    As a kid I played this Civilization 2 scenario so much the map and colors of the armies were ingrained in my head, I never realized it was based on World War 1. It's so weird looking at it now knowing the history of World War 1, and the fact dark blue was my favorite to play.

    By far my favorite scenario. I beat it on Deity level many times. Great stuff.

      yeah there some nice ones in there i played alot of 20th century global. i got though world war 1 and two and then i renamed the Germans to Europeans and the British to Middle eastern, i renamed the chinese to asian allies. the League is Independent nations, the japanese , americans and russians are still in the game. the year is 1963 right now and im trying to get up to 1990. i started this scenario in 1913, it wanted to start in 1919 but i changed it to 1913 and then reset the boundaries, and in the period from 1913 to 1919 the germans got big but then i always reset the boundaries after the wars. so my history line chart looks roughly like what happened in real life. the Ente cordial the british and french were the largest but now as the middle eastern there the smallest. the europeans where much bigger in 1949 but now decolonisation is taking its toll as more countries join the independents as in real life. the canadieans and the australians are also part of independents too. so i played this thing for a few months to go this far in the game.

      I thought you were on about the european map for a second there, lol.
      The map of the british isles is very accurate, I can think of afew more scenarios for this map.
      It's a shame we couldn't script some events into the civ2 engine, this would open up some very interesting and deeper gameplay, like the map your playing for example.
      I would honestly put this game in my hall of fame, well ahead of it's time, and still is imo.

      Primegaming No i never could find the time to play though the Europe map. On the europe map the japanese are the Turks and Americans are neutral the Independents are the Spanish etc etc.

    This map really privileges northern Europe over southern Europe in geography, and Italy in particular is really sold short (it looks tiny on here!). Would be interesting to see a map built with more fidelity to reality.

    "Why is France Spain?!" *sees Spain... no Spain, "aha... Spain is France." :D I played the WW2 scenario so many times, and oddly enough never the WW1 one, that seeing this threw me through a loop--I thought something was wrong at first. Oooooo memories.

    Loved this scenario - I lost count of how many overdue essays I had at university because I was up late playing this!
    If you are interested, you can get this scenario and others at the Conflicts in Civilization link at Mercator's great site: civ2.mercator.fastmail.fm//files.html

    Civilization II was one of my all time favorite games but I only unlocked the wwii and Rome scenarios. How do you unlock the wwi scenario? Also are there any more unlockable scenarios or is that it?

    • @ArnoutVI
      @ArnoutVI 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there is no unlocking, some sites (civfanatics) have plenty that were created by players of that great game.
