- It was a very cold cabin night in the Northwest Territories, and Jay Legere was soaking up all of the freezing beauty. He's fixing things, stocking up on splits, making delicious food, putting the rafters on the extension of his cabin, and hanging out with the best dog out there.
Your dog is so darn cute. Enjoy watching Puffy. What a great dog and what a great owner you are.
Thank U for these videos! My son is homeschooled so I use them as part of his learning
Jay, a little tip for when that pilot gunks up in the future: if you go to a smoke shop or drug store with pipe smoking supplies they will sell actual chenille pipe cleaners. Don’t get a craft store one, those are polyester and don’t work as well. The steel wire is there for that specific reason. You also can take a set of wire cutters and cut off the dirty portion and keep using the same cleaner for a long time.
Thanks!😊😊😊
Excellent tip.
Jay love this channel because of all the good tips and tricks.
Fireplace service guy for years, yep. Great advice.
Thank you for this great tip
Puffy is like a little pocket rocket, allways at full speed, love the little guy !!
He reminds me of the 'Pocket Rocket Richard' of the Montreal Canadians, minus the skates...lol!
I tuned in for Jay......I stay for Puffy! Love both you guys!
I am loving the regularity of these videos, Jay! You're by far my favourite winter life TH-camrs. Sending well wishes from the UK!
Everything has been dialed in since you went full time and we can see the effort and the results Jay!
That little Puffmiester is a fast one! Zoom Zoom Zoom. I love that little guy!🐶🐶🐶🐾🐾🐾
Puffy is beyond adorable. His little face🥰
Puffy seems to having the time of his life in the snow 😀🇨🇦
The Puff is absolutely magic - expressive, affectionate, joyful, and utterly cute. WE came for Jay, we stayed for The Puff. thanks for a lovely video. and exciting about the new living room.
That dog has boundless Zoomies, the same as my Saint Berner. The energy some dogs expend towards us is so lovely.
I love seeing your little co-star Puffy. He's such a cute little thing.
Not a single human can compete with any Puffy of the world 😘
Love the videos. A little tip (from a veterinarian). Careful with fatty pork and your pup. You may get away with it many times but pancreatitis is something you don’t want to deal with out in the middle of nowhere. Very common with small dogs and fatty meats. Stick to lean pork, chicken, turkey or lean beef.
Agreed!
Thanks so much for bringing Puffy along! Can't wait for the next installment!
I hope this doesnt sound too ridiculous but I just love watching your videos - especially in the winter when i am freezing my butt off in my flat - lol, and with the cost of living crisis and things getting tougher - self reliance , hard work and wisdom must overcome !! thanks Jay - love your content , you inspire me to get up and get stuff done !!
Oh man, the star of the show , PUFFY !!! The absolute cutest and he reminds my wife and I of our lab, same exact personality, huge love bunny !!! ❤
Great work Jay, keep it up 👍
Looking good Jay. You should consider flashing those upper windows when you put up the roof as they look like they'll be close to even with the roof at the bottom. This will potentially be a source of water penetration into the wall below the windows. If you could raise those windows to give you a 6" min space from the roof, that would be better.
Well he did mention in a past video, that one of those top windows was cracked due to settling from the structure and from having been placed in a too tight frame out with no room for shims, so this is a perfect excuse to get a new set of windows and add flashing clearance to the expansion.
Your addition is coming along nicely. And I love when you bring Puffy with you. He is such a cute little guy what’s. Great companion for you at the cabin.
Looking good !! Puffy's full blast runs make me smile every time😆
The happiest dog in the world.
Love all your videos and by adding Puffy is a pure bonus!🥰
Great video. Love seeing Puffy. What a sweet happy pup. 😊
Puffy is so great! What a wonderful addition to an already very enjoyable channel. Much love from the other frozen tundra of Minnesota.
Gotta love Jay Sundays…and Wednesdays! I am truly invested in this channel…thank you for sharing your adventures!
Don't forget the in line filter when using a "bulk" tank for your buddy heater...........very important!! Great video as always.
Love your videos...sharing the good and the mistakes. I tune in every week and absolutely LOVE when Puffy is with you!
You know that your TH-cam channel is doing well when the peeps say it ended so soon! Congrats Jay, you have a great face and personality with a sidekick to boot. Way to be yourself and successful too. ❣️🍀
Thanks so much. I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel
I love watching you solve your challenges! You rock Jay!! But you have competition now! Puffy is stealing our hearts 💕💕💕 He is an absolute star ⭐️. Your progress on the addition is looking great. I can’t wait to see more.
Great progress and Puffy is a cute little tough guy!
I can’t believe puffy isint cold. Tough little dog….and you Jay,how you keep working in that cold amazes me….be safe…..
Puffy is sweetie. Perfect cabin dog. My older brothers had a standard size Dachshund Fritz was a busy body. He loved loons. Can't wait to see the next video.
