    Those demos definitely OOOZE Synthwave! Nice to hear from someone so involved with the genre. The T-shirt and arcade cabinet running Pac-Man in the background just add to the mood. 🙂
    I've always ben a fan of Roland; my first gear purchases were an Alpha Juno-1 and TR-707... I wish I still had them today, but sadly had to sell them off many years ago. Roland Cloud VST's and a TR-8S keep me entertained these days... Maybe soon I'll finally get the TR-707 to accompany the latter, especially since the Synth engine can be played via MIDI. But yes, if I were to consider getting a synth again, the Juno-X would be very high on my list.

      Thank you so much :) The Roland cloud is fantastic .. but.. it’s so nice either way hardware synths to, and yes, the Juno X covers many many Roland synths 😃 So it’s a great buy 😃😃😃😃

    I was skeptical at first, but the more I watch demos, the more impressive this thing sounds. I want one simply because I own every original synth this thing emulates and I want to do my own comparisons, but now the OB-X8 has arrived and I’ve never owned an Oberheim. Thank you for another excellent demo Glenn, one of my favorite channels on YT.

      @@GlennMainMusic Oh no, I have it pre-ordered and eating Ramen Noodles for the next 4 months and told my wife she can't have brain surgery so I have the cash to actually pay for it when it ships. Looks like August/September according to Sweetwater. I was all in on the Behringer UB-Xa, but then comes Tom and now there's no other choice. The price is crazy high, but man I want a hardware Oberheim, not an emulation and I'll starve to get it!

    • @GlennMainMusic
      @GlennMainMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes 😃 The Fantom series is absolutely amazing too 😃 I do think that no matter what Roland synth you are using, you will get a great amount of enjoyment. I did want the Fantom, but I decided to get a synth that was more in my “need to have”. The Fantom is for me a big amazing workstation, and I do have all I need on that side.. so I went for the Juno 😃😃 We all have our preferences, and there is no right or wrong on this subject- If you go for a synth you like, you’re always right no matter what 🤣🤣

    Small question. You have a nice little collection of modern Roland musical instruments. In contrast, the only Roland I ever owned (a wrong voltage JD-990) I sold for a modest profit.
    However, with two Yamahas and two Korgs (and some assorted non-Japanese brands), there's a Roland-shaped gap in my collection. As such, I've been looking at the Juno-X and the Jupiter-X, and maybe the MC-707 and TR-8S. (I also have a limited budget, so let's not get excited.)
    What I was wondering is whether there was any particular reason (other than price) to choose the Juno-X over the Jupiter-X, because the two have quite a lot of overlap. Or was that the actual reason?

    This sounds incredible. I still have my eye on the Jupiter XM because it has more versatility in its included models (Jupiter 8, Juno 106, JX-8P, SH101, XV5080 and RD Pianos). The Juno X is incredible though. Brilliant 106 layout. Your demos are inspiring

    • @GlennMainMusic
      @GlennMainMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you :) I used to have the Jupiter XM, but I sold it just because I wanted bigger key bed. I was supposed to buy the Jupiter X, but then Juno X appeared … I still have my Juno 106 , the JX8P and JD800… so for me it was not that much of a big deal to “loose” some expansion regarding those synths. Although I did buy the JD800 expansion 😃😃😃 So I feel I have it all anyway. The Jupiter is also a great great synth … 😃

    • @martinson9552
      @martinson9552 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends if you want to have more Juno models (106, 60, X) if you favor Jupiter models (6, X) plus the RD piano. The Jupiter-x also has the vocoder, it is just not explictly listed on the panel. I was in the same situation to decide which one to buy. I chose the Jupiter-x. 😊
      By the way…cool video, Glenn. Have fun with your newest toy. 😁

    Hello, I'm back again to this great video. I've been looking on the web for info. but couldn't find it. Do you know if you can pan a single sound (in the output stereo field) on Roland X to the output or maybe also the effects like delay etc. I know you can pan sound within the group of many sounds, but panning a single sound? Is it possible or it's all just hard left and right - double mono like in the 80's, haha? Thanks ...

      I did have the Jupiter XM myself, but I sold it to get my Juno X. The engine inside its more or less the same, and I was actually hoping to buy the Jupiter X just to get a bigger keybed.. but my friends at Roland told me to wait for a “new release”… and that was the Juno X. It’s just a matter of what layout you like on the front, and I have had my Nuno 106 since the 80’s, and I was very familiar to that layout , so I love the Juno X because if that. If you do have the Jupiter X and have gotten used to that layout, I would maybe just keep it if I were you… but again, it’s only a matter of personal taste, they are both great synths 😃😃

    I'd be tempted to buy it, but I don't understand. Isn't the jupiter x superior to the juno x? I mean, the jupiter eventually has the ability to emulate the juno. I seem to go one down compared to the Jupiter. they are too stackable don't you think?

    The problem with Synthwave, is that references such a finite palette of sounds and patterns from a specific period of time, so it tends to all sound the same. Stepping outside that language of sounds automatically makes the music sound 'non' Synthwave (and more interesting to be honest).

    • @GlennMainMusic
      @GlennMainMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do agree with you. It’s much the same sounds.. and same bass lines… check out my new single “On The Edge”.. it’s a bit out of the box 😃😃😃

    Hi Glenn, I love this. Can you advise how many parts can you create as part of your backing track? and im assuming you can create different variations and seamless transition to these whilst playing?

    • @GlennMainMusic
      @GlennMainMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can have 4 tracks (midi channels) plus a drum track - so it’s 5 in total.
      But you can make all kinds of variations and jump between “Senes” (presets)
      In my opinion it’s a perfect synth for dawless live sets. It’s like a good old drum mashine , but with additional sound tracks - If you know what I mean. Just press the “pattern” you want, and you’re good to go ;)
