As a long time subscriber,I describe this acre homestead woman to my husband who isn’t a youtube follower of anyone, “ this is the young woman who can process and can 100 cans of somethin’, then harvest 100 bushels of somethin’ else and freeze 27 full meals for the future because she is 9 months pregnant, all in the same day- so her husband knows he can feed them for years if he has to- kind of woman. Super woman! I am in awe of her drive and ability.

Same! I’m telling my man about Becky, on Christmas, as I’m following her dinner roll recipe. Like straight up bragging about her dedication & passion for her homestead whilst trying to convince my family we could do the same. He didn’t understand my fear of possibly losing her content as they begin to balance growing their family 😆

Gosh, it's as if Baby Acre was so in tune with you that once you had everything ready and felt clear, confident and peaceful about everything he was like, "ok, let's do this!" Can't believe he decided to come that very night. Congratulations on bringing your healthy little Newcomer safely into your world.

My last baby was like that… I told her we have to get through Dec 19 because we had dance recitals and school Christmas programs to get through. She waited until the morning of Dec 20 when my water broke and she was born an hour and 20 minutes later. That was the first and last time she was ever patient… lol

I would love to have a conversation with you about what you found useful in the hospital from your bag, what you wished you'd had, and how your recovery is going! From a professional as well as a personal perspective I find those stories so unique and absolutely fascinating and oftentimes they put a completely new perspective on a birth story. I personally am looking forward to both! Love for you and your family❣️

Becky, as a 29 year old looking to get pregnant your honesty, courage and positive attitude is really inspiring! Just want you too know that the content you put out there really does help people and we really appreciate you including us on your journey. I always feel encouraged after watching your videos and I think that you have created a really special place here on the internet. So happy you're home and you, Josh and baby are doing well. When I read a comment saying that you had gone into labour I genuinely prayed for you, as I would for any of my friends who go into labour, I held that feeling of prayer in my heart until I saw that picture of you holding his little hand. Once I saw that picture I knew that you were already out there being a spectacular mother! So proud of you! Can't wait to see what the future holds. You're a rockstar! (I'm also a doula and I know this time can be challenging so, just know- you got this and we got you! You are so capable and so awesome you are going to be a wonderful mother but when it gets hard and you feel like you need some help there are tons of people who love you and who would gladly help you out so don't be afraid to ask for what you need.)

Enjoy Baby A. Just remember he has not read any "baby books" and has not read your "Birth Plan". I always tell new moms- "listen to everyone's advice - then do what you want". If you are comfortable then Baby A will be comfortable. Do not compare your baby to other babies. You and Josh will be great parents.

This is how I birthed and raised my child. I soaked in every bit of advice I could get, started with the ones that seemed to work best with our family, and if that "failed", I started going down the list of advice until something finally did work. I'm one of those "you can never have too much help" kind of people. It also made each person in my life feel as if my child was partly their child. By doing so I created a village for my child and it has been a blessing for her and myself many times over the years. She is greatly loved by a whole tribe even as an "almost in 2 mths" adult. This is the old school way of parenting and its been a wonderful blessing for our family!

As the mother and step-mother to five young adults, I commend you for not giving in to peer pressure about children. None of our five want children and it saddens me how people pressure them. My husband and I also get pressured about it ("When are you going to be grandparents?" Constantly). We fully support our children and you, as children are a lot of work, money, etc, and no one should take that on unless they are "all in" for it.

I am sooo glad to hear your "live" voice in this video and know that you are home and safe! I loved going on this journey with you. Early in my nursing career I did a lot of post partum nursing and I remember how many of my patients were more apprehensive *after* child birth than before. And I think (this was back in the 80's; things were changing but not too fast) there was very little talk about the post partum experience and I don't think that helped, in fact I've often thought post partum depression was worse when you didn't know what was happening!
The more we share with each other the less scary it is and we can be more aware when things are going along as they should and when to speak out and ask questions. My number one goal all my years as a nurse was patient education and teaching them how to be in control with knowledge and the help of others.
Take as long as you need to get "back on your feet" but I for one look forward to more of your hindsites of the birth, what went well, what didn't, what helped (like product) and what didn't.
Big hugs to you, Josh and Baby Acre!