Puffy adds a lot to your videos! He’s adorable! ❤
I wonder who's having more fun Puffy or Jay! Keep it up! We all need every positive emotion in today's world. Thank you,Jay!
So exciting to see the addition coming together 👍
Puffy is the best boy 🐶💙
I need to go to sleep but Puffy’s here. I can wait a little longer.
Agreed!👍 🐶💙
I know right! I’m thinking the same thing!! 🤗
Jay! I saw bright light at 9:20-22 was that a meteor?? Love seeing Puffy. He’s so cute and I bet good company for you!
You’re doing a great job with your addition Jay! When you were splitting all that kindling it reminded me of the old timer men I grew up around . They would spend what seemed to be days out at their spitting block getting their kindling ready for the following winter. They have like a cord of wood all made into kindling. Crazy but a very smart thing to do. I wish I would’ve paid more attention to the old guys. They were a wealth of knowledge.
Putting your food in the fridge, to warm it up 😂😂😂wish I had a fraction of Puffies energy. Great video Jay.
Puffy sure is a fast runner and a nice addition to your youtube channel eah. Definitely enjoy watching the progress of your cabin extension build.
Love your attention to details and trying things you get from others. Fur baby is so sweet. Great video as is said short but sweet.
16:55 two inch drop is not gonna work as well as you think. The smarter move is to put a double 2x6 beam on the section up against the cabin and pitch the rafters to just under the top windows and land them on the front wall with the windows. This will shed water away from cabin, and allow the snow to slide off when the roof deck gets warm enough to melt it.
Puffy is a miniature Seabiscuit! Lightning fast! Cheers from Boston Massachusetts.
He is pretty quick!
Your addition is looking great Jay. What a friend you have in Puffy. Looking forward to your next video.
Absolutely fantastic video Puffy enjoy herself at the Cabin with Jay enjoy watching your Cabin videos. 👏👍
That little Puffy is the cutest little fellah! He's sooooo happy as long as he's with his Papa Jay! :)
We ❤ Puffy 😊!! As for the buddy heater, store it in warm truck and warm home. I’ve had mine for over a decade, and never had a problem. I think that’s because I keep it in a warm environment.
It makes sense because in the frigid weather it will form condensation in the system and cause major problems
The thumbnail showing an overhead view of the cabin, with the rafters lined up... WOW!!
Puffy is a beast!🇨🇦♥️
Yep
Great progress on the extension Jay! Puffy loves to run for sure!
What a beautiful spot your cabin is in, Jay! My Dad lived in NWT for several years in the 50's. He worked on the DEW line. He absolutely loved it up there. He wanted to live there permanently but an illness sent him back to Ontario. Luckily, for me; he met my Mom when he was in the hospital (she was a nurse) He never stopped talking about the people, the rugged landscape and crazy weather! I think about him every time I watch your wonderful videos! Thanks for sharing your adventures and that wonderful pup, Puffy, with us!
My Uncle lived in Yellowknife 20+ years working in a mine, but returned to Ontario to die in a mining accident in a gold mine along with of his 2 partners in a ground fall.
Thank you for a nice video. Puffy is doing wonderful at the cabin. Stays very close and doesn’t run off. Take care
The biggest issue I see is the snow on the addition roof will pile up against the upper windows, as the snow melts you may get leakage around the upper windows. Looking good though.
I guess the whole roof will fail in the winter with the snow on top and the addition being heated the pitch is not enough.. ..
The next problem would be capillary action if he goes with a tin roof.
It doesn't look like there's enough room for roof sheathing, roof, and any flashing under those windows, especially with insufficient pitch on the roof.
Also, no one with any sense uses screws to frame walls and roof.
That's what I just mentioned to him. If snow settles on his extension roof, it may leak into his windows.
What a great feeling it is to accomplish something yiu have never done before! Wonderful video Jay & Puffy!!
Puffy is amazing 👏 🤩 . Thanks for the video 👍👍👍
Yes this energetic little boy is very cute! I’m happy for you!
Puffy looks fine without a coat and boots on.
Hey Jay. I’m sitting here in Victoria, Australia watching you and Puffy living the dream in a frozen landscape. Man it’s day 5 of 100 degree Celsius days here stretching out as far as the forecast can predict.
Love watching your vids man. They give me a chance to see how the other half lives all the way around on the other side of the world, albeit 135 degree F cooler. Love your channel, love the vids. Cheers bloke.
Gees! I wish I had your temp...lol! Gotta a bit longer to go with our Canadian winter.
100 celsius?! Dude how have i not heard about that? You must be the only living human down there. Boiling point is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the highest ever recorded surface temp on earth. But i know what you meant, it gets above 40c here about 10-20 days a year and its absolutely brutal. Cheers from the other side of the world and opposite hemisphere!
