like old school media where they actually wrote the script out beforehand and edited it so that they were only telling you what you needed to know
Well sir! You have way more cajones than me that’s for sure! This was really cool! I’m not going into these kinds of temps without my 8lb 4 season tent, -20 bag and MSR white gas stove. 🥶🥶 Thank you for this and I don’t know how you made it through the night without dinner! Take care. NQU
So am I just a girl like you just put it. I started camping when I was only 10 years old.. and I've been doing it it ever since in and out of camping and homeless more than once.. don't underestimate yourself just try it even if you put the tent in the backyard
Hello from Oklahoma! Interesting video! Loved it! Being an old man, I don't do this type of camping anymore. The equipment improvements since the 70's have to help. Although I do Have one of the original Therma rest mattresses. Loved your idea for the snow shelter. Thanks for jarring loose some memory's. Thanks for all You Do! God Bless!
Beautiful outdoor vacation in nature. Cold weather and lots of snow. Sleep in a shelter and listen to the sounds of nature and the crackling fire creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Nice. Ive made a snow shelters here in Alaska when the weather took an unexpected turn. Works, ive used a thick Spruce bough to prevent conduction. Ive used candles to heat up my shelters. Gotta have a vent hole and I stuck the candle inside of a small can of shortening to keep it burning for hours. The temps were very low but inside it seemed like it was 50 degrees with -30F temps
Out of all the bushcraft videos I watch and all the shelters that go with them, I find frozen shelters, snow caves, igloos, quinzees and such, the most interesting and intriguing.
It's 9 degrees where I am in NE. Also snowing for the next two days. I am in my ward bed, electric blanket and window open vibes. I like to hear the wind. That said, I cannot imagine this! Still enjoyed the video ❤
We had snow down here in south Georgia a week and a half ago that we NEVER have. We may have a few flurries but nothing like we had a few days ago. We got 4 inches. It stayed for several days and all the kids had fun but us parents and grandparents had to live through the bad parts of snow that an area is NOT prepared for. People don't realize how much snow can blind you! All in all, most people made it through ok. There were the usual fender benders and people getting stuck in the snow but other than that no one froze to death thank goodness. I have always wanted to camp in the snow and would have the other day but I was talked out of it by my wife. She was scared that I would curl up in the tent and not wake up. She knows I sleep hard when I get warm... 🤣 Great video! Good luck on your next adventure from south Georgia! BK
Dangerous camping glad you made it look easy cause it's not. Enjoyed the show very well made. Stay warm my friend on your next venture. 65' F/ 18' C here. God Bless. NW ga.
This is such an excellent experiment. Glad you stayed safe! And I am VERY proud of you choosing to only use dead threes. Very environmentally friendly and reasonable.
Love these snow camping videos, makes me really appreciate the lowest recorded temp where I live is 11.4C/52.5F. (Edit: Highest recorded was 49.5C/121.1F) I would have died getting out of your vehicle. 🤣
Greeting from Latvia, enjoing your channel. It is interesting to observe, that winters become more warm here bearing in mind, that PA is located more on south.
Whole new meaning to the expression chill.. LOL😂😂.. we used to do stuff like that when I was a kid you're right they are warmer on the inside then it was on the outside.. we were making cute little lean to shelters.. I started camping when I was only 10 years old.. after the death of my father.. I guess we was driving my grandmother nuts..mom lost a husband I lost a dad.. and my grandmother she threw a bunch of water jugs at us one day ..she kept saying he is dead there's not a damn thing you can do about it ..go get me some spring water ..go hiking go camping go fishing.. and then she realized what she said..lol ha ha ha.. but that is how we found our campsite and then asked the local farmer if he was doing anything with the property he said no and he even cut a small patch for us.. it exploded afterwards for the camping and bushcrafting
camping isn't something i enjoy, i get quite bored and miss the comfort of my electric blanket and slippers....but i absolutely love watching this guys videos. will sit with them on autoplay all day but wont step foot inside a tent lol
- 17:10 You should test all of the Mountain packs you *THOUGHT* you liked outdoors, indoors && see if you feel the same. 😅 Like you said, cardboard with ketchup would be tasty.
I''ve watched your short videos for years, did not know you made long-form videos as well. Not sure why YT put this in my feed, but good call. All the skills you have should be taught in school. I saw a couple of videos recently about folks who went out for an "adventure," were completely unprepared for the conditions and had to be rescued. Too bad they hadn't seen your channel first!
Little military trick for cold weather is to where fishnet base layers, it makes pockets under your warming layers to allow sweat to evaporate keeping your warmer due to the sweat not making your skin wet as long. Also you should try cooking rocks in the fire pit, and bringing them inside the shelter to allow the heat to melt snow along the roof, this thin melted snow makes a better insulation layer making the shelter stronger and warmer!
You just got a subsriber. Finally a camping video with real camp food. Most channels half the video is them trying to be Chef Ramsay in the woods. If I wanted that I would just watch a cooking channel.
So far we got 1/2 inch of very dry snow. And today at the beginning of February I walked across the driveway in just a tee shirt and sweat pants. Much warmer than this time last year.
35 degrees Celsius today, coldest it’s been is -7 degrees Celsius. So I’m struggling to imagine the conditions you’re in. A little shocked you didn’t have dinner after all that snow shovelling!
I found a trick for keeping batteries charged while the temps were that cold here in PA. I used hot hands under my devices on a small hiking table. Kept them warm enough so it didn’t drain fast.
How the Indigenous people of Canada and parts of the United States made shelters to keep warm in the winter is amazing. Igloos made by the Inuit in Alaska, and the territories of Arctic Canada, were quite warm, because of how snow is so good as an insulator. This was awesome. Cheers!

Empty can of shortening? You mean the can was just preventing the candle from being blown out?
