    I respect how any of the athletes choose to deal with this and grieve what is disgusting is when CrossFit HQ are the ones to try to make it a tribute. They’re RESPONSIBLE. if they actually cared about the athletes and not just making money they would have had proper safety protocols in place and Lazar would be out on the competition floor right now.

    It’s very sad on the loss of Lazar, my prayers and condolences go out to his family.
    All this back and forth from us the spectators on rather the games should have been cancelled or continue needs to stop. The competitors made a decision collectively to continue. I respect those who with drew as well.
    From my perspective this what CrossFit is overcoming adversity overcoming pain, gaining strength and comfort through community. This is the number one reason why i started CrossFit back in 2010. It helped me through the loss of friends guys I called my brothers. This is why we have Hero WODs for situations like this. The games this weekend is just one big Hero WOD for them this weekend and they are doing it for Lazar.

      The decision to continue or not is on the athletes, and it’s easier in hindsight to know for sure if the decision was right or not. It’s a tough call either way I think.

    I can't quite wrap my head around everyone still trying to gain financially 1-2 days after a competitor died due to the incompetence of the crossfit organization. The games should've been postponed at a minimum. Everyone's favorite phrase is, "I think Lazar would want us to continue. ".... but I think Lazar wanted crossfit to protect all the competitors and provide aid in his ultimate time of need, but in the spirit of "The Games must go On!" The Crossfit organization didn't even try until the event was over!!! Shame on everybody still making money under the banner of "Its for Lazar!"

    • @mightymoo4018
      @mightymoo4018 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      What makes you think postponing was an option? There were TV contracts, sponsorship, spectators coming in from international travel. I get your point, but postponing is a whole lot easier said than done, especially when you have less than 12 hours to make a decision.
      As far as the athletes go, this is their livelihood. There are athletes who can afford to skip the Games but the majority can’t. This is their full-time job and a lot of them worked overtime, just to be able to qualify, don’t put this on the athletes as if they are greedy millionaires.

    I empathize deeply with the athletes and everyone who is heavily involved in CrossFit, especially when it forms such a significant part of their identity and livelihood. Making a decision about competing after Lazar’s passing must be incredibly difficult. However, it’s hard not to think that it could have been any one of them. How can they continue with the same intensity when the organization owes them a better explanation? I would be devastated. The phrase ‘it’s about community’ keeps coming up, but as a community, we need to hold those responsible accountable for their actions-or inactions. We all want to see the athletes succeed, and we love the CrossFit Games, but continuing like this feels inappropriate.

    I do understand all the grieving part, nevertheless, where is CrossFit taking full responsibility of the security and what happen?

    people should differentiate community from the organization. the crossfit community is loving people. the organization/ organizers HQ is the one at fault. competitors should not be blamed nor hated for continuing.
    i agree with tia claire. hate and blaming will not bring lazar back which is something he won’t like. doing tribute to him by doing what he like doing is proper.

    Why in the same sport, men wear long clothes, and women wear short clothes?

    At the beginning I thought it was good that things continued anyway. But I don't feel comfortable watching the games, it's just not the same for me as it was in previous years. I don't think it makes sense that one of the best athletes is out or unable to perform at his best because of this pain. Everyone deals with grief differently, but it doesn't look very healthy to me to watch these athletes grieve during such mentally and psychologically resilient workouts. to see them crying, to not show any emotions or to simply not be able to realize what just happened. It's hard, I feel very sorry

    Still holding out for CF HQ to make better and stronger decisions for the athletes that put money in their pockets. Hoping there are things going on being closed doors that the public is unaware of but from what HQ has shown, they’re only willing to sacrifice their athletes mental health, livelihood, and sadly now lives in favor of the dollar and spectacle. Asking athletes to turn this into an exhibition or shut it down rather than HQ taking responsibility & forfeiting profits to Lazar’s family completely misses the mark. The athletes competing are doing the best they can in an impossible situation and have been faced with an impossible decision and anyone that thinks they’re accountable and not HQ/CF decision makers isn’t looking at the whole picture.

    This will not be popular with many. I think blasting any competitor choosing to continue for “financial gain” as some put it is very narrow minded. What happened was terrible, avoidable, and extremely sad. At the end of the day.. a lot of people have sacrificed so much to get here. Physically, financially, emotionally, etc… some may just have to continue to go on. As their livelihood depends on it.. all?… no. But to bash anyone for decisions made. While not competing themselves. Absurd…Mr. Vellner was spot on. Personally I feel we just let these games finish. Then go on to discuss the true issues. How to avoid it from ever happening again. In all of the ways it was humanly be prevented.

    I hope Sprague wins the whole things and knows that it will forever be a meaningless title. His energy and attitude is disgusting and selfish.

    Go Ruck has some work to do. I think their kits are far superior to the Nobull kits in years past. The color schemes, fonts, branding, and everything else is far better with Nobull.