Us older lady's are loving your journey and sharing their old time wisdom with you. My old time wisdom from my grandma that worked really good is about breast feeding. She said not to switch sides when feeding unless necessary it only causes the baby to get mad and the resulting crys add too many air bubbles in their stomach that causes more spit ups and vomiting. The first three weeks of breast feeding are the most difficult as you, baby and nature learn to do what needs to be done and a routine is established.

    • @Jaynes-Path
      @Jaynes-Path ปีที่แล้ว +5

All of mine were natural births and breast fed too. I totally agree with your grandmother. As the sleep deprivation and middle of the night feedings began to blur my memory of which side is next, I used a old fashioned safety diaper pin. When baby was finished I would move the pin to the other side of my top. One less thing to worry about, did I remember correctly or not. My babies also had a preferred side, left for my heartbeat, and I found out that that is normal too. It's not you, it's just that they either like to hear it loudly or softer.

My second was my daughter and a piece of cake and planned for 2nd c-section as my uterus was too curved to deliver naturally. This Memaw was also asked by my daughter and her husband for me to be present for two of their children and I had a role to play (leg holder on one side). God Bless you, Baby A, and Josh on your new growing family. Just remember, always keep your chin up during postpartum and let others help you a tad to help your mindset if you need it. The hospital gown thing makes total sense. I wish I had been able to wear my own clothes back then. In my mind hospital gowns make me think of sick/weak or even family members who passed. It’s hard for me to feel strong, physically and mentally, when I’m not comfortable. I was induced though so I needed a catheter for a majority of my stay so the gown was easiest. There’s no way I could wear pants and be hooked up to those tubes haha. That first post baby shower though is amazing. I am shy, modest, independent but the nurse that helped me in that shower was beyond sweet. She gave me my independence but stood nearby and chatted while giving me privacy. She asked if I needed help, would pass me items from the counter if I needed, and would also chat with my family in the room. I was still hooked up to some machines so I couldn’t be alone or unsupervised standing up but she made sure I felt good. She knew a shower snd my own clothes was what I needed and it’s crazy the difference in pics. I can see my mood totally change. I wasn’t upset or anything, but birth is traumatic, it’s hard, it’s exhausting. I was beyond tired. But adrenaline and new mom nerves wouldn’t let me sleep. With all that change happening, of course it makes sense you want that 1 comfort. I hope you’re able to labor in whatever makes you comfortable and confident.

I absolutely agree! My sil is having her first baby in the next week or two and we're only 30 miles from Becky's town. I'd love to know how every thing went and what she'd do different in the future. Love you Becky!

Had to smile to myself when you asked if anyone rearranged their dishwasher to get more in because I had just done that. So anxious to hear about and see the baby. Thought you might surprise us on Christmas. I know you don’t plan on having the baby as part of you videos, but I do hope we get a peak. You are so right about being up front about normal parts of life. Love your videos.

I’m so happy for you and Josh. I started watching you a few videos before you found out you were pregnant. Then I binge watched a bunch of other ones. You always have such a calm level headed approach to everything. I’m so excited to maybe get to see a small glimpse of baby. I’m sure you’re gonna be pretty private about him. But hopefully we will get a peek every once in a while. Congratulations

Ohmygoodness! I wouldn't share this earlier because I didn't want to make you nervous. With my first baby (1986), the dr came in and checked me. I had already been once and they sent me home. Anyway, he broke my water and then he and my hubby went downstairs to the cafeteria and had breakfast together. When they got back, they found out that they had almost missed the delivery! It's very funny to us now, but wasn't quite so funny to me then. I can say this now because I know that Baby Acre is already here 😍. Hope you are all doing well.

I'd definitely be interested to see a video about what you actually used. As a fellow first-time mom (had my daughter in July) it was interesting to see what I *actually* ended up using vs what I thought I needed. I WAY over packed!
Congratulations, to you both and welcome Baby A!!

