My first time playing Civ2 was late at night. I didn't know there were any advisor clips until this bald headed guy made me jump in my seat screaming at me, "Give me more SOLDIERS, noble leader, that we may bury our swords in the beating hearts of our enemies!" I was hooked on Civ games from that moment.
The actor playing the military advisor gives the best performance, no matter what age. During the age of Henry VIII (the one with all the ex-wives): [advisor walks by, singing with a drunken voice]: "Let love and wine maintain their rights..." then he notices you and exclaims: "No complaints, Sire!" Well, anyone can guess how to keep your military advisor that happy.
Same with me, He told me to give him ships so I could: “WATCH THE SEAS TURN RED WITH BLOOD!” Then the Science Advisor told me we were “The Most Enlightened in the world!” Then Elvis asked to put luxuries, and the trade & science advisers said “I disagree!”
"Would you make peace with our enemies, lord? OR WOULD YOU STICK THEIR HEAD UPON A PIKE?!" I kinda wanna stick their head upon a pike. Sorry, Foreign Advisor.

@@levako05d IDK civ 6 is way different then civ 2. Its gotten better but more complicated. I still really prefer the 2d games to the new 3d ones where expanding and building more towns was key to winning. The new ones its less about expansion
+ClamDown Because like everybody else who ever played the game, you turned this annoying crap off. It's maybe entertaining the first time but not the 100th.
Of course they're annoying, they're advisers. :P Besides, I think they bring a lot of charm to the game, like how they change their looks and wording as you age up, how they interact with the other advisers. Say what you want but I think it's one of the most coolest parts of Civ II and I wish they could of bring it back in other Civ games. Like, I would actually give a damn about my advisers if the war adviser was constantly yelling "BUILD CITY WALLS!!" at me.
I bought Civ 2 for the first time when I was 10 years old. It was in a bargain bin at Walmart, and I had just gotten into the RTS genre by playing Age of Empires II and Starcraft, both relatively new at the time, and I was blown away by them. I had assumed from the pictures on the back of the box that Civ 2 would be similar. I brought it home and was extremely disappointed to see it wasn't an RTS, but essentially a top-down board game that was too complex for my stupid 10-year-old brain to want to understand. I tried playing a couple games of it, though - but I never did well. Didn't play a Civ game for real until Civ 4, as an adult. I saw these advisors in a recent video detailing the history of the Civ games, and it was an instant hit of nostalgia.
Indeed, and once you're thinking along those lines, it's not hard to hear suggestion in the way she says, "Perhaps I could persuade Your Excellency," particularly in the word "persuade." As a kid I never noticed it, but as an adult, I can't help but wonder just what kind of "persuasion" she had in mind. It adds a delightful new layer to my nostalgia!
I always felt sorry for the military adviser: I never paid any attention to him. Not until another civilization attacked me, and then I engaged in Total War!
The tragedy of Civ 2 is that you will always be disappointing the diplomacy advisor in Multiplayer gold and later as the AI does not like you (at all). It's literally not worth talking to them. Military guy will probably be happy though.
I want advisors like this back.
same here. after Civ2 they got slowly rid of more and more Presentation :( which was Civ2's strongest point
We need Elvis advisor back in our lives.

@finalcut75 I agree, but they were so corny and fun that I thought they were one of the best parts if civ 2, I wished they still existed

Joshua Gamingz There are 6
or they could just do a DLC that added that to 6

I can't imagine how much of a good time the actors must have had doing this. So much more fun than just doing voice-overs.
I would ask these guys about EVERY DESICION i'd have to make in life.