Puffy is so awesome!! He’s perfect!
Puffy having a blast with space to run :) It's cold Jay hopefully you can get the plywood on before the rafters ice up ! Looking good my friend " Stay warm
What a beautiful dog love the wilderness and watching nature videos
Love watching your videos keep up the good work 👍
Bring the dog more often, makes my wife want to see you videos too ;)
Another great video Jay & Puffy. Stay safe up on those iceroads. ❄️⛄☃️
Lovely little doggo 💯
Jay those buddy heaters work amazing. I have the double burner and I use it in -35 weather to keep my bathroom warm when we are showering. If you’re having that much trouble, take it back to the retailer to have it exchanged for a new one.
Hope he sees this. I seem to remember he said it was a gift so it should be within warranty. Do you have to turn yours up full for the first wee while to get it going? Showing my age here but in the 70/80s we had to do that with a gas heater and wondered if maybe that’s the problem.
The only issue is that they’re a ‘moist’ heat.
Are you keeping your generator in the house when you leave? It’s got to be just a bit warmer in the house, which may make a lot of difference on a cold day.
Definitely run on high at light off until the radiant burner glows evenly before low setting.
Almost commented on how you treated Puffy so well with the best cut! But I realized I would've done the same for my "Puffy"! They give so much love, and want so little in return. Great vids Jay! I enjoy watching you and your adventures!
The content just keeps getting better. Thank you, Jay, your content is really helping my mental health.. I was in a rut of depression, and you've helped with kind words and some of the other viewers. Much love from Ireland
Love the videos Jay - keep er up buddy
A man and his dog getting it done. Awesome Jay one step closer.😁
You are awesome Jay! Love your content here. Canada is my dream to visit. Much love from Belgium!
Love Puffy. Keep up the good work.
Nothing says wilderness living like a man, his dog, and a cabin. Loved the video as always and good to see you enjoying yourself during construction!
Ce qui est cool, c est que ce n est pas une vidéo comme certains qui montrent plus la préparation du repas que ce qu'il se passe à l extérieur ! Respect !
Hi Jay thank you for another interesting video. It is so nice to see a happy dog having such a great time. I am a dog person and just love how everyone of them have a personality and express joy and love to have fun.
Thanks for sharing another wonderful video. Love Puffy and his energy ❤
Great work on your room addition 👏
Look forward to Wednesday's video
Great video, Jay and Puffy!! The extension is looking terrific and coming together fast! Puffy is a tough outdoor kind of guy - really likes the snow and cold running around - a great companion! 😀
Puffy is so adorable and Cute 🥰🥰
Jay, I'm so pleased about how the channel is progressing. I love your roll with it approach.
It truly is AMAZING.....Thanks Jay!
Love your puppy! And yes, he is so cute and well trained.
Keep learning from those who follow you on your channel, you are doing a fantastic job on your addition!
Great video Jay. Looking forward to the finish product of the cabin. Buy your self a can of air to use next time on your buddy heater on your pilot light. Thats what I do for the one I use at my cabin.
Your puppy is adorable. Just simply adorable.❤
Sorry that your Mr. Heater broke down after your fight with it (removing the cotton from that tiny hole). 😂
It is best to use a fuel filter so this way the adapter will catch and collect those particles. You can just remove it and take a dry paper towel to rub off the dirt.
Puffy is becoming a star Jay.
Yep
So beautiful.
The
Lights are incredible. Puffy is growing. Just awesome videos. Keep learning and producing
another great vid jay and the warming of the spark plug is a thing i used to do when my motorcycle would not start as for your building I'm learning with you great stuff
Jay another great video love watching you explore new ways to build the addition and of course puffy is important too cant go a video without seeing the puppy
getting there good job , and your dog is a great dog , thank you for sharing
Good video.
Your dog stole the show though😂😂.
Jay love and enjoy your videos. May the lord bless and protect you Jay working on the cabin.
I love the videos Jay awesome progress. You need a burn barrel outside that you can keep going when you’re working so you can go over and warm yourself up without going into the cabin.
I have the same Mr Buddy heater, but without issues of lighting. They are very good for heating up small spaces and I hope you can get your working properly. Watching you with the pup makes me want to adopt another dog, but health issues keep me from pulling the plug. All the best and good luck with heater.
Jay, you cutting the block of wood into smaller pieces at the 10:40 mark was so satisfying to watch. 🙂
Puffy is cuteness overload 😍
Wow the roof rafters look amazing. Great job Jay. Learning alot along the way!
Nice job Jay! Your building skills have grown by leaps and bounds. Can’t wait for your next video.
Your dog looks like a teddy bear, and that's a compliment ;-)
Cabin is looking good, tell puppy hey !
Puffy is gorgeous
Girl it's so exciting to watch you put everything together. Can't wait to see the end result when it's all said and done🎉
Puffy looks like a great friend!