I am amazed by all the ways things have changed and products there are now. When I had my kids we took an outfit for mom & the baby to come home in and maybe a camera. The baby's outfit was either one dad went out to buy, a gift someone brought to the hospital or a neutral color as we usually didn't know the sex of the baby ahead of time. Seeing your excitement brought back fun memories!

Becky, thank you for recording these ahead of Baby Acre's arrival. Each one has been a treat to watch, even knowing he had made his entrance into the world, like seeing or hearing a bit about your favorite binge-worthy show before you've seen that part. 😉
I would love to hear more about your birth experience and the items you found most useful. I'm trying to gather the info in the event we have babies in our immediate family, so I know what's a likely good investment and what is likely not so helpful. All three of my children were C-section for various reasons, but none started out with that in the birth plan I had ahead of time! I love how open you are to the learning and flexibility of it all, as that can be the toughest part of pregnancy and delivery. (At least it was for me!) I was able to breastfeed all three of mine, but notices each was very different in their habits and even how readily they latched. It hammers home the point that each child and parent is different and all are blessed to have each other! Thank you again, Becky for sharing your time, thoughts, and vunerability with us. Here's to a healthy and contented Holiday Season 💖

I over prepared for both my babies. But you know, it's better to over prepare than to not be prepared. Every birth is different. I liked having my own clothing as well to labor in and give birth in. I wish I had brought my own two blankets and pillows to the hospital, but we were just fine. I'm so happy to see that this is the last video before you gave birth to baby Acre. So excited to hear how it all went for you. Hope post partum is foing smoothly. 🤱❤

I just recently started to follow Acre Homestead and really enjoy the wholesome, respectful content. I was raised on a farm and have grown up cooking from scratch and preserving so I can relate to this site. Big congratulations to you on the birth of your new sweet babe. As far as day to day you will get enough support and advice from loved ones but for the long haul take in Every moment you can. It goes by way too fast. I now have little grandchildren and I soak in as many moment as I can get.

It's truly amazing to me how different birth plans are today. I had my first baby at 27. The doctor said I was an "elderly" first-time mom! That comment was a bit painful. I'm a tall woman who has a borderline acceptable pelvic size for a natural birth. Unfortunately for me, I needed over 100 stitches after delivery. The only reason I bring this up is that in 1981 so many of today's products were not available. I would have given anything to have had a bupivacaine spray. I never had that issue again with my other 2 children. I'm just so happy for today's moms. I have one grandchild who was born on October 30th. (My daughter is 41) Congratulations Becky, Josh and baby Acre. Hopefully the 3 of you had a fantastic first Christmas. Debbie Lavigne

Congrats on baby arrival❤️ I delivered my baby boy on December 6th, after being in the hospital for three days with Covid, they had baby boy being monitored 24/7 I was about to be released when they said they wanted to induce me befor I went home. They set my induction for Wednesday, when Tuesday rolled around baby boy started to go in to distress. His heart rate was dropping and would come back up they rushed me in for a C-section, baby boys cord was wrapped around his neck, I was alone in the operating room since I had Covid, it was traumatic but I’m just happy my baby boys okay, I was at the right place at the right time ❤ couldn’t be more greatful for the swift actions of the doctors and nurses ❤❤

I'm a mom of eight, so I chuckled at the first time bag one brings to the hospital. Sometimes you make it the same for the first two. Then you bring about 1/4 or less of what you packed :) Made me smile though, and yes, on your own pillow. That's still a must for me.

The funny thing is, when you're in labor, you don't "NEED" anything except... THAT BABY, OUT OF YOU!!! Comfort and confidence really go right out the door and you really don't give a shit or even remember what you are wearing while you are laboring. I had my parents, my sister, and my best friend in the room when I gave birth! They all saw my whooha and that baby coming out and you know what?, It didn't matter what I had together and ready for that baby, he was going home safe no matter what and we all had lasting memories!

You’ve made me laugh out loud!😂 I was the same. When I did a hospital tour the curtains over the doors had been removed for cleaning. I was obsessing over whether they’d be back when I delivered for privacy reasons. When I went into labour, I wouldn’t have cared if the entire hospital staff had filed through to help 😮😂. My modesty went out of the window. Must be mother natures way maybe!
